I'm trying to find out if there is anyway to enable telnet access on the WAG120n modem/router .I can't seem to be able to find related info in the support web site for this device. Any info if telnet is even available ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've never setup a router before, but when I tried to setup this one it required me to put in the isp ip, subnet, gateway, and dns. I assumed that this was not my ip but the ip of zoomtown which when i looked at the old routers info i figured this was the ip under the configurations summary that said wan ip, perhpaps i was wrong, i'm not sure but this ip info is static it does not change , but I believe the individual computers ip addresses use dhcp and are not static.

I can't get a new IP from my ISP when my Cable modem router(EPC3925) is set to router mode, i have tried factory restore, unplugged etc..but still no luck. It changes each time i reset it when i set it to bridged only mode but then i won't be able to connect other devices to it since it doesn't uses DHCP in bridged only mode. It changes back to the IP i had when i set it to router mode. I don't want to change my router settings to bridged only because it would disconnect the other devices in my house. Why my ISP assigns the same IP address when it's set to router mode but assigns different IPs when it's set to bridged only, how is this possible ?

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.

My home lab is in a different room than the cable modem. I have a wireless N router in the room with the cable modem. I have a wireless access point that is connected to a Cisco 2611XM routers fa0/0 interface. The 2611 accepts the DHCP address from the wireless router. However, I can't ping past the wireless LAN 192.168.10.0 network. I know with the wireless router it's two layers of DHCP. Should remove the DHCP settings from the wireless router? The wireless router is a TrendNet TEW-651BR. I can ping my iphone or any device conntected to the wireless router. And my laptop can ping default gateway of the wireless router, which I assume is the cable modem, however the 2611 cannot. So I'm assuming that's why the hosts behind the 2611 can't get to the internet. I followed the below instructions. I know the instructions don't assume your using a wirelss router between 2611 and the cable modem. But, I really don't want to run a cable to the cable modem.

Basically TELNET is following the rules ( priv=0 not allowed to access enable ) but SSH is not following the rules ( both priv=15 and priv=0 cannot access the command ) is there a way from blocking somes users from login in completely?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just bought an X1000 box, it seems to be randomly locking up and the only way around the issue is to reboot. I have also noticed it can't seem to handle streaming video either.
My ADSL has been checked and all is OK and if I don't stream video generally things seem OK for a couple of days. If I run a continual ping to the unit you can see that now and again the request times out but then some times comes back and other times I need to reboot again. The log file seems to show very little either.
I desperately try to set up the X3000 as a router behind a vDSL modem. When I choose connection through Ethernet and then PPPoE, it never keep the credentials after reboot in spite of having saved the data before.

I'm following the same process that worked without issue the day previously.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur router is connected through a cable modem and If I connect my computer directly wired to the cable modem, I have no problem, it does not disconnect at all.In comes the router in between, when I connect the router and connect my computer through the router WRT54G2, it works initially then I get disconnected after about 1-2 hours. This is very regular. I have a temporary solution by resetting the router via two ways:
1. Go to the admin page, and perform a release and renew IP method.
2. Simply power off the router and then on again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an EA2700 (fimware "classic" 1.0.14.129982) that used to work perfectly fine with a Comcast cable modem. I just recently switched to Charter with an Arris TM902 modem and that's where the problems started. The cable modem will not recognize my router. I have to plug in a computer into the cable model when it starts up. Then I need to clone the MAC address and restart the router (after disconnecting the computer). Why isn't the cable modem recognizing the router when I restart it? I guess this could work if it would be a one time thing but I had to power-cycle the modem and it stopped recognizing the router even with the cloned MAC address. So I had to do the whole spiel again.
Is there any way to make this work easier? Should I update my router's firmware to the "smart" one?
Now unable to connect laptop wirelessly. The laptop can see the connection, but when I click it to connect it just doesn't. Have tried rebooting both laptop, desktop and modem, left it overnight, can't connect smartphone to it either. All were working perfectly until I had to reinstall.
