What we need to do here is protect network access at our hotspots by enforcing a password to get connected. The other part is making it compatible with every possible device so we need to have encryption off. We have a mixed environment at this time until everything is upgraded. I would like the user accounts to have different expiry periods if this is possible. My current config is attached. The SSID "test" appears on the network. The SSID "test111" does not appear.

May 15, 2012We had two dozen Aironet 1200 access points and a controller donated to us from a local hospital that no longer needed them. My boss would like me to set one up with 3 VLANs:
- encrypted VLAN for staff
- encrypted VLAN for students
- unencrypted VLAN for guests
Ultimately, we'd like the staff VLAN to have access to all internal network resources, the student VLAN to have access to several pre-defined printers, and the guest VLAN is web-only access. Whether the controller we were given will accommodate that, we won't know until we get one Aironet 1200 programmed and connected to the controller. For the time being, I just want to get this access point programmed with the 3 VLANs.
I'm easily able to get it running a single SSID (non-VLAN) network and confirm that I can use that network fine. However, I need to set up these 3 VLANs. I can connect to it via telnet if that'll let me program it faster.

Mar 26, 2012I have some aironet 1200 AP's. I want to use this with a windows 2008 radius server. I followed the guide on [URL]. Unfortunately I can not get this working. In the securtiy log of the event viewer there is always the message "authenication was not succesful because an unknown username or incorrect password".
- Is it possible to get this working?
- If yes, is there a manual how to configure the AP's and the radius server, or are there any hints?
- Is this the best way to setup a wireless network or is there a better way?
I saw there is also a local radius server inside the 1200. Can all the 1200's work together? I suppose that if I use the built-in radius server than I can't make a connection to my AD database, correct?

Nov 20, 2012I have this version Ap "c1200-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2" and a WLC 5500. When i connect the ap to the network i can ping from ap to wlc and the wlc to ap, but the proccess of lwapp messages give errors on the Ap when the Ap try to download the image from wlc and could not join the wlc. why this could be? this is the info of the wireless lan controller.

I previously had a completely open network that I would allow them to use, until someone illegally downloaded a movie and got us in trouble. Apr 7, 2011I live in rural Alaska and use satellite internet with 1.5mbps rate and 4gb rolling weekly download limit. I was wondering if there are any wireless routers I can buy that I can set a bandwidth limit for the specific router. Due to teenage girls in the house we hit the weekly limit in a day or two because of all the music videos and such that they watch on you tube, it is annoying getting limited to the 256kbps download rate so often.

My goal is to limit incoming bandwith for two specific vlans. So users who are plugged into the switch or connected to the wifi can't go bandwidth crazy.
The rule I currently have setup on the ASA5510 is limiting internal bandwidth, I know shame on me.
So how do I setup a rule on the ASA5510 that will limit users external traffic on vlans without limit internal lan traffic?

This link will be separated to 3 VLANs for 3 internal networks. I'm wondering if there is a way to gurantee 10Mbps for each VLAN but allow use up to 30Mbps when another two VLANs are not using any Internet bandwidth? I only worry about download bandwidth from internet.The 3 internal networks will all have public IPs and they belong to their own subnets. There won't be NAT/PAT.

After logging into the router there are no QoS options yet according to ZyXEL's website url...This router should have the settings available. Is it possible that Telus does something to remove this feature? Is there some not so obvious way to enable QoS? Is there some other way to limit the bandwidth?

They also use our FiOS connection and I have came to the conclusion that my cousin's laptop is eating away all of the bandwidth which makes all devices using FiOS have extremely slow internet speeds. I know it is his computer because I logged in as admin to the Verizon FiOS page (192.168.1.1) and I saw that he is using several P2P applications and downloading torrents as well. Is there a way I can limit the bandwidth he is using so that the internet speed can improve? I looked at the QoS tab and tried to play around with the settings, but I don't want to mess it up. The router I have is Actiontec M1424-WR (Verizon FiOS 20 Down/5 Up). A lot of sources I am reading says that I have to use the QoS, but I don't know how to use it on the site.

When it goes down hard all three lights are still green as if the AP is still up. We verified the IOS with other stores and everything is the same on the configurations, versions, and IOS.

Jun 9, 2012I got my final assignment from school, and my teacher asked me to configure 2 Access Points (1200 series) directly on a Wireless Controler (Cisco 2106). I can't ask my teacher for any questions, cause he doesn't know how to configure it also, THAT's why he's asking me to do it.I've learned a lot of things about the default static interfaces (the "management" and "ap_manager" interface), but i can't seem to fully understand how to configure it.I want to use the Internal DHCP server of the WLC. How I can get those 2 Access Points working on the WLC. I only seem to get DHCP issues.
This is what i've done:
- Leave the configuration of the "management" and the "ap_manager" default (172.16.1.30 and 172.16.1.30). Bound to port 1
- Made a new interface "AP1" with IP-Address 10.0.0.10 (/24), default gateway 10.0.0.1. Primary DHCP server: 172.167.1.30
- Made a new interface "AP2" with IP-Address 192.168.1.10 (/24), default gateway 192.168.1.1. Primary DHCP server: 172.167.1.30
- Made 2 DHCP scopes within the 192.168.1.0 and 10.0.0.0 networks.
For some reason, when i boot up both AP's, the won't get any DHCP address.
