How To Make Oneself Invisible To Ping Requests
May 24, 2011My friend is invisible to ping requests. I know he is online because he is on my Gtalk friend's list. This is because he is using Windows 7. Earlier, when he was on Win XP, he responded to ping requests. He said that he didn't mess with the firewall settings. Therefore this feature comes default with 7.I'm using XP and I don't want to change to 7 right now. Can I get this feature?

The SSID is not broadcast, however my clients see "Other Network" in their list of available networks. Short of turning off the AP is there any way through the 1140's configuration to prevent this "Other Network" from showing up in the clients available networks list.

Jan 13, 2011My wireless became invisible to my laptop for no obvious reason while I was working on it. I thought that router has broken but it seems to work fine for other laptop in the same room and for my blackberry.My laptop can see other networks in area but not mine.The problem is that we share wireless with this office and router itself is not accessible to me. They don't want to unplug it and the plug it again or reset because of the risk for office. Doesn't seem to be my laptop's fault.I have tried a number ip adressess to access router remotely but none of them work. Is there a program I could download to access it remotely? Also, I have no idea what kind of router it is. It says BT Fusion in its name.

I have to block my kids access at times, and when I do this they simply change their IP address and they circumvent the blocking.Other than punishing the kids (which hasn't worked - and they need computers and Internet for homework), is there anyway to lock a computer to MAC address to IP address so if they change it they won't get network/internet access?I also tried to set up network filtering and I put in all the PCs and devices I wanted to provide access for, including the router, but when I save changes I can no longer access the internet or the router. I have to do factory reset to get back into router config.Also, I'm on 1.30WW. I know 1.34 exists, which I tried on a previous router which died and was replaced by RMA; but this didn't solve any problems.

Jan 26, 20112Wire 2700HG-E-Gateway is my main modem supplied by my ISP)from there it branches off to two seperate areas.Section One consists of 2 wireless connect laptops, both Vista, and one hardwired desktop, XP. All of these can see eachother and share files, printers and run just peachy.Section Two is hardwired straight from the 2Wire 2700HG-E-Gateway over to a Linksys router, WRT54G. From this router i have a destktop computer, XP, a xbox 360, and a ps3 all hardwired into it. All 3 of these devices can find and interact with eachother. They all connect and run internet fine also.Now my question is, how can i make my section 2 units be discoverable by section one and vise versa? I have fiddled with settings in my linksys settings but i just cant get it to work. Currently the linksys is set to gateway instead of router, i thought it would be an easy fix and change it to router but when i do that i lose internet on all section 2 devices. Now i have a basic understanding of networking but when it starts getting into changing numbers and ips and subnet and that stuff i get lost.

When I click on the taskbar icon, nothing, click again, nothing. That said, when I know it should be visible on the screen in the foreground, I can press enter and get the default connection to connect! I can see status, log window, About, but no main window. It's there, but perfectly transparent or something. There is no other monitor or shadow monitor it could be hiding on, nor is it shoved off to a periphery of the display somewhere. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version. I'm not aware of any display related updates to my machine.

Apr 25, 2011I have been having problems when trying to host servers on games, etc.I have 2 routers. A modem router, which is a Thomson router. That is the main one. It has a wire connecting from it, to a D-Link router that is near my Computer, and my brother's one. Then that D-Link router has 2 wires from each port, to mine, and my brother's computer.So, I am trying to host games.I didn't connect to the Thomson one, which is also wireless. I am connected to the wired one (D-Link). When I try to host while connected to it, my brother, and other people can't find the server. My brother and me can find it on LAN, but not Internet.But when I disconnect from the Wired, and connect to the Thomson wireless one, and then when I host, I can find it on INTERNET. Even my brother can. He can connect to it perfectly.
I do not want to connect to the wireless, because then it will cause lag spikes every 5 minutes.So, when I disconnect from the wireless, and connect to the wire, I went into the CMD, and typed in ipconfig. I found out that the Default Gteway is the D-Link IP.When I connect to the wireless, and disconnect the wired, I went into CMD, and then the Default Gateway is the Thomson one, which is the main router.So what I want to do, is use the D-Link router, and that router will have the same IP as my thomson one, so that I can host perfectly with no lag spikes, and using a wired connection.

Jun 1, 2012We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.

I am trying to figure out how to make the modem plug into the switch instead of the router. I'm guessing my problem lies with the default gateway since that is the router. Any suggestions on this? Or how is the best way to set this up? I have 2 NICs on my server and the server has windows 2008 r2.
