I am trying to get my wife's mac book to print wireless to my hp desk jet 3050a 611g printer. The print report advises that the Mac hardware address of the printer must be added to the list of permitted devices for my wireless routed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI use a DLink DIR-655 router but it only allows around 24 MAC addresses to be specified in the filter list of ALLOWED MAC ADDRs. With a few laptops in the family, a game box, NAS, printer, e-readers, smart phones, I'm maxed out. Alternatively, could I daisy chain them to have one handle wireless devices only and another handle wired devices? If so, I could probably dealt with 24 max wireless MAC addresses specified for a while. If there's a better router out there that's not so limited, I'll upgrade.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwe were happily getting along with our RCN cable Motorola modem and DLink wireless 655 until the last couple of weeks. The internet would intermittently not be available, without warning. First couple of times we power cycled the modem and router, and it worked, but then stopped being available altogether. I got some support from RCN, the cable provider (they own the modem and it's old, so naturally that was my first thought). I now have a new modem and the situation is exactly the same. The error message that I get is that the IP address for the network cannot be found.
I got internet access by bypassing the router, connecting the modem directly to my (Windows XP) PC, releasing and renewing the IP address, and power cycling the modem. However, the internet still intermittently shuts down, and of course turning off the computer necessitates the whole procedure again. And now we have no wireless. Should we assume it's the router, and a new one would solve our problem? Of do we just need to reset the IP address of the router?
i have internet connection which is connect using dynamic ip address but if i add ip address in Local Area Connection i get two networks, one is internet dynamic ip & other one is ip which i setup in Local area connection. so if i select LAN network for lan clients i can access lan. but now i have DLINK DIR 615 router so what should be my settings?

I press the stupid little button on the back of it, the lights go out, one amber one comes on etc. etc. but when I go to 192.168.0.1, everything is still the same!!
Like the passwords are still there and nothing has changed! I thought resetting it was supposed to wipe all that stuff out so you could start from scratch? Also pulled the power cord in and out a zillion times but no way it will reset!
As an aside, I am having no end of problems getting my iPads (2) and iPhones (2) to connect to the wireless network! The "Network Discovery" button will not stay checked and though I have done all the Googling and been into Services to start things running, no way it is going to work!
But I digress, how do I get this fool of a router to reset properly?

After installing hotspot Shield on my desktop, I can no longer connect to my router from my laptop, which I did not even install Hotspot shield in. when trying to connect, nothing happens. the wireless icon on the taskbar does not show that its trying to connect.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a Dlink DWR 131 today. I did configure it as per the instructions. Initially my iPhone was able to detect the wireless network. Then I switched off the device and turned it on later and it stopped working. It is not damaged for sure, since http://192.168.0.1/ is still accessible from my laptop and I am able to connect to internet through LAN cable. But the wireless network is not working. Even my laptop doesn't detect the network neither does my iPhone. I suspect this to be some configuration issue. I have tried using different SSIDs. Also, MAC filter is disabled. I also tried using different wireless channels. I even did reset the router but no luck.

But even without it I get disconnected several times per day.I need to be able to stay online and for some certain programs to run, if they get disconnected I will have to reconnect manually and I can't do this if I am not near my computer.I think the problem is specific to my laptop. Most of the time I stay online ok, except for the lapses I've mentioned. I asked someone else in our house if they have been getting disconnected and they say they haven't. I am not able to connect via wireless to the router from a PC with Windows Vista. It works fine when I use a cable. Then I am able to connect to Internet via the router. Also, I am able to print on a wireless printer. It is also possible to use Internet from an Ipad with wifi.
The Belkin router had a different network, 192.168.2....When the cable is connected I can ping 192.168.0.1 but not when I remove the cable. In Windows Vista the connection has status "connected". This is an ongoing problem and I am wondering if a firmware update is called for. We have had the router for some time and to the best of my knowledge nothing has been done to fix the problem except the old "unplug for 10 seconds" routine.There are now four users on the home network with multiple devices.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi ahve a dlink dir 615 B2 router and it wont connect to the internet. on day it was fine and working, the next day the internet led wouldn't change from the red light to the green light.i have tried resetting it about 60 times, while the laptop was on/off, while it was plugged it, while it was without power, while the internet cable was in, while it wasn't, while it was shut down and i reset it and the i pluged it in while resetting it...i dont know what else to do!! short of smashing the bejesus out of it. The internet works fine when i connect the cable directly to the laptop, I don;t have a cable modem or anything, just a plain old cable from the street to my house.

When I go into my router and check Wireless Status to see connected devices the window is empty. Usually if I reboot my router some of my devices will connect but if I leave them idle for any amount of time the connection is dropped. Suggestions. I have already logged into the dlink admin and changed the RTS Threshold to 2304. After that, it worked for a couple of days, and now its back to disconnecting again. What can be wrong? NOTE: I have already checked for the firmware update, and it appears to be up to date.
