Linksys Wireless Router :: E1000 - Access Point Behind Airlink AR675W
Apr 28, 2013
In my own home just testing my E1000 works fine as an access point with an E3500 as primary router using Linksys:
method 1 (lan-lan connection) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.1.2 and DHCP off and with
method 2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
In my daughters building where I need it, I cannot get the E1000 to work as an access point. The primary router is an Airlink AR675W with ip 192.168.0.1 (255.255.255.0) delivering addresses 100 to 150.
When i try the E1000 in either method I get no internet connection on devices connected hardwired or wirelessly to the E1000. Before each setup I used the reset button and the factory defaults tab
method1 (lan-lan) I set the E1000 to IP 192.168.0.2 to be different than the Airlink and DHCP off.
method2 (lan-wan) with E1000 IP reset to 192.168.2.1 and DHCP On and different wireless SSID.
Why I cannot connect to the internet in this way behind the Airlink primary router.

For two years I had a 2-Wire home portal from AT&T for my DSL line. I also have DirecTV with a DVR that has an ethernet port to download video on demand from the internet. I bought a Linksys WAP54G to use as a pass-thru to the DVR and it has worked perfectly for the entire time. I remember that the setup was a nightmare, so I saved the settings in case I lost them.
when I connected the new E1000 router to a Netopia DSL modem, I decided to reconfigure the WAP to use the new router. I recovered the configuration file and the only thing that I had to change was the MAC address for the new router which I used with the Linksys' web-based setup tool. I used the network discovery and selected the new router. All of the settings including the router name, default gateway, and static address for the WAP54G were the same. But, when I go to the setup page for the DirecTV DVR and perform a network test, I get an OK connect to the local network, but an error22 and fail to connect to the Internet. Of course, going to the help page on the DVR for that error only gives the lame troubleshooting such as, is the router plugged in? Is the ethernet cable connected? etc.
I know that when I had to set it up with the original 2-wire portal, I had a lot of tweaking to do in the advanced wireless settings. I'm trying to setup using the WAP54G as a pass-thru bridge for DirecTV.

I am trying to determine the best option for extending my home network. I am currently running an E2000 as my router and am considering the purchase of a Valet Plus to use as only an Access Point. Alternatively I have a used E1000 in good condition. Which would be best for use as an Access Point only?

I have 2 laptops...a Compaq Presario (wireless b/g) running Win Xp and A Dell Vostro (wireless n) running Win 7 Pro. No problem with the Win XP but the Win 7 refuses to access the internet. It is connected to the E1000 but has limited access. All passcodes are correct...all settings are good. It has connected in the past but once in a while you have to force it to connect. Now it won't access the web, even thought the radio is connected

Turns out the IP address for both is 192.168.1.1 When I try to access my router, it automatically goes to the Verizon router. How can I get to the Cisco router? Aside from ,resetting it and running the setup disk?

I have a Linksys E1000 device that is connected to a DSL connection through a modem. I have a Laptop that is wirelessly connected to the router and a PC that is connected via cable. Lately, a problem started to occur where the router keeps losing the internet connection and Laptop tell me that it connected to the router but there in no internet access and the same thing happens to the PC, both disconnect at the same time. I called my ISP company when this happens and they told me that the connection is working fine and everything look ok from there. I connected my PC directly to the modem and it worked fine so problem is not from modem. When i go to the router settings at the moment this occurs, it shows that all IPs are 00000 and status is "Connecting" and then it connects and changes to "connected" and everything fine till like 15 minutes later where this happens again (sometimes, it actually disconnects again after like 15 seconds!). I took the router to the dealer and he examined it and told me there is nothing wrong but he updated the firmware and told me to try it but same thing so he exchanged it for a new one and problem is still there!

I got a refurbished E1000, has been great.
Using it w/ my HP laptop since July, just got Mac book and was trying to use w/ that addition laptop but could not find router password, also 192.168.11 would not let me access w/ password: admin, so I reset the router and renamed it. NOW my HP laptop shows my router connected, BUT will not access internet.

I've got a v1 E1000. Lately when I turn on one of my computers, or attempt to connect with my Motorola Xoom tablet it will show connected but I will not have internet access. Initially it will show that I have internet access but not work, then after about 1-2 minutes my PCs will show "No Internet access" for about 2-3 minutes, then it will show "Internet Acess" again and still not load. After that, in about 1-3 minutes the internet will start working and work as good as ever until I disconnect (manually or by turning off my computer) then connect again; the process described avove happens again.

I want to disable the guest access connection on E1000 wireless router but this option is not in the firmware menu. So, now I read that I need to use Cisco Connect on the CD to change this feature. When I run the Cisco Connect software, it says it can't configure the router (probably because I already have it configured). Why doesn't the Cisco Connect software simply take me to the settings where I can change the guest access feature? Why does it try to re-configure the router? Whoever designed this at Cisco was probably smokin some medical MJ because it doesn't make any sense that I have to go through so many hoops to do something so simple.

I have an ADSL modem connected to a Cisco E-1000 router. I have two laptops (Windows Vista and 7), an iPad and two smart phones. The iPad and the phones connect without any problems at all and stay connected without interuption. But the two laptops keep losing internet access! They stay connected 10-15 minutes, then invariably lose internet access. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect again to get back on the net - but again, only for 10-15 minutes.
I've tried many things - changing the channel, playing with all sorts of parameters (as suggested by the online chat guy) - but to no avail.

I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.

Why is it that my netbook doesn't have internet access on my Private Network? But when I connect it to my Guest Network, it does have an internet access. It's the only device I have that doesn't have internet access on my Private Network. The rest are working. I tried all the possible options to connect a device but still the problem exist.
By the way, I'm using E-1000 v2.1.02

Installed the disc that came with my router and can't get passed the point that requires a password. All my devices recognize the router but everything requires a password which I am able to provide. Can this router be setup without having Internet access if so then how?

I have a FIOS setup with their Router/modem providing DHCP and Wireless routing. The problem I have is that I have a mix of older equipment and newer equipment. The newer equipment is capable of supporting WPA2, the older is not. I would like the benefits of WPA2, but still would like to at times be able to use the older equipment. My solution was to use a WRT160N v2 router that I had as an access point and it also gives me switch capabilities for wired systems as the FIOS router in on a different floor than the Linksys router. Wired access works just fine and the wireless worked fine until just recently.Since both routers have the same default IP addresses I changed the Linksys to a different static IP and turned off DHCP. I left all of the other defaults the same. I set up the Linksys for WEP and created the key for security. Everything worked fine for the better part of a year, but recently I am having problems where some of the computers cannot find the network or find it then lose connection.

I'm currently using my WRT320N router as an access point (connected to another linksys router), but I've lost my username and password to access the web-based utility. So I need to press the reset button and set it up again. Currently everything is working fine, but I've forgotten how to configure the router for this purpose, and I can't find instructions in the user's guide online. I seem to remember it being troublesome. I know I have to assign a different IP address (currently I'm using 192.168.1.113.) What other settings (if any) need to be changed?

I am using a newer wireless router but would like to use my older wrt54g router as an access point (wired and wireless) at the other end of my house. how to do it, and what the specific settings should be, especially the security settings. I can connect the wrt54g via a homeplug (cannot run a LAN cable). I had previously tried an Aztech wireless homeplug but found the security feature to be worthless and everyone was able to "break-in".

I have a WRT 160n I want to use as an access point. The cable company has provided the main router so I want to use the 160 as the access point. I have a switch attached to the router and have the 160 attached to the switch. I can ping and access the 160, however there signal strength has not changed and is still extremely low. I know that the strength on the router is very good when I plug it in to the cable modem.

i am thinking of buying Linksys x2000 , WAG160N or any other you suggest to use as a wireless access point. Is it possible? My setup is : I get my internet from my neighbor by ethernet cable from his router. My house is two-storied and ethernet cable comes to top left corner of first floor and the devices(two notebook) are on the bottom right corner at the second floor , insulation greatly reduces the signal strength.
