i live in a dorm and i want to stream movies to my nexus 7 but i dont want to buy a nas. can i connect my external to a router [URL] and use that to stream movies. i dont need to be able to connect to it all over campus (i know that involves hacking the proxy) but mainly in my room would be nice.
I am using Solawinds syslog and trying to get our Cisco routers send syslogs to our syslog server. I followed the procedure on Configuring Cisco Devices to Use a Syslog Server from [URL] Our Cisco swtches are all sending syslog messages but not the routers. I compared the config with our access switches but can't seem to find the problem:
I want to learn how to make application server?I have Windows server 2008 enterprise edition and it is connected to 10 Client Machines. I want to install software programes only on server and use them on client machines without knowing server password.
I have to make a live chat (web based using ASP.NET) , like a customer service chat when the client click to start chat , the server will repsond with checking any operators that is available to chat with the client.the operator must be login to the site as active operator .how can i make the server to check the available operator ? is there a syntax or codes that can be applied in this condition?
My problem is that i want to make an srcds server to css (counter strike source) but i cant get it online beacuse i need to port forward i got a Thomson router (or what it's called) now to the problem when i write my ip and logs in i can acces some features and some i can't acces.
I have a question thats been bugging me and that internet searches didnt quite explain and that is how do I make a resource available publicly e.g. web serverAll I hear so far is register a domain name but that doesnt quite answer the full question. Id like to know exactly what happens when a user types in the url of my web site and how their traffic gets to me. Is it.. get a static ip from my isp then provide this to the domain name registrar and that it now every one can access my site?? Seems to simple.
I have an old computer that is currently running XP at 2.1GHz Athlon AMD with 1.5 DDR RAM, would I be able to turn it into a dedicated server? More importantly, should I? all I have is a small home network running a couple desktops and a printer off one and connected by a wireless router to the internet, would it make a difference at all in processing speed or connectivity on any of them?
I have a ASA5505 in a branch connected to the head office via L2L-VPN. The clients at the inside of the ASA can use the DNS servers in the head office through the VPN tunnel. The ASA is configured to use these DNS servers, too.
The VPN ist connecting the networks behind interfaces inside and ADM to the network at the head office.
When the ASA is resolving a hostname it tires to use these servers. But it does via outside interface.

I have an DLINK-dir 815 router.. I have tried for 10 hours to get broadcast IP to work, no luck.. All html/javascript modifications = no luck..The WOL works on LAN, but not over internet, so I figure it's the broadcast IP that needs to be virtual servered?
I'm running Ubuntu Server in VirtualBox. When I select the internal network option for the network adapter and start up the VM, I only get IPv6 address. I need an IPv4 address as well. My host (running Windows 7) gets has both an IPv4 and IPv6 address listed when I run ipconfig. When I run ifconfig on the guest (running Ubuntu Server), it only lists IPv6.
Customer has a WLC 4402 and 21 AP's LAP1131AG, there is a PDA wlan created to give PDA's and wireless Phones access to the webmail. This is done by access lists and firewalls. Now the customer wants more access to the internet in this PDA wlan, maybe in a later phase to the other vlans, can we use an ISE server and make profiles, is this the only additional server that we need or is an upgrade of the WLC and ÄP's also needed.
I have a computer named server and it ip is 192.168.0.5 and a live ip xxxxxxxx which is a private ip. on this system my oracle middle wear is running.I just want that people may access my application which is running on 'server' through public ip. Is it possible. If it is. then how.=]
i now learning about SSLVPN, and i already install license in 1941 with SSL and security9 License, i learning how to make a gateway for SSLVPN full tunnel, but i meet an obstacles, when i go to my wan ip address https://wan ip address, the browser give this
SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.
I currently have DCHP server set up on my new 1141N. Everything works great, but I wanted to know if it were possible to make the DHCP server only hand out ip addresses on the wireless connection? Currently the AP is giving out ip addresses from the pool to wired and wireless pc's.
I have problem with syncing Nexus and NTP server. MGMT IP adress of Nexus is 10.24.130.137 and address of NTP server is 10.242.32.12, there is full routing and NTP readability between Nexus and NTP but Nexus is UN synced:
N5k-04-A# sh ntp peer-status Total peers : 1 * - selected for sync, + - peer mode(active), - - peer mode(passive), = - polled in client mode remote local st poll reach delay ------------------------------------------------------------------------ =10.242.32.12 10.24.130.137 2 16 377 0.00310
Config of NTP is:
N5k-04-A# sh run ntp !Command: show running-config ntp!Time: Wed Apr 10 14:41:35 2013 version 6.0(2)N1(2)ntp server 10.242.32.12 use- vrf management ntp source-interface mgmt0ntp logging.
I captured traffic with wire shark and see something strange in NTP Packet: "Reference ID: Un identified reference source '...'"
I have one Catalyst 2960 on same sub net and it's synchronized with same NTP without any problems. Here is snapshot of wire shark capture:
P.S. Don't bother about malformed packet, it's probably because of using ERSPAN.
I see there is a similar post for Nexus 5000 to ACS 5.2. Identical symptoms. The supervisor crashed and switched to secondary. We are in the plan of implementing a new 10gig network. For this we have chosen the Nexus 5596 and 2232 pair. What are the transceivers/accesories I should order for connecting 10Gig servers of NC552SFP dual port NICs to the 2232 in High availability (NIC 1 to 2232PP 1 and NIC 2 to 2232PP 2). Should I order the FEX SFP+ uplink conector to conect 5k and 2232 also (or its aded to the Nexus box itself) ? Also, is it fine to have Nexus 2232 in floor 2 and Parent neus in Floor 3 (say seperatd by a max of 400meters)?
I can authenticate between our MDS 9216i switch and RSA radius server but my role does not come across. The logged in user is a network-operator not admin. In the AV Pair i have defined shell:role*network-admin but it doesnt seem to come across
We are planning to have attach topology with nexus 5548 using vpc. Let me know if this i possible. I want to configure dual NIC linux server using LACP active mode to connect to two 5548 in VPC for redudancy as well as use of full access layer bandwidth. On nexus this will be access port in single port channel in single VPC link.
We've gotten two Nexus 7009's in and I'm starting to configure them when I found I couldn't add VDCs. I found there was no license installed but the only licenses I found that came with them are "Cisco DCNM for LAN Enterprise Lic for one Nexus 7000 Chassis". So my question is this - do I need to configure a DCNM server to get the license pushed to these two 7009s or should there be another PAK for each chassis that I can register and get my enterprise services?
We have 2 nexus 7010 switches configured with HSRP in the network. For all the vlans core1 is Master and Core2 is standby. In the current setup we have external dhcp server and dhcp relay is configured for all the vlans on Master and standby switch. The setup is running the IOS 5.2
Activity Done: During the Maintainacne activity, we isolated core1 switch in the network by disabling the vpc/keepalive and all the uplinks from access switch. The core2 switch was master for all the vlans.
Issue observed: It has been observed that new users were not getting ip address from the dhcp server. The ethereal capture showed that dhcp server was not getting the dhcp requests from the core2 switch. We disabled the dhcp feature in core2 and enabled again with dhcp relay again configured on vlan interfaces .even after doing this no change was observed in behaviour. Finally we got core1 back in network by enabling all the links.
Observation: The moment VPC link came up between the core switches, users started getting ip's from dhcp. Then we started enabling all the uplinks on core1.Core1 again become master for all the vlans and users continued getting ip’s. Network running fine.
Further Testing
1. For one of the vlan, core 2 switch has been made primary and for new users checked the dhcp functionality and it was working fine. The aim was to identify if anything wrong on core 2 related to dhcp relay
2.Again we changed the priority for this vlan and made core1 master for the same. This time we disabled this vlan on core1 and tried new user with core 2 became master and dhcp functionality worked fine for new user. Actually in this case we have simulated the same behaviour when we observed the issue with only difference of VPC was not available during the issue time as core 1 was isolated form network Inputs needed.
Is there any known behaviour for dhcp functionality when VPC is unavailable? If we see the test scenario2 (wherein core1 was master for the vlan and we disable this vlan on core 1 and core 2 was able to relay dhcp requests for new users in this vlan.) it was actually same as scenario we observed during issue time..
Need clarification on the VPC with 5k and 2248 Fabric Extenders. My question is can each fabric extender uplink to two different 5ks, and at the same time, have servers connected to two both fabric extenders with a VPC.So basically, the server NIC will team with two different fabric extenders, and each fabric extender will connect to two different 5k's.
I am in the process of migrating our existing server farm subnets to our new Nexus server farm and I discovered something I wasn’t expecting. My intention is to migrate our existing legacy server farm which is comprised of for paired 3750 switches off of our core 6509s and onto the Nexus and connect them to the 2232s via multi gig port-channel connections, two port channels per switch stack.
NOTE this is expected to be a temporary move as next year we intend to install additional N2Ks and move servers over to these directly. But to minimize the outage/downtime it will be better to move the subnets and switchs all at once.
These connections would be grouped 1 gig connections as port channels, one from each switch into one of the two 2232s.
Problem I discovered is Cisco does not intend to have switches connected to the Nexus and it immediately disables the ports when they see BPDUs.
I found a config that does work and it does fail over from one port-channel connection to the other but with the limitation that when the original port channel comes back online it does not fail back over to the original one, an acceptable situation for us. But I am wondering if Cisco would support this design if we did experience issues down the road.
The only issue I really see is to get it to work the config is different on the two N5Ks, see the pert config below for the connections. Both are running the same OS

We are facing issue of continous packet discards On nexus4001L link (int po2) to Nexus5020 switch. Nexus4001L is installed in IBM blade center server and we have FCOE enabled in this setup. [code]
I have been tasked to replace the existing Cat 6500 and 3750 switches by Nexus 7000 and Nexus 2000.I was told initially my boss plans to get 2 x Nexus 7000 and then eventually blow up to 4 x Nexus 7000s.For Nexus, is there a list of tasks / points that i need to consider for building the initial design?
Can i just link the Nexus 7000 like the following?
N7k-A ========= N7k-B | | lots of N2ks lots of N2ks
we are planning a Nexus datacenter project with this layout:Our experiences with Nexus switches are not so large until now and the manuals are very extensive. Both N5K´s should be connected directly with all 4 N2K switches. I did not find a layout like this in the manuals. Only a design, where only 2 N2K are connected to one N5K, with this fex config:Now I´m not sure if it is right to make a config like this with the same slots and fex´s or with different slots and fex´s.
