Connection Between Access Point / Router Or Cable Modem - Internet Broken

Jan 31, 2012

My laptop died last week and have been using my husbands, which I hate! We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.

Linksys Access Point :: Connect And Configure WAP54G Access Point To New Cable Modem?

Nov 1, 2012

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at does not work.

Zyxel - Ethernet Cable Portal On Laptop Broken / Cannot Access Internet

Jun 20, 2012

I do not have access to internet (I'm on some unsecured internet from around here now, very slow). When I start the internetdiagnostics from windows, he says it's the modem or the connection from laptop, router, modem to internet. However, the lights indicating internet and dsl on the modem are brightly burning and the router shows nothing abnormal too.

I have a WPA2-PSK security, the modem is Zyxel. Also, the ethernetcable portal on my laptop is broken, so I can't do anything non-wireless. My phone has the same problem with this internet, it can get a connection, but no internet.

Cisco Wireless :: 602-OEAP Access Point Broken After WLC Upgrade To

Mar 7, 2013

I have a TAC case open, but it doesn't seem to be making any progress.I upgraded my 5508 controller from up to of my APs are fine. 3500s, 1100s etc.except for 602i APs. The APs associate, they update software etc, but they won't broadcast the WLAN.An interesting thing, on the 602 AP, in the log, I see this:*Mar 06 15:08:12.667: SSID remote, WLAN Profile Name: RemoteOEAP, added to the slot[0], disabled..So the AP is definately talking to the WLC and being pushed the correct WLAN profile. On the controller, the AP shows the the Admin status of the radios is showing DOWN, but the Admin status on the AP itself shows UP
I've done a factory reset on the APs to no avail. I have a 2504 WLC as well that i'm in the process of implementing in a DMZ specificially for these APs, and for testing purposes, I associated the 602 Ap to that WLC as well. This one is running too, same results. It would appear to be a problem with this version of software?

Asus RT-N12B1 / Port Forwarding Broken With Installation Of Access Point?

Mar 3, 2012

I recently purchased an Asus RT-N12B1. It has an external hardware switch which allows the router to operate in different modes. I put in access point mode. Then I connected an ethernet cable from a LAN port on my Verizon supplied Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 E router to a LAN port on the access point and turned off the wireless in the router.

I have dynamic DNS setup and port forwarding setup in the router to forward from port 50000 to which is a server plugged into a LAN port on the router. This is no longer working since adding the AP and disabling wireless on the primary router. how to debug?

In the / 8 subnet are some akamai cdn servers (yes, the fbcdn .After some time I've found, that routing table in wrtp54g contains also entries:                               LAN&Wireless2.0.0.0                               LAN&Wireless

which cannot be deleted. It looks like someone wanted to filter dark space when the router was developed. Is there any way, to get rid of it? I've restored to factory defaults, no change. Firmware version is 3.1.27.ETSI

Installed Windows 7 Now Have Broken Internet Connection

Feb 25, 2011

For about two months now I have been experiencing a problem with my Internet connection. It started when I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 530s from 64 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. After a day, I started getting the "Local Area Connection: A network cable is unplugged or broken internet connection." However, the cable is not unplugged. My other PC and laptop (which is wireless) can connect to the Internet, so I know it's not my ISP or my router. It only happens about every other day. It would work perfectly on day and other day I would go to my internet and I would have no connection. The weird thing is that when I restart my computer, it connects right away. My other two computers that was upgraded also does not have this problem.

First, I thought it may be the cable, so I replaced it with another cable I had. No luck. Then I thought it may be the port on the router, so I plugged it into one of the other ports (including the port that the working PC was plugged into). Next, I checked Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) 8256v-2 10/100 Connection. There is no exclamation point next to it. Plus, under Properties, it indicates that this device is working properly.I shut down all my computers, and unplugged the dsl modem and router. I waited a few minutes and then plugged in the modem, followed by the router. Once both of those were fully booted, I turned my computers back on. Still after a few hours, I lost connection.Following this, I went to Run, typed "cmd" and then "ipconfig." Under Windows IP Configuration, it reads:"Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State.........: Media Disconnected."

Motorola SURFboard Extreme Cable Modem Is Connected But No Internet Access

Nov 7, 2012

Today I purchased a Motorola SURFboard extreme Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0 in order to replace my old modem which is out of date and has been very slow as of late. I connected the coaxial cable, Ethernet cable(to Linksys wireless router), and power expecting it to simply work. All four lights came on green (power, downstream, upstream, connectivity). The downstream light turned blue which indicates a bonded connection. The device light was blinking on the modem. I connected to my wireless router, but no internet access. I then tried connecting my laptop to the modem directly via Ethernet cable, still no access. I think that rules out the router being the problem. I also ruled out my laptop being the problem as the same thing is occurring with my other laptop and desktop. I called my ISP (Cox Cable) and had them re-establish connection with my modem, this did nothing. I thought for sure this meant I had purchased a faulty modem; I hooked up my old modem and the results were the same, the modem connected fully with no problem (all four lights were green) but I have no internet access.

Linksys Access Point :: No IP Via DHCP And No Internet Connection On WAP300N

Mar 17, 2013

To extend my wired ethernet I have purchased a WAP300N access point and connected it according to the instructions. I can see the AP from a wireless client and connect, but no IP number is provided to the client. The AP is connected to a router which has a DHCP server via wired connection (though a switch). The AP does it self get an IP number from the router but does not pass through DHCP requests from the clients.Occasionally an IP number is provided, but then there is no route to the LAN or the WAN on the other side of the AP.I have tried a whole lot of things to make it work (and been in the internet chat for two hours with a Linksys supporter, who could not make it work either).I have tried to set the IP number in the AP to static.I have tried to remove security (has to be WPA2 eventually, but for the sake of testing it has been removed)I have tried to factory resetI have tried to reinstall the firmware (the same version as the factory installed)etc.

Cisco WAN :: 2611 - Connecting Home Lab Router To Cable Modem Over Wireless Access

Mar 11, 2012

My home lab is in a different room than the cable modem.  I have a wireless N router in the room with the cable modem.  I have a wireless access point that is connected to a Cisco 2611XM routers fa0/0 interface.  The 2611 accepts the DHCP address from the wireless router.  However, I can't ping past the wireless LAN network. I know with the wireless router it's two layers of DHCP.  Should remove  the DHCP settings from the wireless router?  The wireless router is a  TrendNet TEW-651BR.  I can ping my iphone or any device conntected to the wireless router.  And my laptop can ping default gateway of the wireless router, which I assume is the cable modem, however the 2611 cannot.  So I'm assuming that's why the hosts behind the 2611 can't get to the internet.  I followed the below instructions.   I know the instructions don't assume your using a wirelss router between 2611 and the cable modem.  But, I really don't want to run a cable to the cable modem.
