View 2 Replies View RelatedThe only thing I notice now is that channels 12 and 13 do not work properly. Setting the router to channels 12 and 13 basically sets the channel to something in the 1 - 11 range as seen by inSSIDer. This could be because the firmware I installed is the US version, which only has channels 1 - 11, but the EU version has channels 1 - 13. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but because there are a lot of wireless signals where I live, channels 1 - 11 are quite congested, so channel 13 was quite useful to me.I don't suppose anyone has a EU version of the WAG160NV2 2.00.17 firmware do they?Channels 12 and 13 worked fine with the EU version of the WAG160NV2 2.00.20 firmware but of course only at 2Mbps.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSignal drops constantly and seems to be a problem with the Mac more than the router IMHO but i thought to register the problem here.
I'm not alone as many users on the Apple support forum are experiencing the same drops via airport and with different routers.. Lan line works fine for me with no issues
I will update the firmware and try that as it seems i am running old firmware V2.00.13
my WAG160Nv2 drops the connection each day at the same hour (4:20pm to 4:40pm aprox.)I think that is because my ISP don't give me a static IP address and the connection must dropped once a day. in my old router I could put the time for the drop. I don't find something similar in the WAG160Nv2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave noticed that wireless download speed deteriorated since they installed this?
Mine seems horrendously slower.
I have a WAG160Nv2 and I want to block specific external ip addresses from trying to get at our server that uses the WAG160Nv2 as an internet gateway. It's not immediately obvious if this can be done from looking through the config pages.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway you can assign a static IP address within WAG160Nv2 to peripherals such as an XBOX?
The knowledge base only seems to show how to assign an IP address in the XBOX but when I have to reboot the router, I've noticed the XBOX is assigned a new IP address when viewed in the router pages.
If I set a permanent IP address in the XBOX, this will no longer match what is in the router.
Here's the problem : I've installed this router to a friends of mine home and since then in the gam "Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War 2 : Retribution" they can't play together (they're connected via WAN) in a 2v2 without getting disconnected FROM THE INTERNET (not only the game, the whole ADSL line collapse after an over 3000ms of ping for few sec.). Same thing if one of them try to make a 3v3 (so 1 with the WAG160Nv2, and 2 other persons via internet.), 3000pings for few sec and then they get DC from the internet, after few sec the router gets back online but still they can't play together or make a 3v3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a SBS 2003 server with two NIC's, one for the internal LAN and the other connecting to the WAG160Nv2 that is hooked up to the internet. The internal LAN clients are all getting IP addresses from the DHCP server in the SBS Server (192.168.16.XXX). The DHCP server is sat at 192.168.16.2.The only thing connected to the LAN ports on the WAG160Nv2 is the Internet facing NIC from the server. What I want to do is to get the WAG160Nv2 to give IP addresses to Wireless connections going through the router, can I configure the DHCP relay option on the WAG160Nv2 to do this, I have looked at the DHCP relay option but it doesn't seem to work, my wireless connections are getting private 169.254.xxx.xxx addresses. Also is there anything I can do to make the wireless more Apple friendly, iPhones and iPads drop of the wireless frequently, that's why I trying a different approach.

1. Allow Internet Access to both the desktops without loosing connectivity or without comporomising on speed.
2. Allow file/disk haring of desktop 2 with desktop 1.
Last week, a big storm rolled through my town while I was out of the area on business. I had a working LAN/WLAN for my home & home office, and the modem I was using got fried by the storm. Strangely enough nothing else was affected..Anyway, I went out and bought an identical modem, and had it set up with Comcast. If I connect directly to the modem, everything works perfectly. But when I try to attach my router to the new modem, I have no connectivity over wifi OR hardwired to the router. According to the status light on the router, it can't find a connected modem.I reset the router back to factory settings, installed the newest firmware, and moved my DHCP pool out of the default range. I then power cycled the whole setup - twice - with no success.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought an ASUS Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U) to upgrade from my older router but I'm having a problem: It won't connect to my cable modem (via the WAN ethernet port), so I can't connect to the internet. [URL]
When I connect the router to my computer via ethernet cable, the light on the ethernet port of the router comes on (an orange LED light), but when I connect my cable modem (or computer) to the the router through the WAN ethernet port, the WAN port's LED does not come on at all and I keep getting an error message on my browser saying that I need to make sure the ethernet cable is connected.
I've tried three different ethernet cables, including the one that came with the router, with no luck (WAN LED lights never come on, so I assume that this means that there is no activity at all). I've also tried cloning the MAC address, restoring to factory default, updating the routers firmware, and holding the reset button on the modem for 15 seconds, among other things.
Also, something that might be worth noting: While one end is connected to my modem, if I plug the ethernet cord into one of the 4 ethernet ports on the router, the green LED instantly turns on but, as I said before, there's no activity when plugged into the WAN port. My modem is an Arris TM052G (DOCSIS 2.0) provided by my ISP, Time Warner Cable.
My New comcast cable modem will connect to the internet, as i am connected to it by ethernet right now, but my netgear router will not recognize it and get a link to the internet to get my existing LAN back up.
