in another location from my desktop that is only using my wired network, or do they both have to have wireless? I say this cause under those conditions i noticed that with my net book next to my desktop i am able to share files with one being wired and the other being wireless.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear n300 WNR2000 v.2 router (which has the latest fireware as of today) and have connected to it both wirelessly and wired with my netbook. My netbook runs windows xp with sp3 and has all the lastest updates. My 2 pc's on the network are both wired and running windows 7 (both up to date with updates). I had no connectivity issues with any computers on any network ever until I got the pc's with windows 7. The 2 pc's see each other fine and they have zero issues as far as networking goes. Neither pc will interact with the xp netbook, and the netbook will not interact with either pc. I installed the LLTD on the netbook, which did allow the computers to "see" each other on the network maps. However, the computers still do not interact and say they are not on the network, even when trying to use the icon provided from the map to connect. In command prompts, all pc's and the netbook are able to ping each other with ip addresses. Only the windows 7 pcs are able to ping using net names though. When locating via "net view 192.168...", all the computers see each other and even display the appropriate names for the computers. However, using "net view pcname...", again nothing.I have selected netbios over tcp/ip, made sure the workgroup names match on all computers. The "net names" command showed no names saved in the cache.

My family and I are traveling abroad for a three week vacation (yay!). The hotel we are staying in (and as is probably the case with future hotels) does not have a WiFi connection. However, there is one ethernet port/cable that we have connected an Acer Aspire One netbook to, and it is currently connected with pretty good speeds. What I'm wondering is, is there any way to set up a secured wireless network through the netbook and the hard port connection? It seems that Windows XP Network Set Up Wizard is really not a whole bunch of guidance on this particular subject.

It's been working fine until recently when it suddenly does not see our home wifi connection. It shows a list of all our neighbours routers, just not ours. We have various other devices that can see and connect to it just fine (other PCs & laptops, iPhones & smartphones, MacBook Pro etc) A system restore cured the problem the first couple of times, but now that doesn't work. I've tried resetting & restarting the modem & router dozens of times but it does not appear in the list of available networks for the netbook.

But the wireless modem light is blinking steadily. I'm currently staying at a hotel. I can detect and connect to the network but no internet.
The way the internet at this hotel works is that it redirects you to a site to log in before gaining access.
It seems to work intermittently but very rarely. Requiring me to reset the connection multiple times. Problem is, my other devices work perfectly fine to connect.
I am trying to setup 4 cameras to view with remote live view. I set up my server with IP addresses of 192.168.1.80 .... 85. The screen has only the option for 1 video channel. I have seen on-line screen shots that have options for channel 1 through 8. I want to assign each camera to a different channel so I will be able to use remote live view to show all 4 cameras at the same time. I can only show one at a time. Do I need a different version than 3.3 or some obscure windows 7 setting?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried my entire afternoon trying to figure this out but to no avail. Fortunately, I found this place out of my desperation for a solution. My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

This issue concerns our Acer Aspire1 Netbook. It just suddenly will not let us access our home wireless network. When I followed previous advice by unchecking the IEEE 802.1x box, I received the "40 bit or 104 bit" warning box and upon checking found that the 802.1x box had automatically been rechecked. Needless to say, we still can't access the wireless network.

It has been working perfectly and we have saved some files and data in it.However, we turned it on one day and it had disappeared from the list of Computers on the network and for a while now we haven't been able to get in. It is not showing in the list of Computers in Network and its webpage keeps coming back as "Unable to Connect" or "Taking to Long to Respond".The server is visible on the router's webpage under DHCP Clients List and we can ping the server and get a reply. I also have done the dyndns service also. I will note if I change the http port in the camera settings to say 82 I get a black screen and cannot view my camera till I switch back to port 80. Previously I had some piece of **bleep** G router/modem combo from Verizon and I didn't have any problems accessing my network shares, I did have a streaming problem with some .mkv's because the signal was so poor. I Finally dropped some cash on a d-link modem and an linksys E3000 router. Here's the messed up part, if my wdtv is plugged, physically, into my router I can access my shares just fine. I can stream movies with out any lag what so ever. If I go wireless (as I have previously been with the old westell router/modem combo) I can no longer see my network shares. I can connect to the internet and do netflix, pandora, ect. But when I go under network shares all that shows up is my router..

Network computers and devices are not visible, Click to change..." I click on it and it doesn't do anything at all, same message comes on. SO i thought Ill change the settings, I see that Network Discovery is off so I turn them both on, save changes and then try again, same message appears, I go back to settings and see that they are switched off again, it doesn't stay on.

So my fiance picked up a netbook and we can't get it to connect to my wireless network. It is an XP computer with Service Pack 3. It sees the wireless network, which other devices can connect to with no problem but when I try to connect it I get a limited or no connectivity error. I get the same thing when I try to plug the computer directly into the router. Occasionally it will just connect to the wireless, but it still won't connect to the router, let alone the the internet. Currently it is not connected to anything.

I know it is probably not the modem as we have another netbook in the house which connects no problem, as does our laptop so i'm figuring its something to do with the Compaq netbook??
