Cisco WAN :: Setup 3550 Layer 3 Switch To Do Hand Out Dhcp Addresses For Different Vlans?

Dec 26, 2012

I am trying to setup my 3550 layer 3 switch to do hand out dhcp addresses for different vlans.  It is connected to my router address 192.168.1.1.  I setup a new vlan 3 and the dhcp pool.. The client gets a 192.168.3.2 address but am not able to ping the router and other clients and get out to the internet.

Here is the config that I have.  I deleted the other ports because I am not using them.  The vlan 3 client is on port fast Ethernet 0/17 and the router is connected to the fastethernet 0/1.

Cisco 2611 Router - Enable To Hand Out Addresses Through DHCP

Oct 4, 2012

I have a wireless access point, I want to be able to hand out addresses via the Cisco router through DHCP on the interface eth0/1. The wireless users that get an IP I want then route out the eth0/0 interface to my statically assigned default gateway. Right now Im not concerned with setting up security measures once this works I'll go back in and add that. Here is my running-config. Right now nothing from the 10.0.0.0 is being routed out to the internet.

Cisco WAN :: 3550 Port Forward Down Through Layer 3 Switch

Aug 18, 2011

I'm looking at implementing a cisco 3550 Layer 3 switch and would like to know if i can forward ports down to all of my different Subnet Servers/Pc's.

For example. See attached image.10.0.3.5 is a mail server. 4.2.2.2 is our public IP.

I would like to forward TCP port 25 down to our Mail servers IP. Any reason this will not work by using the cisco 3550? Currently we have a flat network (1 subnet) and port forwarding works fine.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Internet Access For 3550 Switch VLANs?

Feb 22, 2012

I have a small cisco switch cluster (seven different 2924, 3524cisco switches) with 3550 as a cluster control which does all the inter vlan routing that works fine.

This cluster is in semi production PBX interop testing lab. This is a closed network without internet access and not connected to our corporate network.However now I have to add this capability so some equipment in the lab can get Microsoft updates over the internet.

I've created a port on a 3550 (fa0/19) and connected it to another network that has internet access. It picked an ip address and when I'm logged in to the 3550 I can ping hosts on the outside network. However I can't ping any hosts on that network from any hosts that are connected to my vlans.I've tried a few different things, but still can't make it to work.

Here is a short version of my 3550 configuration:

service timestamps debug uptime
service timestamps log datetime

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560 DHCP In Layer 3 Switch

May 25, 2012

I have made a topology by using one 3560 switch and 2 2950 switches. I have also made 2 vlans name Clients and other Servers and vlan 1 is for anagement purposes. The left 2950 switch is for clients and the right is for servers. Clients is vlan 2 and servers is vlan3 . Now what i want is that my dhcp is should assign ips to clients in vlans 2 provided that servers are in vlan 3. I am also using a border router and i have introduced a default route on the 3560 to the border router.

Now when i assign static ips to my clients pc and server dhcp then i can ping between vlans but when i try to assign ip through dhcp then it wont work. Also the default route on the switch to the border router doesnt seem to work. I can ping only the border router when i put a default route on the border router instead of the 3560 switch.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG 100-16 Switch - 2 DHCP Addresses

I currently have a the following configuration and am unable to get more than 2 DHCP addresses for the devices connected to the Cisco new SG 100-16 Switch.The AP have no trouble handing out DHCP to the wireless clients, but we are unable to get the SG 100-16 to be able to do the same thing to wired clients.  It is currently connected to the 2960-8 in port 1.  We can get 2 devices connected without a problem, but the 3rd machine and beyond do not work.  Also, setting up a static IP does not work.  Using a static will not even allow us to ping or tracer back to any devices beyond the SG 100-16.

Even if only two people are active they still only get 3 Mbps download. I would like to set it up so if two people are using they each get 50 Mbps; a sort of 'dynamic qos. Is this possible with these switches? Would we have to purchase a Cisco router in order to provide this feature?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3550 / 2950 DHCP Relay Option To Router Handing Out DHCP

Apr 3, 2012

Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.

How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?

I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?

Cisco :: Can QoS Be Retained From Layer 2 To 3 Without VLANs

Feb 9, 2013

I have a question about QoS and how, or if, it functions between a layer 2 switch and a router. My question is, can a frame's COS sent from a layer 2 switch to a router be recognized and converted (mapped) to a DSCP setting without the use of a vlan (not the native vlan1), and can the reverse be done from a router to a layer 2 switch? Can QoS be preserved as it passes through the different devices? I know, pretty basic, but I have to start somewhere.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Created Load Balancing Between Two Catalyst 3550 On Couple Of Vlans

I am testing on lab equipment (2 Catalyst 3550 and 1 Catalyst 3560) HSRP version 1 and 2.I successfully created a load balancing between the two Catalyst 3550 on a couple of vlans (11 and 12) on ver 1

now, just adding the command "standby xx version 2" my hosts on the 2 vlans are completely unable to ping the virtual IP def. gw on debugging i checked that msgs are exchangedthe two cat 3550 are seeing each other on HSRP (active / standby roles)the real ip addresses are pingable rebooted the swiches (just as a last resort try)deleted arp chache on hostsremoved the auth on hsrp  all of this no effect.

i also tried to modify the priority on the cat 3560 (before he was on both vlans in standby) to make it the active one and with the same config it worked flawlessly.

My only idea is that there is a bug on CATs 3550 (IOS: c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE4.bin) [code]

CBT Nuggets seems to have an IOS that supports VLAN and IP Addresses and it looks like mine only goes up to Token Ring so it doesn't mirror the instruction. I know it's an old router but is there a software release (like the 12.4 maybe?) that would allow me to follow the CBT Nuggets more accurately so that I can set the switch up for IP Addresses and VLAN instead of limiting me to token ring?

The outside interface is public static ip, so the requirement would be to not nat anything if coming from inside vlan10 but nat if coming from inside vlan20.I didn't think this was possible since the outside interface would have to use an outside nat command that would not be ignored for traffic coming from vlan10.

Cisco Wireless :: 6500 WISM / Layer 3 Roaming And DHCP?

Nov 16, 2012

Setting up a multi floor WLAN using a 6500 WISM Controller. Each floor has an AP group with the floor WAPs assigned. Each floor has a VLAN and the WLC has an interface configured. Each floor has a WLAN configured with the same SSID and the only change is the interface on the WLAN per floor.DHCP is remote on AD servers and each floor as a scope configured.Each floor works fine - we can get connected and get assigned to correct IP address. The issue we had with this setup was moving between floors. When we move up a floor the client loses connection to the inital floor (coverage - as expected). if we disconnect and reconnect it connects to the new floor SSID and gets an IP from DHCP.When looking into this - I then created an interface group and added all the floor interfaces into the group. I then applied the interface group to each floor WLAN and did soem testing - it worked as expected. I could now move between floors.The issue with this is though. When I was testing I already had an IP address assigned from DHCP - before I changed to interface groups. The issue is that the intial DHCP assignment no longer works and we cant connect to the WLAN anymore,

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3550 - Configure Firewall DHCP Server Through 10.1.1.0 Connection?

Oct 2, 2012

Is there a way to configure a DHCP server for my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 which is on a 3550 layer 3 switch from my 5505 ASA Firewall.My subnet of 10.1.1.0/30 is connecting my 5505 to 3550. All I'm trying to do is run a DHCP server down to my hosts. The only options on ASA 5505 is

dhcpd address 192.168.20.1 - 192.168.20.254 outside or inside, which conflicts with my subnet of 10.1.1.0 used to connect my internal subnet of 192.168.20.1 for the whole network.

When I used my router it did not need the (inside, outside) keywords and just an ip helper-address command. How do I configure my my firewall DHCP server to propagate the 192.168.20.0 network through my 10.1.1.0 connection.
