Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 5020 - Fan Chassis Failed

Oct 24, 2011

I have an alert from monitoring system about: “ fan for this system is not in the NORMAL state”. In the switch I found that the problem is with fex 3, see below:

Nexus5020# sh env fex 3 fan
Fan Fex: 3:
------------------------------------------------------
Fan             Model               Hw         Status
------------------------------------------------------
Chassis     N2K-C2148-FAN       --         failure
PS-1           N2K-PAC-200W         --         OK
PS-2           N2K-PAC-200W         --         OK

 Technician said: fans appear to be operational, BUT the only thing that appears abnormal is STAT light is amber (not sure what it means).

Also, if I compare the temperature from module 3 with module 2 (which doesn’t have an alert) is almost the same, this is why I think the fan is working fine, since module 3 is not hotter that module 2.

What I can do to reset this fan (chassis)?

These two switches form VPC domain: peer-link = 2*10Gb ports (1/17-18) and peer-keepalive link over managements ports.Also I have two HP servers with two 10 Gb ports on each server.Each server conected by one link to each N5K switch (1/9-10). N5K downlinks configured as access ports with LACP Active mode.There is only one VLAN (1).When "no shut" command entered on N5K access ports - ports going in "not connected" status, begin flap and then going in "linkFlapErrDisabled" state.In attach - "sh run" from N5K.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 5548UP Change Peer Keep Alive Link

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Any Function Built In Nexus 5010 To Detect Intermittent Link Down

Nov 23, 2011

I found intermittent link down(20~40 seconds average) occurred about 1~10 times every month. SAP reported a lot of active connections are disconnected and I used a batch to ping and found "requested time out" about 30 seconds.And Windows, SQL server, Nexus 5010 do not show any errors. We run cluster and cluster does not fail over.And I don't know which cables or nics cause this issue. When it happened, almost all servers are unreachable. For example, SQL server 1 -> SQL server 2, IBM HS22-1 -> SQL server 1. However, some connections are not dropped sometimes. It varies each time.PS: I run this topology last year without any problems but it started intermittent link down from 2011/1/7. Because there is no errors in Nexus 5010, it is difficult to troubleshoot. Cisco TAC recommended us to implement virtual port channel yesterday. Could I use "errdisable detect cause" to detect what caused the intermittent link down? Is there any error logs or switch parameters/status can use to troubleshoot?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Per-VLAN QoS On Nexus 5K?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Vlan On Nexus 7K Is Down

I am working in my lab and I was adding a new L2/3 vlan

no shut

I have also ensured that this vlan is added to the port channel going to my Nexus5K's.  I added the vlan to the 5K's and also ensured that vlan 555 is traversing the peer link.  all is good there.  I have also placed a device on a interface on the 2k as a access switchport on vlan 555

Here is my problem, the L3 interface will NOT come up on the 7K

IP Interface Status for VRF "default"(1)
Interface            IP Address      Interface Status
Vlan555             1.1.1.1     protocol-down/link-down/admin-up

I have gone throug just about everything I can think of and I am still unable to get this L3 interface to come up.  I have other L3 interfaces on this device that are configured exactly the sameway without any issue at all.  All the existing interfaces are working properly, it's jut this new interface that I am trying to add.

I am running version 6.0.1 on the 7K and 5.2.1.N1.4 on the 5K.
