I currently have DCHP server set up on my new 1141N. Everything works great, but I wanted to know if it were possible to make the DHCP server only hand out ip addresses on the wireless connection? Currently the AP is giving out ip addresses from the pool to wired and wireless pc's.

The wireless users that get an IP I want then route out the eth0/0 interface to my statically assigned default gateway. Right now Im not concerned with setting up security measures once this works I'll go back in and add that. Here is my running-config. Right now nothing from the 10.0.0.0 is being routed out to the internet.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup my 3550 layer 3 switch to do hand out dhcp addresses for different vlans. It is connected to my router address 192.168.1.1. I setup a new vlan 3 and the dhcp pool.. The client gets a 192.168.3.2 address but am not able to ping the router and other clients and get out to the internet.
Here is the config that I have. I deleted the other ports because I am not using them. The vlan 3 client is on port fast Ethernet 0/17 and the router is connected to the fastethernet 0/1.

1. I have 2 public IP classes from my ISP. 1 class is limitted to 80mbit upload, the other to 30mbit upload. So I need some sort of DNAT to be able to know exactly which intranet computer uses big internet and which one limitted internet.
2. I need DHCP server and with static IP addresses (one computer must always have the same IP address, etc).. i have my needs for this.

So far so good, all looks simple and I can achieve this in 2 hours on a centos linux box (correct routes, ip forwarding enabled and few iptables rules for NAT/SNAT/DNAT).
But on this brand new Centos router well, i'm not even successful in pinging the outside world, nor the inside world I'm tired of reading the forums, the documentation..i want (at first) a simple scenario: vlan+dhcp, fa4 with 1 public ip address and ACCESS to the real world. Setting up a stand-alone WDS/PXE server.Current we have helper addresses setup to forward the DHCP requests from the different VLAN's to the DHCP server. The WDS/PXE server we are setting up is on its server. How do we craft the helper addresses so DHCP requests go to the proper server hosting DHCP and PXE requests go the WDS server?

I upgraded my SG500 switch firmware to 1.3.0.59, since there is a new functionality DHCP server v.4 well I must say I came accross the issue I cannot solve. If I connect a laptop to int fa1/0/10 I DO NOT get an IP address from the 10.100.0.8 scope. If I connect to another interface within the VLAN 1, I get an address from the 10.100.0.0 range.
i have Cisco 1941(with security lic) and i have been asked to make a VPN with public IP addresses so there will be no info about internal networks. Other side has ASA 5520 and they provided me with 2 public IP addresses. i have done many different VPNs but this is first with public IP addresses and i cannot figure it out.So here is the question:

2. Do i need two public IPs to do it ?
Initially there were 3 SSIDs configured but all of them were assigned a single interface and this interface was configured with the controller management IP address as DHCP server so that the WLC could assign IP addresses to wireless clients, guns and printers etc.
Issue: As part of PCI initiative, we decided to segment the traffic in multiple subnets based on type of wireless clients; so now there are 3 interfaces configured and each SSID is assigned a specific dynamic interface and each interface is configured to use the controller management IP address as DHCP server.
There are 3 scopes configured for each of the dynamic interfaces/SSIDs and DHCP proxy is enabled but wirelss clients are still being allocated IP addresses from the original DHCP scope that was associated with the dynamic interface originally assigned to all 3 SSIDs.
I verified the following:
1. Each SSID is assigned a different dynamic interface (Users, Voice and Handhelds)
2. Each dynamic interface is configured to use controllers management IP address as DHCP server
3. DHCP scopes configured with correct network information for each dynamic interface and enabled
I have a LAP1142N that is connected to a 3560 nonPoE switch (using compatible power injector) that will not associate to the controller I have set-up. The wireless is existing and I have about 11 other APs connected to the controller with no issues. The AP will pull an IP address from DHCP running on the primary controller. The AP pulls a new IP address in roughly a minute. I set the pool to be 3 IP addresses and set a contant ping to each, there is about 1 request time out before the next IP address starts pinging. I went to the controller and pulled the following message error from the log.

Have a WLC 5508 running 7.0.230 with internal DHCP server. Timeout is 3600 seconds. The IP addresses never seem to be released. The controller will show 70 clients but 254 addresses will be assigned.

here's the problem, wireless clients connected to WLAN guest keep getting DHCP leases from WLAN local 10.0.50.10 (scope 10.0.70.101 to 200)
Here at HQ we have a 4402 WLC. At our remote sites we have 1231G APs running in autonomous mode. I upgraded one of the APs -- IOS 12.4(3g)JA -- to run LWAPP. Per release notes I've read upgraded 1231's do not support REAP/HREAP mode, consequently, it's running in LOCAL mode.
The AP is managed by the WLC. I created a WLAN for the remote site and assigned it to the MGMT interface; the remote site subnet doesn't exist in HQ. The DHCP server for the remote site is presently at that site; AP and DHCP server reside at the same place.
Clients authenticate successfully to the remote site AP, however, they are not getting DHCP addresses assigned. Does the DHCP server for the remote site have to reside in HQ since the AP is running in local mode? If so, where is that specified, on the MGMT interface config?
I purchased a wireless bridge D-Link DAP-1522 (IP fix 192.168.0.50) to share the Internet connection to two remote devices: WD TV Live HD (IP fix 192.168.0.52) and a Samsung BD P2500 player (IP fix 192.168.0.51: to try the BD-Live) but when I plug it into my network I have an IP conflict and I can not navigate anywhere, even by the computer which control the Netgear router (IP 192.168.0.1 DHCP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49).
I tried with all fixed IP (192.168.0.xxx Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1), but nothing to do, I have the same problem: after a few minutes after plugged the network cable into BD player the network falls.With wired connection (10 m of patch cable!!!) Samsung BD P2500 have no problem (DHCP and IP fix).
Then look closely in the information relating to devices connected to the Netgear router I noticed that all devices connected through the bridge DAP-1522 have the different IP but same MAC address and I think this could be the cause of the problem that creates the Blu Ray when it's connected to the network through the bridge, because he is not identified with any name but only as UNKNOWN as the bridge (a problem that WD Live not seen: same MAC address but is identified by name as WDTVLIVE).
How can I make the MAC addresses from the bridge will be recognized separately from my router/modem Netgear?In the settings of the bridge I noticed that you can enable or disable MAC address cloning, but if the off I would expect that cloning was not done and instead all the devices are identified by the Netgear router with the MAC address of the access bridge.The DAP-1522 masked the MAC address of device that are plugged into bridge.The router has the latest available firm while the original bridge has version 1.20 (the penultimate version available).

I'm having issues with DHCP server not dealing IP after few hours (varies between 1h and 8h) of torrent traffic. If no continuous torrent traffic is applied, the problem does not occur. New wireless devices connect to the wi-fi network, but get stuck on 'getting IP adress'. The problem is with DHCP service or the wireless network service. New wired devices receive IP. The problem is only with wireless devices. I have no additional wireless device, that I can configure the network settings on my own (only phones) to check if it works without DHCP server giving IP. Wired connection is stable, but the bandwidth usage curve becomes somewhat similar to a sinewave.
I did disable the hardware NAT because that feature made the router unstable and caused it to hang up within minutes.

Router says "Invalid IP address" when I try to make a manual IP address reservation of the IP address range.
Example: local network 192.168.1.0/24, where .1 is a router, .2 is a reservation, .20-.50 is a range for DHCP.
Before upgrade I didn't have this problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy co-workers and I have been trying to diagnose a problem that recently started occuring on our AP1141N and AP1142N units. I have found a handful of posts that talk about this issue, but none with a solid solution. It seems that as often as every 24 hours, the radio interfaces change state to down, for seemingly no reason. Once this occurs, the only way to bring the radio interface back up is to reboot the AP. As far as we know, this wasn't happening until recently, when we enabled the "N" speeds. Things were working correctly for a year or two while the APs were configured just for b/g operation. The following is the only seeminlg-relevant thing that shows up in the logs:
*Nov 12 00:53:02.508: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset

The Controller is seen by the WCS at the main site so, connectivity is good and I'm able to login from the main site. I've configured the DHCP server which is at the Main site on the AP manager interface and the Manager interface and on the WLAN of the new controller but, APs are not getting addresses.

I have moved across to another switch port but the issue persists. I have other 1141 and 1131's on this switch and no problems. The keep alives between the AP and Controller is regular. I can't get more info from the traps as the reason code is always;
" AP associated to Controller is UP. Reason: Radio interface reset due to Init"
"AP associated to Controller is down. Reason: Radio interface reset"
"AP associated to Controller is UP. Reason: Radio interface reset"
####Only 2ice was the reason code "Operator changed 11g mode". I have seen some posts about similar problems but there hasn't been any concrete solution provided.

I've created a tonne of dhcp scopes on my routers before never had any issues, however this one will not hand out any addresses at all, i even give the router a reload to see if any magic happened but nothing, ive ended having to put a temp server in with just dhcp installed until i get the router diong what it should my config below, its something simple i havent seen, as ive compared it to plenty of my working DHCP configs and seen nothing.
