View 11 Replies View RelatedHow do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

I don't want it assigning IPs and interfering with our other router or even want to use the ethernet. Basically, I want it to work as an airport and just that. I was wondering if there is any way to set it up like that.

I installed it successfully but not all of my house is covered well by the network, I even have some 'blank spots', where there's no WiFi at all. What can I do to improve the coverage? I have no problem to buy additional equipment, as long as my entire house would be fully WiFi-covered.

I have a Packetfront DRG700 broadband modem (fiberoptic), which also has a wireless DHCP server built-in. In addition I have a D-Link DIR-615 router which is connected by cable to the modem. I want both units to be wireless access points for the same local network.
I've tried disabling the DHCP server on the D-Link and naming both units with the same SSID and passphrase, but that didn't work because whenever I'm wirelessly connected to the D-Link, I get an IP address from my broadband provider and not from the DHCP server on my modem; i.e. I'm no longer connected to my local network.
I'm told by my provider that the reason is because the DHCP server on the DRG700 only works wireless, while the LAN ports are given IPs from outside the house. (I would use one of these ports for my broadband TV decoder.)
My modem and rotuer have double NAT. I am not the only one in my house so I can't mess with the router a lot, but turning the NAT off in my modem and assigning the new IP to my static IP router, by turning off DHCP in the router. Will make my modem a access point.

The idea is to connect these two cameras to my AP located at Zone B, and then, send this signal to my other AP to get this cameras in a LCD. First of all, I want to know in which mode should the APs be connected, I mean, in which "Operation Mode". I have three options:
-AP Client Router
-AP Router
-AP
And if I choose AP mode:
-AP:
+ Access Point

+ WDS Bridge
+ Repeater

I bought the DIR 655 to put into our network as the Netopia wireless fails to connect even though we have maximum signal strength. Att advised that buying a third party router would solve this problem.I did manage to almost configure the DIR 655. I would have to connect it to the system to test it[CODE]

I want to replace the main router with a new D-Link DIR-655 (better parental controls). When I swap in the new router and get the cables plugged in in the same manner as they are in the Netgear router, computers connecting wirelessly to the Linksys router can no longer access the Internet.
The Netgear router is set up with an IP address of 192.168.4.1. The Linksys is 192.168.2.1, and the D-Link is at the default 192.168.0.1.

I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? The instructions for installation of the WAP include connecting it to my router for the set up but the installation disk says it is not recognizing the WAP. I use Brighthouse for my ISP and the connection sequence is BH Modem to teh Cisco 871W -- the 871W directly connects to my CPU and to a Net gear FS105 fast network Switch -- the swicth connects to my VOIP phone , HP printer and external HD back-up system -- there is an open port onthe FS105 and two open LAN ports on the 871W.
I tried to install the WAP but connecting it to both the router and the swtich without luck. Is the WAP what I need to connect the Blu-Ray --- am i missing something in the set up?
I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points. Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's. The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out. If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly. Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?
I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap. See diagram below. Not sure if this has some impact?
I am having trouble connecting my device to certain WiFi networks. We work with hotels and we have a handful of devices that are just not able to connect to their network. Te device works fine in my office. When I get to the Setup page and do a site survey, it'll get to 100% and then display a "page can't be found" as oppose to showing me that it has been connected. We had the MAC address cleared in their network and still no luck. Firmware has also been updated.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find out if it's possible to setup a 3600HGV (VDSL Gateway) as modem only and have a Netgear DGN3500 (ADSL2+) as a wireless access point. I'm aware that both are DSL modems, my reasoning for wanting to have them both hooked up is that
a) the 3600HGV has no Gigabit switch and runs on wireless G
b) the DGN 3500 has a Gigabit switch and does wireless N. So in a nutshell I want the 3600 as simple modem and the 3500 as a wireless N access point with Gigabit switch.
The detected problem is the connection between my access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken. The network gateway is accessible, but Windows couldn't receive network traffic from the Internet. All other devices (iPad, Xbox, android phone) have no problem connecting to the Internet.Desktop is the only one experiencing the connection issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop died last week and have been using my husbands, which I hate! We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy home lab is in a different room than the cable modem. I have a wireless N router in the room with the cable modem. I have a wireless access point that is connected to a Cisco 2611XM routers fa0/0 interface. The 2611 accepts the DHCP address from the wireless router. However, I can't ping past the wireless LAN 192.168.10.0 network. I know with the wireless router it's two layers of DHCP. Should remove the DHCP settings from the wireless router? The wireless router is a TrendNet TEW-651BR. I can ping my iphone or any device conntected to the wireless router. And my laptop can ping default gateway of the wireless router, which I assume is the cable modem, however the 2611 cannot. So I'm assuming that's why the hosts behind the 2611 can't get to the internet. I followed the below instructions. I know the instructions don't assume your using a wirelss router between 2611 and the cable modem. But, I really don't want to run a cable to the cable modem.
