I have d-link wireless router which is connected to the internet, also I have Linksys (WAG160Nv2) which i want to use it as access point by link it to D-link router using ethernet cable in order to use the wireless internet. D-link router settings shown below
I changed the settings of linksys router as shown below
the other day i set up a new internet connection and to set it up they sent me a WAG160Nv2 modem router and after hours of trying to get it working the technical support guy told me it cant be set up until the dsl led comes on, so what it being off means/how to get it to turn on?
The only thing I notice now is that channels 12 and 13 do not work properly. Setting the router to channels 12 and 13 basically sets the channel to something in the 1 - 11 range as seen by inSSIDer. This could be because the firmware I installed is the US version, which only has channels 1 - 11, but the EU version has channels 1 - 13. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but because there are a lot of wireless signals where I live, channels 1 - 11 are quite congested, so channel 13 was quite useful to me.I don't suppose anyone has a EU version of the WAG160NV2 2.00.17 firmware do they?Channels 12 and 13 worked fine with the EU version of the WAG160NV2 2.00.20 firmware but of course only at 2Mbps.
Signal drops constantly and seems to be a problem with the Mac more than the router IMHO but i thought to register the problem here.
I'm not alone as many users on the Apple support forum are experiencing the same drops via airport and with different routers.. Lan line works fine for me with no issues
I will update the firmware and try that as it seems i am running old firmware V2.00.13
my WAG160Nv2 drops the connection each day at the same hour (4:20pm to 4:40pm aprox.)I think that is because my ISP don't give me a static IP address and the connection must dropped once a day. in my old router I could put the time for the drop. I don't find something similar in the WAG160Nv2.
I have a WAG160Nv2 and I want to block specific external ip addresses from trying to get at our server that uses the WAG160Nv2 as an internet gateway. It's not immediately obvious if this can be done from looking through the config pages.
My ISP recently upgraded my line to ADSL2+. I am still only getting 1.36Mbps download speed across WiFi but if I connect my laptop to the router with ethernet cable I get 8.59Mbps. Why is the router slowing down my connection so much?
Is there anyway you can assign a static IP address within WAG160Nv2 to peripherals such as an XBOX?
The knowledge base only seems to show how to assign an IP address in the XBOX but when I have to reboot the router, I've noticed the XBOX is assigned a new IP address when viewed in the router pages.
If I set a permanent IP address in the XBOX, this will no longer match what is in the router.
Here's the problem : I've installed this router to a friends of mine home and since then in the gam "Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War 2 : Retribution" they can't play together (they're connected via WAN) in a 2v2 without getting disconnected FROM THE INTERNET (not only the game, the whole ADSL line collapse after an over 3000ms of ping for few sec.). Same thing if one of them try to make a 3v3 (so 1 with the WAG160Nv2, and 2 other persons via internet.), 3000pings for few sec and then they get DC from the internet, after few sec the router gets back online but still they can't play together or make a 3v3.
We have a SBS 2003 server with two NIC's, one for the internal LAN and the other connecting to the WAG160Nv2 that is hooked up to the internet. The internal LAN clients are all getting IP addresses from the DHCP server in the SBS Server (192.168.16.XXX). The DHCP server is sat at 192.168.16.2.The only thing connected to the LAN ports on the WAG160Nv2 is the Internet facing NIC from the server. What I want to do is to get the WAG160Nv2 to give IP addresses to Wireless connections going through the router, can I configure the DHCP relay option on the WAG160Nv2 to do this, I have looked at the DHCP relay option but it doesn't seem to work, my wireless connections are getting private 169.254.xxx.xxx addresses. Also is there anything I can do to make the wireless more Apple friendly, iPhones and iPads drop of the wireless frequently, that's why I trying a different approach.
( Home Cisco router WAG160Nv2, Windows Vista)Who is the network administrator on my home network and which device is involved: Windows Vista, Cisco network magic pro ? ; the Cisco router modem with WLAN ?The wireless MAC filter on the modem is disabled. The access is denied to my WLAN and the only one from which I get signals from the neighborhood. My main laptop has access to the network only over the Ethernet, but not over WLAN.My second laptop has access to this network over the Ethernet and WLAN .
Since i used this new modem ruoter, on facebook game Cafe WORLD i can't send requests or gifts to neighbors/friends. when the window pops out there's no friend list. it's just a blank space. also when i click the share button only a blank page pops out. i tried it in 3 different pc here @ home in different browser but still had no luck...i tried it on my bf's place and it works so i guess there's a prob with my connection. and sometimes i have the internet access but i couldn't navigate in any website only for chatting.
i have my Cisco E4200 set up with a 6rd tunnel. the tunnel seems to work fine for the most part. i can ping ipv6.google.com and get a response.however, i cannot ping the addresses of the IPv6 Tunnel ends from within my network. If i run a ping from outside the network, i can ping the IPv6 address of the server end, however, i cannot ping the E4200's end of the tunnel. is there a specific option that needs to be set? i have allowed ping so that my IPv4 address is pingable, am i missing something for IPv6?
My ISP recently started offering dual stack IPv6. After changing IPv6 from manual tunnel to automatic, none of my devices get an IPv6 address from the ISP. In the troubleshooting page, IPv6 address is also empty. I tried resetting the router but had no difference. We have another router (ASUS RT-53N) and it works fine. The ISP is using PPPoE for IPv4. In RT-53N I choose "IPv6 with DHCP-PD" and Interface "PPP". There're no such options in EA2700 though.
IPV4 IP addresses will be running out in less than a year and I wanted to know, will there be a firmware update for WRT120N to support IPV6?
Also, if I have to buy another router to support IPV6, I'm going to buy a D-Link. It's nothing personal, I just find it absolutely idiotic that a router that supports wireless-N doesn't support IPV6. You have to ask your self, how does the standard IPV6 spec thats a few years old not make it to the final product of a router, but a non-standard wireless-N spec implementation somehow got the O.K....?

I have my router updated with the latest firmware and I'm pretty sure all the settings are correct but I'm only getting a max transfer rate of 144Mbps. I know this because I use InSSIDer 3 to analyse my wifi network etc. I stream movies over my network and while DVD quality movies play fine, HD movies tend to freeze and buffer a lot. I have the router's channel width set to 40Mhz, so I know that's not the problem. Strangely, I also use a Netgear wifi extender with the MR3420 and it's max rate is 300Mbps.
Our family has about three computers that use a wireless network that we all share. We have an old Gateway, a WCG200, that is bridged to an E2000, which was set-up ever since we required better security when someone used our connection to illegally obtain movies. We got a letter which warned us of any future violations that could cause legal action, so we looked into our wireless connection to better secure it from any other individuals outside of our household. The WCG200 is connected to the outlet in the wall via cable, and then connects from the Ethernet to the E2000. The E2000 has a stronger security setup than the WCG200, which is the advice we received from our ISP and would allow us to keep the Gateway. It provides a strong signal, but from time to time, we suffer latency or slow loading through all of our online devices, even though our connection speed displays a solid 72.0 Mbps. I've tried the Event Viewer to see any problems, and I have noticed some small things:
- WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.Wirel?
- WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:WindowsSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
- The server {E10F6C3A-F1AE-4ADC-AA9D-2FE65525666E} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
- Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet: The network link is down. Check to make sure the network cable is properly connected. [This last one is strange, since I use the Wireless Network Connection with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, while the Broadcom adapter is under the Local Area Connection and displayed as not connected.]
Other than that, I'm not quite sure what the recurring problem comes from. Our WCG200 has a firewall enabled and our E2000 has an SPI firewall enabled. The security mode of the E2000 is a WPA2 setup. We have disabled the wireless network of our WCG200 in order to make use of the E2000.
What are the IPv6 anycast addresses using for?, are they some kind of broadcast? I have a router 2811 I'm configuring ipv6, do I need to use these addresses?
Set up my WAG54G2 wireless gateway - I am able to connect to my LAN and the internet. The wireless works fine. However when I plug my server that use a wired connection into the modem/router,I lost the connection and I still unable to have internet at All. I use the firemware version V1.00.19.
I hard reset the router WAG160N and i can't access it on 192.168.1.1, i can connect to the wireless connection but it shows unindentified network, in properties gateway IP is absent. i also get 169.254.1.38 as IPv4.What could have happened to the modem, I can't use it at all at the moment?
i just came to know Assurance feature license doesn't come for free when upgrading from LMS4.2 or NCS1.1. It has to be purchased. Before buying this license, i would like to know if IPv6 netflow is supported.
I need to implement IPv6 for ASA VPN. According to the ASA_8.4_cli_cfg.pdf , IPv6 is not supported on ASA IPSEC vpn and remote client vpn. I do not have a ASA 8.4, any way to verify on ASA8.4 whether the crypto command support ipv6 address ? If the crypto command do support ipv6 address then probably there is chance it will work.what i mean is eg. crypto map xxx set peer <ipv6 address| ipv4 addres> able to set ipv6 address.
