View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
I have TP Link Wireless Router i attached TP Link access with it. The problem is am unable to see the attached Access Point in the Router, so that i could see the other users who are connected with that AP. Internet through that access point is available for all the users.
View 3 Replies View Related1) I have an appliance that I need connected to the internet however it only accepts an ethernet cable(cat5 is the name I think). However, my modem and wireless router is another room, and I do not want to extend a cable from one room to another. I was wondering if I can do this:
Get a Wireless Access Point(not a router). I noticed that there are ethernet ports behind the WAP. Can I configure the WAP so that it receives internet connection from my original router, and then when the WAP has internet connection, can I just plug a ethernet cable from the WAP to any appliance that I want to go online with.I will try to make it easier:
Modem---(WIRED CONNNECTION)---Router...........(Wireless Connection)......WAP----(Wired Connection)----APPLIANCE
I read somewhere that you can only connect to the WAP wirelessly, and not through ethernet. And if I can, is it easy to set up for a noobie like me?
2) If this sort of configuration is possible, can the router and WAP be different brands? For example, can my router be Linksys and my Wireless Access Point be D Link?
I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with Model Number WRT54G2 V1 and I want to use this as a wireless access point, but I want all other features disabled. I don't want it assigning IPs and interfering with our other router or even want to use the ethernet. Basically, I want it to work as an airport and just that. I was wondering if there is any way to set it up like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem setting up an Access Point. Here is my configuration. I have a Comcast Cable Modem that plugs in to a 24 port Netgear Switch. From the switch it plugs into a Linksys N wireless router with an IP of 10.1.10.76. I don't know the linksys model. But it is fairly new. I also have a Netgear WN604 N Access Point that plugs in to the same switch in another location away from the wireless router about 75+ft.
I configured the access point's IP to be 10.1.10.130 with DHCP off and DNS as 10.1.10.1. The cable modems default Gateway is 10.1.10.1 and it handles the dhcp which is provided to the switch were both the wireless router and access point get there IP's. I can't set it up so that the cable modem plugs in to the wireless router first then the switch because of a security system that is setup to the Comcast Cable Modem.
My Goal is to the the same identical SSID and Password for both the Linksys and Access point. I don't think I can set it up as a repeater because it's to far away from the linksys router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a network with the following setup: D-Link DSL-2500U for ADSL, connected straight into a Telkom DG834GUv5 (locally rebadged Netgear) which has 2 PCs connected via cable, and 2 laptops via Wireless. A cable runs from the Telkom into a standard IPLink switch, which merely extends a cable into a D-Link DIR-615 running DD-WRT that has 2 computers connected, and shares wireless to a couple laptops.
At the moment the network is somewhat unstable, and recently the Telkom router has been giving serious problems, even after resetting to default. I want to try make the network a bit simpler and more stable. Firstly, I want to remove the IPLink switch, which merely extends the cable. Is an Ethernet Coupler what I need? Both cables are definitely under 100m combined (probably under 50m).
Now the big thing is a replacement for the Telkom (rebadged NetGear). Should I get another D-Link DIR-615 or is there a better solution? Their budget is between $40 and $60 US. Is it best to stick to the same brand, considering both devices are D-Link at present?
