Linksys Wireless Router :: E1000 - Access Point Behind Airlink AR675W
Apr 28, 2013In my own home just testing my E1000 works fine as an access point with an E3500 as primary router using Linksys:
method 1 (lan-lan connection) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.1.2 and DHCP off and with
method 2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
In my daughters building where I need it, I cannot get the E1000 to work as an access point. The primary router is an Airlink AR675W with ip 192.168.0.1 (255.255.255.0) delivering addresses 100 to 150.
When i try the E1000 in either method I get no internet connection on devices connected hardwired or wirelessly to the E1000. Before each setup I used the reset button and the factory defaults tab
method1 (lan-lan) I set the E1000 to IP 192.168.0.2 to be different than the Airlink and DHCP off.
method2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
Why I cannot connect to the internet in this way behind the Airlink primary router.

Mar 21, 2011My home network currently has a Linksys router (essentially acting as a wireless access point) in a distant part of the house connected to my main router, a Netgear WNR2000, and this configuration is working fine.
I want to replace the main router with a new D-Link DIR-655 (better parental controls). When I swap in the new router and get the cables plugged in in the same manner as they are in the Netgear router, computers connecting wirelessly to the Linksys router can no longer access the Internet.
The Netgear router is set up with an IP address of 192.168.4.1. The Linksys is 192.168.2.1, and the D-Link is at the default 192.168.0.1.

Mar 3, 2011For two years I had a 2-Wire home portal from AT&T for my DSL line. I also have DirecTV with a DVR that has an ethernet port to download video on demand from the internet. I bought a Linksys WAP54G to use as a pass-thru to the DVR and it has worked perfectly for the entire time. I remember that the setup was a nightmare, so I saved the settings in case I lost them.
when I connected the new E1000 router to a Netopia DSL modem, I decided to reconfigure the WAP to use the new router. I recovered the configuration file and the only thing that I had to change was the MAC address for the new router which I used with the Linksys' web-based setup tool. I used the network discovery and selected the new router. All of the settings including the router name, default gateway, and static address for the WAP54G were the same.But, when I go to the setup page for the DirecTV DVR and perform a network test, I get an OK connect to the local network, but an error22 and fail to connect to the Internet. Of course, going to the help page on the DVR for that error only gives the lame troubleshooting such as, is the router plugged in? Is the ethernet cable connected? etc.
I know that when I had to set it up with the original 2-wire portal, I had a lot of tweaking to do in the advanced wireless settings. I'm trying to setup using the WAP54G as a pass-thru bridge for DirecTV.

Aug 23, 2011why I am only able to connect at 39Mbps (often 5.5Mbps) to my Linksys E1000 Router? Residential. Wood Frame/Stick home construction. No other devices connected to router. <10 feet from E1000 Router. Line of sight (nothing in between router/laptop). New Dell Inspiron DW 1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card.

At times I have seen it flash to 52Mbps but immediately drops to 39Mbps or lower (26, 5.5, etc.).Sales prop indicates up to 300Mbps. Where is the other 90% of the connection speed they’re talking about? OR is 39Mbps expected?

May 2, 2012I have a Comcast Router pushing out IP's in the 10.1.10.X range. I want to hookup a Linksys E1000 Router so I can use its wireless & Guest access features. The Linksys is using the 192.168.1.x range. I have a cable from the comcast router running into the Internet port of the Linksys. I have tried changing the Linksys router IP to 10.1.10.x and turning off DHCP. It will not allow me to the internet nor allow the PC connected to it to connect to the PC that is attached to the Comcast Router. I cannot replace the Comcast as it is a combi router/modem.

Sep 19, 2009I use a Cisco 871W router for my office in home -- I have Wifi working and want to add my new Blu-Ray player to the network -- I bought a WAP54G to use as a wireless bridge assuming i woudl just connect the WAP to the BLU-Ray with a ethernet cord. The instructions for installation of the WAP include connecting it to my router for the set up but the installation disk says it is not recognizing the WAP. I use Brighthouse for my ISP and the connection sequence is BH Modem to teh Cisco 871W -- the 871W directly connects to my CPU and to a Net gear FS105 fast network Switch -- the swicth connects to my VOIP phone , HP printer and external HD back-up system -- there is an open port onthe FS105 and two open LAN ports on the 871W.
I tried to install the WAP but connecting it to both the router and the swtich without luck. Is the WAP what I need to connect the Blu-Ray --- am i missing something in the set up?

Dec 5, 2011I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points. Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's. The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out. If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly. Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?
I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap. See diagram below. Not sure if this has some impact?

Mar 4, 2013I am having trouble connecting my device to certain WiFi networks. We work with hotels and we have a handful of devices that are just not able to connect to their network. Te device works fine in my office. When I get to the Setup page and do a site survey, it'll get to 100% and then display a "page can't be found" as oppose to showing me that it has been connected. We had the MAC address cleared in their network and still no luck. Firmware has also been updated.

Apr 10, 2012I have a Linksys E1000 device that is connected to a DSL connection through a modem. I have a Laptop that is wirelessly connected to the router and a PC that is connected via cable. Lately, a problem started to occur where the router keeps losing the internet connection and Laptop tell me that it connected to the router but there in no internet access and the same thing happens to the PC, both disconnect at the same time. I called my ISP company when this happens and they told me that the connection is working fine and everything look ok from there. I connected my PC directly to the modem and it worked fine so problem is not from modem. When i go to the router settings at the moment this occurs, it shows that all IPs are 00000 and status is "Connecting" and then it connects and changes to "connected" and everything fine till like 15 minutes later where this happens again (sometimes, it actually disconnects again after like 15 seconds!). I took the router to the dealer and he examined it and told me there is nothing wrong but he updated the firmware and told me to try it but same thing so he exchanged it for a new one and problem is still there!

Sep 12, 2012I've got a v1 E1000. Lately when I turn on one of my computers, or attempt to connect with my Motorola Xoom tablet it will show connected but I will not have internet access. Initially it will show that I have internet access but not work, then after about 1-2 minutes my PCs will show "No Internet access" for about 2-3 minutes, then it will show "Internet Acess" again and still not load. After that, in about 1-3 minutes the internet will start working and work as good as ever until I disconnect (manually or by turning off my computer) then connect again; the process described avove happens again.

So, now I read that I need to use Cisco Connect on the CD to change this feature. When I run the Cisco Connect software, it says it can't configure the router (probably because I already have it configured). Why doesn't the Cisco Connect software simply take me to the settings where I can change the guest access feature? Why does it try to re-configure the router? The iPad and the phones connect without any problems at all and stay connected without interuption. But the two laptops keep losing internet access! Jun 26, 2012I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.

Jul 17, 2011Why is it that my netbook doesn't have internet access on my Private Network? But when I connect it to my Guest Network, it does have an internet access. It's the only device I have that doesn't have internet access on my Private Network. The rest are working. I tried all the possible options to connect a device but still the problem exist.
