I have more than 20 SF 300-24P 10/100 Managed Switch switches deployed and running in my office network. All these switches have web configuration utility enabled. We would like to enable telnet too. But for this I know I have to visit site to site, connect the switch manually with a laptop and enable telnet option. I am looking for how can I enable telnet in these switches using web-based switch configuration utility.

Basically TELNET is following the rules ( priv=0 not allowed to access enable ) but SSH is not following the rules ( both priv=15 and priv=0 cannot access the command ) is there a way from blocking somes users from login in completely?

I can telnet to switch from checkpoint firewall access port and from switch directly. I can ping/traceroute successfully to the switch. Access-lists 14 & 15 are allowing the traffic I want. The router on the other side of the FW has 2 static routes and a default static route set up.

Not sure of checkpoint firewall config....I have run wireshark when trying to telnet and I get no syn-ack back from remote switch. Just 3 consecutive syn attempts.I have some switches I can connect to and they go right through the 3 way TCP handshake and I cannot find any differences in the configs between the successful connections and the unsuccessful connections.
I'm doing some tesing in SFE2000P linksys switch about the TACACS authentication. I have configured the switch accodringly to point my ACS server with key string. Now, I'm able to login into the switch with TACACS account in HTTP/HTTPS only and but, not with the TELNET access.
Still Switch is authenticating with the local user account only, when in TELNET access method.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an SG300 authenticating telnet login to a RADIUS server. It allows me to log in at Priv level 1. when I try and enter Priv 15 mode, I'm prompted for a password which I don't appear to be able to set anywhere or know.
If I remove RADIUS and go back to Local authentication, telnet logs me in at Priv15 immediately.
We've got a SG200-18 switch that is to be used as a workgroup switch in our environment (SW Version 1.1.1.8). Working with CLI on big and mid-range Cisco-gear over the past two decades I'm having a hard time figuring out the following on the SG200:
o) I want to change the Management-VLAN from the default "1" to the management-VLAN used in our environment. Sure enough I created that vlan in the SG200-config, however when it comes to assigning the management-IP and VLAN for the management interface in the corresponding pulldown under "IPv4 interface -> Management VLAN" the only thing selectable is the default "1". (see screenshots enclosed)So how do I set a management VLAN different from 1?
o) How do I enable telnet/ssh-access to the SG200-18 - I'd be far more comfortable with a CLI-environment?

We have recently purchased SG 300-52Port Cisco Switch to support our Network but they constantly having some bizarre issues or I assume bugs, i.e. we cannot Telnet nor SSH to the switch now, whereas we were able to SSH before, we have set them up for Remote Log Services to get some syslogs and reports but no report have been generated nor logs,
I have done some testing through Wireshark and there are absolutely no reports / logs.We have some real issues with this switch and it’s hard to believe that this is a Cisco Product,

I want to remotely access Cisco 500 switches via TELNET and WEB BASED from a server. I dont know the ip addresses for Cisco 500 switches which are configured as backbone which the ip address assigned on the network is static ip address. Specifically I want to get their configuations inorder to get their specified assigned vlans on the network. I know the ip addresses for their specified cisco 500 switches' gateways. I know that cisco 500 switches can be accesses through web. Is there other ways to solve the problem apart from going onsite and connect to the cisco 500 switches using network cable since cisco 500 swithes dont have console ports?

Later i have connected another PC. The packets got dropped. But when i connected the original PC again, the packets flow started again.So, i have a doubt. Will the packet flow get establish, when the original PC is connected again to a port which is applied with port security violation "Restrict"?

On catalyst I saw that it was sufficient to activate this control "authentication control-direction {both | in}" Except that it seems not to exist on this switch. Is there another way to enable 802.1x on WoL without using this command?
Or how to allow the magic packet (WoL) on a tagged port by unauthorized 802.1x?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup an ACL on my SG300-20 to enable FTP and a few other protocols to a server, but I'm running data that returns on different ports (ie active FTP).
Below is a sample:

Now that works great to allow a connection, but with active ftp when the data tries to come back on a different port (I assume) it is just hung up as all other ports are denied.
I event tried allowing all ports to come back from the server:

But that also didn't work seem to work.
I've played around with this in layer2 and layer3 to no avail. I've also seen many tips on applying in and out to the various interfaces, but that doesn't seem to work. Is that something that is only available on higher end switchers/firewalls?

I recently purchased an SG300-28P. I have 2 VLANS/subnets that are successfully routing between them.Machines on both sides can ping each other just fine, but none of the usual Windows/NetBIOS browsing is possible. I've recently learned that NetBIOS is not usually forwarded between subnets. How would I enable NetBIOS packet forwarding between my subnets?
Reading the manual, it seems like enabling UDP Relay might be the answer but I've been unable to get it to work (same with DHCP relay).

Cannot connect to ACS device using telnet IP: port 1812? Seems it is using this port config by default.Is it because of the port it's trying to use? Is there a way of changing the port? If so, where does one do this in the ACS device?I have two 4400 series WLC's one is on the same network segment as the ACS, I can authenticate through the ACS on this one. The other WLC at a different location, cannot authenticate through the ACS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 891 router I have been testing some things on. I have been able to successfully telnet to it in the past with no problems. Just yesterday I was trying to set an interface to have an IP of 10.10.10.2 which I realized was an IP I had forgot to exlcude from DHCP and it was handed out to the computer I was using to telnet in. So I wrote in the exlcude commands and did an ipconfig -release ipconfig -renew on my PC that had the 10.10.10.2 IP. After the renew I was given 10.10.10.7 (put in a few more excludes).However the release dropped my telnet connection and afterwards I was completely unable to telnet in, getting the error that says I cannot open the connection on port 23. I had made some changes to my entire config beforehand which had it switch to use a new public IP. I never saved the changes and did a hard reset by unplugging the router to get my old config back and see if I could telnet after that. Still could not get in, same error. Well I went through and remade my entire config to use the new public IP. My 10.10.10.7 PC can access the internet, DNS, ping the router, all just fine. Still can't telnet. I remade my line/vty config and made sure it matched up with a config I had on another router. Still can't telnet. Last thing I did was go in and manually clear all open line connections. All that is left is an idle 0 con 0 line that it wont let me close. Still can't telnet.What the **** is going on with this thing? I am completely at a loss to explain why I cant telnet. It must be something in my ACLs that I am missing?

SSH & telnet allowed from inside to 0.0.0.0 i have re-generated rsa keys when it was working. ASA version is 8.2 now when i connect telent is giving me blank prompt. i can login using ASDM.
