Cisco Firewall :: 10-User License For ASA5505 Allows DHCP To Hand Out 32 IPs?
Dec 26, 2011
My cisco representative tells me that I am limited to 10 IP addresses for my 10 user license on an ASA 5505 even though the Cisco documentation specifically states that a 10 user license allows the maximum DHCP clients to 32 IP addresses.
I want to have 30 computers get IP addresses from the ASA, but don't need any but one or two to get outside the internal network. Is this possible with a 10 USER license.

I have 10 user license for Cisco ASA, i have to use this ASA for client connectivity. Can i do NAT of more than 10 users with this license? What i understand is NO.
But as per Below explaination looks like, i can if i am not doing default routing? Actually i just need to add a specific Route towards client DMZ interface on my ASA, no default route, so can i use more than 10 concurrent sessions with this license?

I have Cisco ASA5505 8.2(5) connected with Cisco 5520 8.2(1) via IPSEC tunnel, I was able to SSH from the inside 5520 to inside IP of the asa5505. but I after I upgrade the license to security plus at 5505 I lost the SSH and ASDM to inside IP of 5505 from the inside network of the 5520. however I still can use SSH and ASDM on outside IP of 5505.
I did a lot of testing to make it work but I couldn't I added SSH 0.0.0.0/0 inside and outside also I added acl on both interfaces. when I did a trace on the outside interface from the private network of 5520 to 5505 inside IP I got IPSEC spoofed by the way that trace only works with security plus because I try to test on all my other firewalls 8.2(5) it shows nothing and all my firewalls can accessed from the private network 5520 except the one with the security plus!

a client of ours bought an ASA5505-BUN-SEC-K9, and it was working fine, for some reason (beyond me) they flashed the memory and configuration in an attempt to fix smoe problems they were facing. Now they are faced with the dilema that the SEC license is no longer visible and usuable, so how can they recover this license knowing that they have bought the bbundle mentioned above?

Internal 192.168.1.1/24 DMZ 172.16.0.1/24 Outside 20.20.20.20/24 The DMZ is configured to allow the traffic pass to the outside interface only (base license allow only traffic to one interface) in order to let clients on this network to browse internet. On the outside interface there's a nat configuration that let the port 443 to be natted to an in internal server. Is it possible to let the clients in DMZ to access to the internal server on port 443 from the outside interface?

I have a wireless access point, I want to be able to hand out addresses via the Cisco router through DHCP on the interface eth0/1. The wireless users that get an IP I want then route out the eth0/0 interface to my statically assigned default gateway. Right now Im not concerned with setting up security measures once this works I'll go back in and add that. Here is my running-config. Right now nothing from the 10.0.0.0 is being routed out to the internet.

I have a ASA5505 that i have running asdm 6.4 on it and have tried setting up some DHCP scopes for the interfaces.I have the security plus key.I set up 4 interfaces all with different subnets and all with different DHCP being doled out by the firewall for the time being.Anyway, 3 of the 4 work.I have tried to change interfaces wondering if there was an issue with that phy device.I tried enableing the subnet that would not work first and it didnt matter still would not issue dhcp.the other 3 work fine.Is there a limitation to the amount of scopes that will issue dhcp for an asa5505 ?

I have ASA5505 as my main router (192.168.15.1) and it currently it also serves as DHCP server. I have a WNDR3700 (192.168.15.2) which work as an access point and it provide wireless access for wireless devices. I have few dhcp clients where i can't setup static IP, and i want to restrict them to use static IP through MAC reservation.
1. Make ASA5505 to do the MAC reservation f, which will be easy setup for me. But as per my search its not possible.
2. Disable dhcp on ASA and enable dhcp on my WNDR3700. i tired this and dhcp clients are getting IP from wndr3700, but the problem is dhcp clients gateway defaults to 192.168.15.2 (as well as dns) and therefore no internet connection.

I´m trying to upgrade a Customer's ASA 5505 base license from 10 to 50 users (ASA5505-SW-10-50=). But the reseller sent a ASA5505-SW-50-UL= license instead. I tried to register that license and the following messaged appeared.
Wrong Sku(s) 'ASA5505-SW-50-UL=' for 'ASA5505-K8' : Device contains following licenses 'ASA5505-SW-10,ASA5500-ENCR-K9'
Serial Number = JMX1235Z0TZ
same platform type as the failed serial number. An upgrade request is not allowed. open a Service Request using the TAC Service Request Tool at [URL].As an alternative you may also call our main Technical Assistance Center at 800-553-2447.Sincerely,Cisco Systems Licensing.
I tried to contact TAC for assistance but It's not possible because that kind of service is outside the parameters of the service contracts associated with my cisco.com profile.

NEW SEALED* Cisco ASA5505-BUN-K9 Firewall 10-User
I assume 10-user means this device comes with a 10 user VPN license? Is there anything else I should be looking for when purchasing an ASA? Mainly looking to use my NetGear WNDR3700 as just a WiFi AP and not my edge device.

I need to configure our ASA5505 firewall for remote access to our network using EasyVPN software installed on a laptop. That laptop will be connected in the different places, using DSL or 3G toggle or Public Wi-Fi. For some people it's very easy, but I don't have any experience with firewalls.

We are using an ASA 5510 and remote access (SSL VPN) using the AnyConnect client.
Is it possible to display a user message when a user connects using the AnyConnect client, matching a specific dynamic access policy? Can the message be displayed when the action is "Continue" rather than "Terminate"? I can't seem to get this to work and wondered if there was a LUA function to do this.
We have a DAP which gives a restricted ACL when the user's anti-virus is out of date, and I wanted to notify the user to update their anti-virus and reconnect.

I have a new customer that I installed an ASA 5505 to replace a Linksys VPN router. They have a main office with a static IP address, 3 branch offices with static IP addresses and 2 branches that are doing DHCP from the ISP for their router address. I have no problem getting the static VPNs up and running. My problem is with the VPN connections that are doing DHCP. I can go in and determine what IP they are currently using and setup a connection and it works fine. The problem is of course when their IP address from the ISP changes, which seems to happen at least daily. What is the proper way to setup a connection that is using DHCP? Also, can you setup multiple connections this way? Currently the 2 locations have different passwords setup in their routers.

I've been searching the net for days now trying to configure the ASA5505 for dual DHCP ISP use. All guides available assume you have one static.
After realizing that it required a Security Plus license to even configure 3 VLANs.
I can choose a backup interface in ASDM. It even says dual ISP enabled. Why cant there be a guide or simple configuration example or am I the only one looking for this kind of solution?
Customer has two ADSL internet connections and want to switch between them if they fail. No load balancing required.

I just get to hands-on on my new WLC 5508?
1) I'm using a single subnet eg 192.168.1.0/24 for my wireless clients and i'm assigning them via the DHCP server from the WLC. As the clients are however made up of laptops and scanners, i would like to assign a range from 50-150 for the laptops and 151-250 for the scanners for easier identification. But it seems that from the WLC DHCP menu i'm not able to do this unless i segment them into a different network with different gateways.
2) Is there anyway to change the WLC user accounts password too? I dont seems to be able to find the option unless i delete the account and re-create it with the new password.

I can't seem to find any info on how to configure 2 DHCP server pools on a C3750, to use with 2 user vlans. The purpose is that users in vlan 1 should get an IP address from DHCP server1, and users in vlan 2 should get an IP address from DHCP server2. Both DHCP servers are configured in a stack of C3750 switches, which acts a a L2 switch.
