Apr 19, 2012I recently purchased a Ciso 1200 Series WAP and I want to bridge this to my existing Cisco Wireless Router So I can extend my coverage. I have done some research but keep coming up short as to where I need to start. Note*(I do not want a physical connection to the WAP, I simply want to be able to bridge the connection from my existing Wireless router to my WAP.

When i connect the ap to the network i can ping from ap to wlc and the wlc to ap, but the proccess of lwapp messages give errors on the Ap when the Ap try to download the image from wlc and could not join the wlc. why this could be? this is the info of the wireless lan controller.

Mar 22, 2012I am trying to change wpa2 key on an Aironet 1231g access point. Once I change they key, clients cannot authenticate to the access point unless they either change the password or forget and re add the network on the client device. Is there any way to make the client ask for a new key if the key doesn't match when authenticating?

I have tried to change the IP from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.178.2. After changing and applying the changes I restarted the router and tried to access the router via the new address. This was not possible am I doing something wrong or did I forgot something?

May 15, 2012We had two dozen Aironet 1200 access points and a controller donated to us from a local hospital that no longer needed them. My boss would like me to set one up with 3 VLANs:
- encrypted VLAN for staff
- encrypted VLAN for students
- unencrypted VLAN for guests
Ultimately, we'd like the staff VLAN to have access to all internal network resources, the student VLAN to have access to several pre-defined printers, and the guest VLAN is web-only access. Whether the controller we were given will accommodate that, we won't know until we get one Aironet 1200 programmed and connected to the controller. For the time being, I just want to get this access point programmed with the 3 VLANs.
I'm easily able to get it running a single SSID (non-VLAN) network and confirm that I can use that network fine. However, I need to set up these 3 VLANs. I can connect to it via telnet if that'll let me program it faster.

Mar 26, 2012I have some aironet 1200 AP's. I want to use this with a windows 2008 radius server. I followed the guide on [URL]. Unfortunately I can not get this working. In the securtiy log of the event viewer there is always the message "authenication was not succesful because an unknown username or incorrect password".
- Is it possible to get this working?
- If yes, is there a manual how to configure the AP's and the radius server, or are there any hints?
- Is this the best way to setup a wireless network or is there a better way?
I saw there is also a local radius server inside the 1200. Can all the 1200's work together? I suppose that if I use the built-in radius server than I can't make a connection to my AD database, correct?

My current SSID is ABtc. My current key is abcdefgh12345. when i try to change the key its give me error :

The unit didn't come with a power adapter or any accessories. Just the bare AP. Does this AP need a controller to work? Can I use it as a standalone AP?

I was looking at the Aironet 1310 Outdoor access point, but I can't find much information on it. I am looking to see how many SSIDs can be setup, we currently have 2 one private, and one public, this is done with VLANS. I am also looking at finding out about the power injector, it converts to coaxial cable, it has 2 RJ-45 and 2 Coaxial, does this mean if we get 2 access points, then I only need 1 power injector?

Mar 13, 2013I'm working on setting up an Aironet 1040 Wireless Access Point for my company. It's my first time setting up something like this, and I've run into a bit of trouble.
I created my first SSID easily enough, following the manual and guides online. I set up VLAN 1 as my native VLAN and linked it to my SSID with the encryption and security that I was told to use and it works great. However, my boss asked me to set up a second connection as well for guests at the office, and this is where my trouble starts.
I created VLAN 2, and then another SSID which I linked here. I set up encryption and security the same way, and I can see the network when I open up my network and sharing manager. I can connect to the network as well, but I either get a spinning blue icon where my signal strength indicator is or a few bars with a yellow caution sign, and Windows says 'Identifying...'. I've compared the two SSIDs using the console and the GUI and I can't seem to spot any obvious differences between them.

Dec 3, 2012I have a office network that was setup before I started. We have a 172. subnet and a 10.2 subnet. When users on Wifi get a 10.2 address ( ran out of 172 address ) they are not able to get out to the internet. But if the laptop is connected to a LAN port and get a 10.2 address they are able to get to the Internet. Not sure if its the Aps I need to configure or the Pix seeing that if they get a LAN address of 10.2 everything works. This is becoming a bigger issue now that the company has out grown its main subnet (172.)

May 15, 2012I am running the upgrade tool on Aironet AP1230B-A-K9. I can't join the controller by using the upgrade tool. the error is "AP does not have Supported Radio". What radio is the upgrade tool or controller look for on Aironet 1200 series? This AP is running 802.11b. However, I have several APs which the same model is running on the same one controller. The controller is model 4402.

Apr 9, 2012I want to connect two buildings. Let's call them Building A (main) and Building B.
„A“ is the main building and provides a wired LAN to an AAA server (192.168.1.2) and the WAN gateway (192.168.1.1). There I placed a 1262N with the IP 192.168.1.3 connected to the wired LAN and configured it as Root-Bridge. Let's call it AP01.
„B“ is a pretty large building and has a wired LAN from one end to the other end.
So I placed two 1262N there, each at one end.
The first 1262N is configured as non-root Bridge (AP02) and connects to the Root Bridge (AP01). The IP address of AP02 is 192.168.1.4.
The second 1262N is configured as Access Point (AP03) and connects to the non-root Bridge (AP02) via the wired LAN. The IP adress of AP03 is 192.168.1.5
My Questions:
1. Do I need tell AP02 about the AAA Server in Building A or acts AP01 like a AAA Proxy for AP02 because of it Root Bridge functionality?
2. How Do I tell AP03 that it should use AP02 as a gateway to building A?

1. What is the maximum number of simultaneous users that can be connected to a Cisco Access point, is it 255 or can be more ?
