So saturday, my friend and i build my computer. Everything worked just fine that day. Sunday i had no problem connecting to the internet. Sunday is also the day i set up a password for my admin account.
Now when i came back from work monday, i tried to log in to my computer. As it appears, i forgot my password... (same i use on everything, so i must have messed up inputting my pass)
So i did a windows reset, since i had no CD or USB to reset my pass. I tried installing windows, and it appears 'this copy of windows is not genuine'. I thought, okay, no prob, as long as i have all options.
I have a new ish Dell laptop with Windows 7 We recently got a new router in our house however it will connect wirelessly only eith ethernet cable. The other laptops in my house work fine but not mine!Mine is the newest Every now and again if i reset the box it works but only for 1 minute.I have tried most common testing I've seen on my laptop and used my suppliers handbook etc..
I have a desktop running windows XP Professional x32 SP3 and my network adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. The desktop is connected to the network with an ethernet cable.Up until yesterday the internet connectivity just stopped working. I am seeing a very low number of received packets as opposed to the high number when it was working. It is showing that it is connected to the network but I still can't access the internet. Also I should mention that the desktop is at work and it is connected to a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses. I have updated all the drivers and I have used Winsock Fix and Netsh but it still isn't working. However the weird thing is that if assign a static IP address to it...it works. But I can't do this because I am not suppose to hook it up to the ports assigned to the switch for static IP's. It has to be connected to the DHCP switch. Why does it work when assigned a static but not if it gets an IP assigned by the DHCP server or switch. Also even if I try to reset, renew or release the IP...when I connect again it still gives me the same IP. It wont change.
I've been given a used Dell Latitude laptop and need to access the web to register Microsoft Office, which is currently unlicensed on my machine. I took the cable connector from the back of my PC and put it into the port of the Dell, hoping that that would be sufficient. However, it doesn't connect. The gubbins that is displayed for the local area connection status says something about 80 packets sent and only 8 received.
I do not have access to internet (I'm on some unsecured internet from around here now, very slow). When I start the internetdiagnostics from windows, he says it's the modem or the connection from laptop, router, modem to internet. However, the lights indicating internet and dsl on the modem are brightly burning and the router shows nothing abnormal too.
I have a WPA2-PSK security, the modem is Zyxel. Also, the ethernetcable portal on my laptop is broken, so I can't do anything non-wireless. My phone has the same problem with this internet, it can get a connection, but no internet.
The detected problem is the connection between my access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken. The network gateway is accessible, but Windows couldn't receive network traffic from the Internet. All other devices (iPad, Xbox, android phone) have no problem connecting to the Internet.Desktop is the only one experiencing the connection issue.
My laptop died last week and have been using my husbands, which I hate! We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.
Today I purchased a Motorola SURFboard extreme Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0 in order to replace my old modem which is out of date and has been very slow as of late. I connected the coaxial cable, Ethernet cable(to Linksys wireless router), and power expecting it to simply work. All four lights came on green (power, downstream, upstream, connectivity). The downstream light turned blue which indicates a bonded connection. The device light was blinking on the modem. I connected to my wireless router, but no internet access. I then tried connecting my laptop to the modem directly via Ethernet cable, still no access. I think that rules out the router being the problem. I also ruled out my laptop being the problem as the same thing is occurring with my other laptop and desktop. I called my ISP (Cox Cable) and had them re-establish connection with my modem, this did nothing. I thought for sure this meant I had purchased a faulty modem; I hooked up my old modem and the results were the same, the modem connected fully with no problem (all four lights were green) but I have no internet access.
A friend recently re-installed windows XP on their HP Laptop. They were connected wirelessly with a Linsys router (model wrt54g.1) and an RCA Cable Modem. The Cable ISP can ping the modem and gave me the IP address over the phone. I cannot ping the modem even when I take the router out of the loop. The network card (i1394) in the Laptop is functioning normally and I can see traffic on the modem (both the Cable Internet light and the PC activity light are flashing green) the ethernet port on the laptop is also flashing (amber). However I cannot reach the internet and cannot even ping the modem. The modem is brand new..
I want to connect my satellite receiver to my modem through Ethernet cables. First connect the modem to Ethernet outlet using standard small Ethernet cable.connect Ethernet outlet A to outlet B using Ethernet cable inside the wall.connect outlet B to the receiver using standard small Ethernet cable.I want to know how I make the connection in outlet A and outlet B to make this work.
We have a E3200 wireless router but our only connection is wireless. There is no Ethernet connection or cable modem. Presently I am unable to bring up the web page ie...10.100.x.x for entering the id/pw to login. Router is setup with default settings. Is there a setting that needs to be changed from the setup menu or this type of setup will not work with this router.
I have a computer that runs windows 7, and I run an ethernet cable from netgear router into my computer. It used to run fine, but all of a sudden it stopped recognizing the ethernet cable, and I can not access internet.
I know it is not the cable because I can plug in the same ethernet cable to my laptop (runs XP) and it recognizes and I can access internet.
Also, I know it's not the slot on the router because because I switched places with my other ethernet cable that plugs into Netgear Powerline Ethernet Adapter for my Xbox, and the slot recognizes the adapter just fine.
So I am thinking it has to do something with Win 7 or the computer. My computer does have the wireless capability, and I am running it on wireless right now.
Ever since moving back in with my dad, I haven't been able to connect directly to the modem. I can connect to the wireless network, but whenever I try and plug straight into the modem, nothing changes and I stay on the wireless. I'm running Windows 7?
My computer specs are as follows (directly from the TSG SysInfo application):

Today when I came home from school, I opened my computer like everyday. Suddenly I noticed that my Internet isn't working. It said I need to connect the Ethernet Cable. Well, my cable sometimes gets loose, so I tried to tighten it up a bit but that didn't work. I tried the cable with another computer and it works fine. I checked device manager and everything should be fine there.computer is running Windows 7 Professional.Drivers are up to date, and nothing changed in the computer since yesterday when it was still working. Could it be just that the Ethernet cable port suddenly broke down? I also tried another cable, and that didn't work either. I restored the system to previous saved point.
I have DOCSIS 3.0 modem and a Linksys E1000 wireless router with which I get reults from SpeedTest of 8.6 mps down, 1.57 mps up up from 15 mps service from cable provider. Connected to modem via ethernet cable produces 16.0 speeds. Do I need to upgrade the router or are my settings wrong?
I am having problems connecting my PC (Win7) to my Router (Netgear DGN2000) via ethernet cable.Wi-fi is working fine but I want to speed up my connection using the PC's Gigabit port. Here are the problems:
- When connecting via wi-fi everything is fine
- When enabling my LAN WITH wi-fi still enabled I lose all internet connectivity
- When enabling my LAN and disabling wi-fi lose all internet connectivity
Here is my IP Config when both are enabled :

Is there a difference in an ethernet cable and an Ethernet networking cable? I have an Ethernet cable and a 6 port splitter I am trying to connect. I have 4 ports in the router that are in use. When I connect them to the splitter nothing s working.
My WinXP Home PC won't connect properly (limited connectivity/no internet) via ethernet cable to my router (Belkin N150). Ipconfig /all shows the IP address as 169.254.117.71 but this is determined by an entry in the registry at HLMSYSTEMCurre....'DhcpIPAddress' - REG_SZ - 169.254.117.71. Also listed at 'IPAutoconfigurationAddress'. My laptop connects fine plugged into the same port getting it's IP automatically (192.168.2.2) and getting internet fine. I've tried adding a DWORD entry 'IPAutoconfigurationEnabled' = 0, also tried deleting the 2 values.Tried setting the IP manually to 192.168.2.6 - limited connectivity goes away but I get no internet connection from the router nor file sharing.
I cannot get wireless collection to work up stairs with the WUS600N Adaptor at all,and with the modem 20 feet from from my laptop downstairs i am only getting 3 BAR SIGNAL STRENTH.Just had Replacement WAG160N ALEX A V2 as my other one died ,(did not have a problem with the one sent back for replacement) Have the latest firmware 00.20 installed model serial No is SSH10JA11079.WUS600N V1 latest drivers for windows 7 .03.10.Windows detects the modem ok, but there is no signal at all up stairs and with the modem downstairs even the wireless on the laptop (15 feet from the modem) is only 3 bar signal strength ,did have this problem with the one I sent back. I have gone through all the wireless channels setup in the set up page with customer support (5 hours!)
I wiped vista and installed windows Xp now my modem wont recognize and i dont have internet. i have tried burning the Drivers from Cisco onto another CD From another Machine but it says it needs internet connection to do so. i can't connect or anything i have a DPC2203 cable modem?
I'm visiting my friend at her apartment and her internet only works through an ethernet cable. I unplugged the cable from her computer and plugged it into mine and it worked perfectly but when we switched it back to her computer her internet takes forever to identify and ends with local only connection how do we fix her computer?
For some reason, i cannot connect to the internet using my current ethernet cable. I am 100% positive that adapter is working fine, as i had maintenance come into my room and check it out, but my computer won't connect to their internet through my cable. [code]
i went over to my grandma house and got wireless mouse and the mouse uses a floppy disk to put some sort of wizard wireless network thing on my computer but now i cxan use said floppy disk be cause it broke but ever sence i used that i cant conect to the internet
Just got a new modem and it works fine while connected through an ethernet cord but I can't connect wirelessly. My network doesn't even show up in the list of available networks. I'm using Vista by the way. I've downloaded all drivers that seemed to have something to do with my problem. [code]
I recently got Fios installed in my home. I believe there is a box the size of a power box in the back room for the Internet. All my other devices (MAC, iPod, Blueray Player) are able to recieve instant and unbelieveable internet connection except for my Dell. I have a Studio XPS Dell computer with windows 7. I plugged in the ethernet cable in the back of my computer and into the "Fios Box" but i didn't recieve any internet. Then i bought a wireless adapter and I do get internet but it disconnects me like every 5 minutes.
I'm trying to share my wifi internet from my pc to my old mac ive connected them via ethernet cable, from my understanding the mac has been assigned an ip address, but I can not use the internet on it.
I've been using the Linksys router e1000 N type for a week now and it hasn't beeen such a great experience. The thing is when i connect the modem to my laptop via ethernet cable internet works but not when i connect the cable to the router even though this worked before. actually a few hours before. so i dont know whats happened to my router since clearly the problem is in there. the modem has lights for PC Cable DATA and POWER. The lights to all of them blink when i have connected the modem directly to laptop but the PC light is non existent when i connect it to router. hence i get no internet access. the routers power is on so i dont know what the prob is ive rebooted it a few times but to no avail.
I am in a College dorm and the only access to internet we have is by connecting an Ethernet cable to the connection in the wall and straight to the computer. That is how I have internet as we speak and it works fine. Problem is, that when I plug it in into the xbox it doesnt even connect to the network?
