DLink WBR-2310 Router Don't See Modem But Switch Does
May 24, 2012We setup a home network in our new house but we have a problem with limited connectivity in specific configuration.
There is few situations to describe the problem :
1. If I connect my computer directly to the modem I can access to the internet. (modem --> computer = internet OK)
2. If i connect the ethernet cable (in the wall) between my modem and RJ45 jack in the living room and connect my computer directly to the RJ45 I can access to the internet. (modem --> cat6 cable in the wall --> computer = internet ok)
3. If I connect my router directly (without the cat6 cable in the wall) to the modem and my computer to the the router I can access to the internet. (modem --> router --> computer = internet ok)
4. If i connect the ethernet cable (in the wall) between my modem and RJ45 jack in the living room and connect to router to the RJ45 and my computer to the router I CANNOT access to the internet. (modem --> cat6 cable in the wall --> router --> computer = internet access problem)
5. If i connect the ethernet cable (in the wall) between my modem and RJ45 jack in the living room and connect to a swith to the RJ45 and my computer to the switch I can access to the internet. (modem --> cat6 cable in the wall --> switch --> computer = internet OK)
With those tests I am not able to figured out what is the problem... router is working in situation #3. cable in the wall is ok in situations #2 and 5. How to make my router working when connected to the RJ45 jack in the living room.
There is my component :
Router --> D-Link WBR-2310
Switch --> Trendnet TE100-S5
Modem --> Thomson DCM475
Cable in the wall --> Homemade with 568A standard in both end.

Jul 28, 2012For reasons that are slowly pushing me over the edge of insanity, I have to reset this dumb router!!
I press the stupid little button on the back of it, the lights go out, one amber one comes on etc. etc. but when I go to 192.168.0.1, everything is still the same!!
Like the passwords are still there and nothing has changed! I thought resetting it was supposed to wipe all that stuff out so you could start from scratch? Also pulled the power cord in and out a zillion times but no way it will reset!
As an aside, I am having no end of problems getting my iPads (2) and iPhones (2) to connect to the wireless network! The "Network Discovery" button will not stay checked and though I have done all the Googling and been into Services to start things running, no way it is going to work!
But I digress, how do I get this fool of a router to reset properly?

After installing hotspot Shield on my desktop, I can no longer connect to my router from my laptop, which I did not even install Hotspot shield in. when trying to connect, nothing happens. the wireless icon on the taskbar does not show that its trying to connect.

Oct 22, 2011I have purchased a Dlink DWR 131 today. I did configure it as per the instructions. Initially my iPhone was able to detect the wireless network. Then I switched off the device and turned it on later and it stopped working. It is not damaged for sure, since http://192.168.0.1/ is still accessible from my laptop and I am able to connect to internet through LAN cable. But the wireless network is not working. Even my laptop doesn't detect the network neither does my iPhone. I suspect this to be some configuration issue. I have tried using different SSIDs. Also, MAC filter is disabled. I am not able to connect via wireless to the router from a PC with Windows Vista. It works fine when I use a cable. Then I am able to connect to Internet via the router. Also, I am able to print on a wireless printer. It is also possible to use Internet from an Ipad with wifi.
The Belkin router had a different network, 192.168.2....When the cable is connected I can ping 192.168.0.1 but not when I remove the cable. In Windows Vista the connection has status "connected". When the cable is connected, the ipconfig /all is printed as below. It is a Swedish version. Some translated words:

We have had the router for some time and to the best of my knowledge nothing has been done to fix the problem except the old "unplug for 10 seconds" routine.There are now four users on the home network with multiple devices.
