I have a cable broadband installed in my home i just bought cisco 1200 series access point...now how to configure my access point. I believe I have to plugged fastethernet cable coming out of my cable modem to access point after that? What I have to do ....do I have to configure the cable modem as wlel or not???

I have 3 E3000 Routers and would quality input regarding using 1 of the E3000 Routers connected to my Broadband Modem (Roadrunner) and would like to know how to configure the remaining 2 E3000 Routers to be hardwired to my main Router as Access Points located approximate segmented 1/3rd areas throughout my house which really is only 1800 Sq.Ft. in area. How to be configure these routers as access points as well as configuring the main router that will be connected to my broadband router. When i come in the same place of the AP, i'm connected directly. When I look at the force of the signal is -35 in the chamber and -55 in the saloon.My android phone and one other old mac book doesn't have problem connecting. I look at logs and I see some max retries and some authentification failed. IT's so weird. Here is my config, did you see something wrong ?

I have enble both dott11Radio interfaces on each access point. The problem I am having is that they do not associate. I have not configured them for any encryption or security. I just want to make sure the connect before I add any other configuration. Is there anything else that I need to configure to make them associate.

As soon as I plug the range extender into the router, instead of it receiving an IP address, it crashes the router. I have updated the router firmware to 2.021. I have checked the box in the WDS menu to "allow wireles signal to be repeated". I will check with Amped, but are there any known issues between this router and the Amped Wireless family of range extenders?

I tryed two configurations: Root and Non-Root AP. This way every wired PC on the Root AP can connect to the Access points, but cannot connect to the wired PC on the Non-Root AP.AP and WGB. Even this way the wired computers on one AP cannot connect to the wired PC on the WGB. This way only the wireless client can connect to the wired network. This is my network:

I have the 0/0 accepting a DHCP from the ISP then I have 0/1 going to a switch and hosting a dhcp server.
Where I have an issue is:
A) Finding a way to turn on the wireless and make it use the same DHCP as wired and setting up a user name/wep password
B) Turning on the GUI that is supposed to be embedded on this.
C) Finding a way to make the DNS point to the default gateway so that I don't have to set the address everytime we move the box.
Here is my current configuration, and with it I can get onto the wired network and get to the internet.

I've got an iPad2, which works without issue at home (1130 AP/ASA5505), but at my office, we have a 1200 series AP. It's hit and miss, but other people who bring iPads in have noticed the same issue--our internal SSID is non-broadcast. Even though the SSID is previously configured and works on occassion, there are times where it won't even see the SSID at all to connect.
This happens with iPad and iPad2, iOS4 and iOS5...
LIke i said, works fine on my non-broadcast SSID at my home on an 1130 AP...
Is it possible to setup a Cisco 1200 AP with 802.1x to drop users into the corprate network if they have a certificate or if not to put them on the guest network?

I want to replace the main router with a new D-Link DIR-655 (better parental controls). When I swap in the new router and get the cables plugged in in the same manner as they are in the Netgear router, computers connecting wirelessly to the Linksys router can no longer access the Internet.
The Netgear router is set up with an IP address of 192.168.4.1. The Linksys is 192.168.2.1, and the D-Link is at the default 192.168.0.1.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use a Cisco 871W router for my office in home -- I have Wifi working and want to add my new Blu-Ray player to the network -- I bought a WAP54G to use as a wireless bridge assuming i woudl just connect the WAP to the BLU-Ray with a ethernet cord. The instructions for installation of the WAP include connecting it to my router for the set up but the installation disk says it is not recognizing the WAP. I use Brighthouse for my ISP and the connection sequence is BH Modem to teh Cisco 871W -- the 871W directly connects to my CPU and to a Net gear FS105 fast network Switch -- the swicth connects to my VOIP phone , HP printer and external HD back-up system -- there is an open port onthe FS105 and two open LAN ports on the 871W.
I tried to install the WAP but connecting it to both the router and the swtich without luck. Is the WAP what I need to connect the Blu-Ray --- am i missing something in the set up?
