Can the EA6500 be set up as an access point connected to a remote router which has a connection to the DSL modem?I want to replace one of my wireless access points with a faster wireless interface, but this will be connected via hard wire CAT-5 cable located away from my modem/router.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBefore the latest update and with the latest update, after about one week, I cannot access the router wirelessly using 192.168.1.1. Using IE 10, Chrome, and FireFox all give me no response. I type in the address and the web page never changes. It keeps me at the home page of my browser. I do not get any errors or messages.
Also I tried to use the DHCP Reservation page, and the names of the devices will not allow spaces or any special characters. Sure would be nice to allow such.
I just noticed that my router reverted back to 1.1.28.146856. I have updated twice via the web browser to version 1.1.28.147876 and once via direct connection and the downloaded file, but the router keeps reverting back to the older firmware.
192.168.100.1 is how I access my modem using the 4100, but since buying EA6500 I can no longer find the config screen. connect to there modem from the EA6500?

When I try to copy a file to the drive VIA the network folder on my computer it says "Destination Folder Access Denied, You Need Permision To Perform This Action". I used to be able to copy files to the drive so I am sure it is just a setting on the router or something.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust setup my new EA6500 router and while in general it seems to be performing ok I am experiencing some problems with the admin. It seems that frequently either via cloud or local i get the cannot find router message or waiting graphic which results me in having to manually reboot the router so that i can access the admin page again, The router still works fine but no admin access until i physically reboot. This kind of defeats the whole purpose of using cloud if just by accessing the router or making changes it leaves admin access inoperable!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a FIOS setup with their Router/modem providing DHCP and Wireless routing. The problem I have is that I have a mix of older equipment and newer equipment. The newer equipment is capable of supporting WPA2, the older is not. I would like the benefits of WPA2, but still would like to at times be able to use the older equipment.My solution was to use a WRT160N v2 router that I had as an access point and it also gives me switch capabilities for wired systems as the FIOS router in on a different floor than the Linksys router. Wired access works just fine and the wireless worked fine until just recently.Since both routers have the same default IP addresses I changed the Linksys to a different static IP and turned off DHCP. I left all of the other defaults the same. I set up the Linksys for WEP and created the key for security. Everything worked fine for the better part of a year, but recently I am having problems where some of the computers cannot find the network or find it then lose connection.

I am using a newer wireless router but would like to use my older wrt54g router as an access point (wired and wireless) at the other end of my house. how to do it, and what the specific settings should be, especially the security settings. I can connect the wrt54g via a homeplug (cannot run a LAN cable). I had previously tried an Aztech wireless homeplug but found the security feature to be worthless and everyone was able to "break-in".

I have a switch attached to the router and have the 160 attached to the switch. I can ping and access the 160, however there signal strength has not changed and is still extremely low. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
1. Just got a new DLINK Xtreme N DIR-825 Router. Directly connected this to the internet.
2. Currently, the Linksys WRT54G (1st Generation) is connected to the DLINK by an Ethernet cable to one of the 4 ports on the back.
3. The Linksys further splits the signal to another 2 computers and a NAS by hardwire.
4. The internet is still getting through to all the computers, but the computers are not able to access the NAS or each other.
5. I can't seem to open the WRT54G's access (192.168.1.1) because (I thin) the new DLINK uses a local set of IPs that are 192.168.0.1xx.
I can login to the NAS using its IP, and I can see it on the 'Network Places' of the computers ,but when I try to connect, it says the drive is moved, etc. etc.I use a variety of computers / O.S's on this system: XP (2) hardwired, Win 7 (2) hard wired, Win 7 (1) wireless, Mac OS X Snow Leopard (1) Wireless, plus various other wireless devices (phones,Wii, etc.).
NAS is a Synology DS411+
1) Get logged into my Linksys
2) Get the NAS accepted by other computers on the network.
I would like to configure it as an access point on my LAN, similar to the way my WAP55AG works.My research on the Internet and on these forums indicate that I have to disable DHCP on the router as well as use the LAN ports to connect it to my network.I am able to turn off DHCP, but assigning it a static IP address is challenging.I can set the IP address, but I am unable to set the subnet mask to 255.255.254.0 as I am only getting a set of SM in a drop down list whick are all 255.255.255.x

I would like to continue to use the E2500 as a wireless access point only, providing WiFi connection to the SonicWALL. How do I set up the E2500 for this purpose. I assume I switch off the DHCP server and NAT within the device. Is there a dedicated "access point" mode?

I would like to setup the WRT160N downstairs to wire the DirecTv box and PS3 to it. Then wirelessly connect to the E4200 upstairs where our modem is connected. I also have a WRT54G2 laying around.
