Cisco WAN :: 2811 Access Point And Switch Is Not Connecting
Aug 22, 2011
I have a Cisco 2811 router with C288nm-advsecuruityk9-mz.151-4-4.M.bin IOS version. The router has two LAN interface FE 0/0 and FE 0/1.The router have too, two interfaces ADSL ATM0.0.0 and ATM 0.0.1, both are connect to internet..I need the next configuration. The interface FE 0/0 is directly connect to a Switch A.The interface FE 0/1 is directly connect to a Access Point Cisco. The Access Point and the Switch is not connecting between. The subnet of Switch A and AP are different (Switch A 192.168.180.0/24 and AP 192.168.181.0/24)The devices in the switch A have dynamic IP address, the router must be a DHCP pool to assign theses IP.The device in the AP have dynamic IP address, the router must be a DHCP pool to assign theses IP.I created two DHCP pools in the router, one for the subnet 192.168.180.0 and other for 192.168.181.0, but the devices of FE 0/0 assign IP of 192.168.180.0 or 192.168.181. 0, but not only in the 192.168.180.0.

I have two locations separated by less than 300 meters. In each zone I have an Access Point and in only one zone (let's call it Zone B), I have two IP Cameras. The idea is to connect these two cameras to my AP located at Zone B, and then, send this signal to my other AP to get this cameras in a LCD. First of all, I want to know in which mode should the APs be connected, I mean, in which "Operation Mode". I have three options:
-AP Client Router
-AP Router
-AP
And if I choose AP mode:
-AP:
+ Access Point
+ Client
+ WDS Bridge
+ Repeater
PD: The APs Model: TL-WA5210G

My home network currently has a Linksys router (essentially acting as a wireless access point) in a distant part of the house connected to my main router, a Netgear WNR2000, and this configuration is working fine.
I want to replace the main router with a new D-Link DIR-655 (better parental controls). When I swap in the new router and get the cables plugged in in the same manner as they are in the Netgear router, computers connecting wirelessly to the Linksys router can no longer access the Internet.
The Netgear router is set up with an IP address of 192.168.4.1. The Linksys is 192.168.2.1, and the D-Link is at the default 192.168.0.1.

I use a Cisco 871W router for my office in home -- I have Wifi working and want to add my new Blu-Ray player to the network -- I bought a WAP54G to use as a wireless bridge assuming i woudl just connect the WAP to the BLU-Ray with a ethernet cord. The instructions for installation of the WAP include connecting it to my router for the set up but the installation disk says it is not recognizing the WAP. I use Brighthouse for my ISP and the connection sequence is BH Modem to teh Cisco 871W -- the 871W directly connects to my CPU and to a Net gear FS105 fast network Switch -- the swicth connects to my VOIP phone , HP printer and external HD back-up system -- there is an open port onthe FS105 and two open LAN ports on the 871W.
I tried to install the WAP but connecting it to both the router and the swtich without luck. Is the WAP what I need to connect the Blu-Ray --- am i missing something in the set up?

Just bought a new router and repeater for a wifi hotspot i am currently running.. I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?

I am having trouble connecting the Amped Wireless AP600EX access point to my WRSV4400n. As soon as I plug the range extender into the router, instead of it receiving an IP address, it crashes the router. I have updated the router firmware to 2.021. I have checked the box in the WDS menu to "allow wireles signal to be repeated". I will check with Amped, but are there any known issues between this router and the Amped Wireless family of range extenders?

I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points. Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's. The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out. If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly. Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?
I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap. See diagram below. Not sure if this has some impact?

I am having trouble connecting my device to certain WiFi networks. We work with hotels and we have a handful of devices that are just not able to connect to their network. Te device works fine in my office. When I get to the Setup page and do a site survey, it'll get to 100% and then display a "page can't be found" as oppose to showing me that it has been connected. We had the MAC address cleared in their network and still no luck. Firmware has also been updated.

I am having a problem setting up an Access Point. Here is my configuration. I have a Comcast Cable Modem that plugs in to a 24 port Netgear Switch. From the switch it plugs into a Linksys N wireless router with an IP of 10.1.10.76. I don't know the linksys model. But it is fairly new. I also have a Netgear WN604 N Access Point that plugs in to the same switch in another location away from the wireless router about 75+ft.
I configured the access point's IP to be 10.1.10.130 with DHCP off and DNS as 10.1.10.1. The cable modems default Gateway is 10.1.10.1 and it handles the dhcp which is provided to the switch were both the wireless router and access point get there IP's. I can't set it up so that the cable modem plugs in to the wireless router first then the switch because of a security system that is setup to the Comcast Cable Modem.
My Goal is to the the same identical SSID and Password for both the Linksys and Access point. I don't think I can set it up as a repeater because it's to far away from the linksys router.

I am staying with some family for the next two months and they don't have wireless internet at their house. When they bought their house it was wired for ethernet and have the modem going to a netgear 8 port switch which is going to the different rooms of the house. I would like to add a wireless access point to one of those 8 ports coming from the switch. I currently have a TP-LINK TLWR740N router that I can configure into an access point, or I can buy just and access point. Unfortunately it is not an option for me to plug the modem into the router and then the router into the switch.

I think I know what I want, but I just wanted to check before I splashed the cash and made the wrong choiceI have a Humax Freesat recorder and a Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Both of which have services that need internet access, but neither are WIFI enabled & are the wrong side of the room to be connected via cabled ethernet.I believe that what I need is to wireless access point? I'd like one with a built in switch as well, as most seem to only come with only one port. The one I found has four, which would be useful as I could replace the poor wireless Xbox 360 dongle.

Here is my set up:
192.168.1.1 is a Linksys WRT610N acting as a router and DHCP server for addresses .100 to .150
192.168.1.2 is TEW-639 with DHCP turned off and connected to the Lynksys via one of the LAN ports.
I then have a FosCam camera with IP 192.168.1.010, connected either wirelessly or via a wire on a LAN port to the TEW-639W.
Here is my problem: If the FosCam is connected wirelessly to the TEW-639W I am unable to see it from any device connected to the Linksys. If I connect the FosCam via a wire to a LAN port on the TEW-639W then I can see it from a device connected to the Linksys device. If a device is connected to the network via the TEW-639, I can see the FosCam whether it is hardwired or wirelessly connected to the TEW-639. What am I doing wrong? Why can I not see the wireless connections on the TEW-639 from a Linksys connected device?,The setup is that the internet comes in and is connected to the Linksys, which then via LAN cable and LAN ports on both devices is connected to the TEW-639, which is then connected to the camera.

I'm using 4 wap200 cisco AP, 1 wap200e linksys AP and 1 cisco sf300-24p switch. Every AP has 2 SSIDs,one is for clients and one for mobile devices.I have updated the equipment to the latest firmware but I still encounter the same issue. The mobile devices go through APs and once every 2 days, my wap200e blocks its lan interface. I suspected a stp issue, because the switch was seeing MAC addresses coming from different ports. So I disabled STP on the switch and on the AP. The annoying thing thing is that none of my other antennas get cut off.I tried replacing it with a cisco wap200e,same issue.

we got a At&T Modem/Router upstairs, and then we got a long ethernet cable running from there to the basement. The problem is that this only allows for one LAN connection at a time (an issue for LAN parties and such). I do have an E2000 Linksys router however and I want to be able to use that as like a switch/access point.I am pretty sure this is possible but I have forgotten all of the steps to do it.The att modem/router is running on 192.168.1.254, and my Linksys which is now directly connected is on 192.168.1.1, so I have a different address in that regards.Do I need to edit my Linksys settings now, or do I have to edit the at&t settings? Also I will be using this for Xbox Live at points so will I need to re-open all those ports up on my Linksys, or at least set the DHCP to the Xbox's static IP to keep my NAT good?

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
