View 1 Replies View RelatedOk I have 8 computers 2 computer will have a camera attached to it importing photos as they are being shot. (2 photo stations) Trick is I need to transfer all photos taken in real time to the remaining 6 computers at the same time. What is the best way to do this and what software to export all photos to the six computers. I'm running windows 7. I set this up as a home group but it was really slow. When I tried to use a network printer it would freeze the network? I need it to monitor new files as the photos come in. Also all photos also need to be copied to 6 different computers so guest could access their photo on any computer. This is how I currently have it set up. I have 2 Computers with cameras attached that takes the photos and sends them to PC1 (My Server Computer) The server computer also has the network printer attached. Each photo is about 300K-500K size.
Different photo is transfer every 15 seconds. The server computer is also connected to the other 5 Computers. The guest goes to one of the computers, scans a card and their photo pops up which is located on the server computer, they also have an option to print the photo. The problem is when the guests scans their card the photo is very slow to pull up ( about 15-20 seconds ) Second is when they hit print it freezes up sometimes for up to 2 minutes. I connected as a home group and first did connection wireless Then connect everything through a Ethernet cord which speed it just a little not much. Questions Do I need a better server computer?
I have infrared on my sagem myx-7 and want to transfer my photos to my netbook, I turn on the infra red on the phone, but the netbook doesn't detect it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a home network running on a Linksys WRT150-N router. The network consists of 2 desktops running Windows XP SP3, and a laptop running Windows 7. I am able to transfer various files without a problem between and among all machines, EXCEPT when those files are beyond a certain size (less than 1 MB or so transfers fine). Most of my photos are in the 2 MB - 3 MB range, so I have to run around like an idiot with a thumb drive to transfer them.
Is there anything I can adjust on my router or for my network settings that will allow me to share larger files?
Additional Details The error message I get is different for Windows 7 or XP. On the remote XP machine, it says "Cannot copy filename: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected, and that the file is not currently in use." Obviously, none of those conditions is true.
More random symptoms:
It seems that the problem is limited to JPG files, and appears to be affecting only the vast repository where I keep all my photos. I've got all my photos stored in a main directory, then in sub-directories by Year, then by Date. e.g. PHOTOS 2011 2011_12_25
Moreover, this problem does NOT appear to have much to do with file size. Some large files will copy, while others will not.
It's very random. Some sub-folders are filled with readable pictures, while others are unreadable. But this follows no discernible pattern based on file date -- and they were all taken with the same camera. Smaller files seem to always be readable, even when larger ones in the same directory are.
i'm overal content with the router. But i bought myself an ipad and an app to go with it,what it does it, you access your computer from your laptop. You can than transfer files onto the ipad. But the max speed while transfering is 4150kbps, kinda slow imo.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't want to allow any Guest access to my network, but I do want to connect my iPad to my network. I've successfully added another computer to the network but the router setup seems to want the iPad to connect only as a Guest .Is there a way to treat my iPad as another computer (not as Guest) so that it my network recognizes it in the same way it recognizes the second computer (without entering a password)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new laptop today, unfortunately, it doesnt have a Firewire port and i want to use it for video editing. But i figured no problem really, i'll just capture on my desktop that i have been previously using to edit on, using Premiere pro to edit, but HDVsplit to capture, and then transfer the files over to the laptop using a USB or possibly trying to setup a home network. But when transferring files from the desktop onto the laptop via the router using ethernet cables, the speed is about 250 kb/s and when its the other way around, from the laptop to the desktop, the speed is 10 MB/s! I really need to find away to speed this up as the overall files i want to transfer are over 5GB.You can read a bit more about it here: [URL]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love sharing on my home network to transfer files from one computer to the next. However, I will soon have tenants in my house sharing my network ...so they can use my Wi-Fi to get on the internet.I need a solution to give them access to the internet without losing my own network sharing ability.I do not want them accessing my files.I have Windows XP home and a Dlink WBR-2310 router. As I see it, I need to either upgrade to a router with a Guest Zone/Access feature ...OR..upgrade to Windows 7(?) to give myself more networking options (i.e. file sharing where I select the users or set a password). Currently the XP permissions are too general.

Both computers can upload and download as expected from the internet. Transfers between the two computers though are slow. Both computers are loaded with Windows 7. Transferring files to or from the laptop transfers at 1.5MB/sec to 2 MB/sec.
When I first installed my wireless router a few years ago, I did it with my old computer which has Windows XP as its operating system. It is on this computer that the Linksys "admin control panel" is installed, which allows me see what computers are connected through the router, see what the settings of the router are, etc. I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows 7 as the operating system. As I transfer programs and documents from my old computer to my new computer, I have run into the problem of how to transfer the Linksys "admin control panel" from my old computer to my new computer. The original installation CD for Linksys won't work with Windows 7 so I don't even have that as a starting point. I tried going to the web-based admin site, but can't access it from either computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm curious to know if there is a way, to stream music to my iPad from a drive connected on my network? Either by USB to the router or a hard wired NAS. Im aware of programs like Streamtome but this requires a mini server running on a PC which is want i want to avoid!
I know there are things like the slingbox etc but i cant believe its needed! If you can access the files on a MacBook on the wireless why not an iPad?
iPad connects fine to WiFi leave it idle for 20mins and then when you wake it up, it doesnt reconnect. It is not just this 1 pad, i have about 20 users in the office with same problems. So far i have tried the following:
1. Update router firmware
2. Network initially had split up so each floor router was a DHCP server now only 1 DHCP server.
3. Test with different security WPA/WPA2 and No security.
4. Connect to different wireless router.
5. Try Apple's Airport but doesnt work in corporate enviornment(couldnt even get it working at home)
6. Try adjusting screen brightness (not in a million years is this a fix!!).
7. Static Addressing not an option as too many devices and it is not a fix.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a newer linksys router supporting 4 laptops, 2 desktops, 3 iphones, an ipad, an apple tv (also a smart tv, two wifi blu-ray players, but I'm less concerned about those devices). Everything is relatively new (1-2 years old). Most everything is turned on during the day but only a few things may be in use at a time. Many of my devices are loosing connection multiple times per day, my ipad is losing connection every 15 minutes, my apple tv takes a lot of finagling to connect (my level of tech expertise is basically me power cycling everything and prayer). Once my laptops get online, they tend to stick. It seems my apple devices lose signal more frequently.I've updated the firmware on the router and played with wideband settings and channel selection and haven't noticed much difference. I do see a lot of other wifi signals around me. The constant disconnecting has been going on for a couple of months. We have Comcast/Xfinity as our cable provider on 20/MB internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble connecting to my computer remotely via my iPad.I have a fairly strict router so i installed and am running Hamachi as my network through which i connect to my server computer via another computer. I realized as I was writing this that the reason i could not connect to my server computer via the Hamachi address was because my ipad is not connected to the Hamchi network. When i try to connect via the ip address i get from whatsmyip.org i simply get an error. I have absolutely no idea where to go from here, and I would really like to have remote access to my server computer from my ipad.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a VPN on my Mac that I can access from my iPad in a remote location (work.) I have been using "iVPN" on the Mac to "distribute" the home Mac's Internet connection to the iPad. I have everything set up right and the VPN works fine and the iPad connects fine, just not when I am work, where I want it to work. The iPad tells me that it cannot connect to the VPN. I believe my work blocks VPN ports (1701, 1723 etc) I can do a google search from the iPad on the work WiFi so the connection is ok, but I believe those ports are blocked. If I connect the iPad to a restaurant's wifi for example, the VPN connects fine. What client can I use to create my own VPN at home where I can use a standard port like port 80 or something that is not blocked at work so that I can connect to the VPN from work?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy home network is up to now all hard-wired, nothing shared etc.I just got an ipad though, so do want to have wireless available now. I would like the ipad wireless router to be isolated so that the desktops run no risk from getting a virus via the ipad wireless connection. So, I was going to buy another router - would I be able to plug that into the wired router, and the desktop also plugged into the wired router, would that keep every part of the network isolated from the others?
