Have a WLC 5508 running 7.0.230 with internal DHCP server. Timeout is 3600 seconds. The IP addresses never seem to be released. The controller will show 70 clients but 254 addresses will be assigned.
View 2 RepliesRouter is setup as DHCP and only allows 7 IP address leases that expire daily. Lease time is set to 0. I have the latest firmware. Until recently when our family started using Apple iPhones (2 of them), I didn't have this issue.
Now I'm having a problem where my clients table will show leased IP's with no devices attached to them. I have to clear those no-name addresses so that the iPhones and other non-Apple wireless devices in the house can re-establish a connection.
How can I get those IP's to be removed without having to constantly log into the router and clear them?
We have a Cisco 4400 controller and a mix of 1010 and 1131 access points.
We have been running out of IP's on our DHCP server because the apple devices are not releasing there IP's.
DHCP scope is configured on a WLC 5508.I'm checking if there' a way for WLC to clear the dhcp leasing when a user is diconnected from wireless?

Now my enterprise decided bouth another WLC and wants to deploy a active-passive scenario. This new Controller should manages all the AP's when the central WLC fails...
My questions are... I need to have the same ip addressing on both sites? or they can be different. I nedd to configure some on my Ap's that are working as local mode, for allow the secondary WLC manage them when mi central WLC fails
Our 5508 Wireless Controller will drop MAC addresses clean out of the system. Addresses that are in use everyday just disappear. It is not a limitation issue because we are adding iPads everyday. And it is not a daily occurance, but maybe once or twice a week. Everything has been updated and it is more of a hassle than anything, I am just trying to understand what is happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedInitially there were 3 SSIDs configured but all of them were assigned a single interface and this interface was configured with the controller management IP address as DHCP server so that the WLC could assign IP addresses to wireless clients, guns and printers etc.
Issue: As part of PCI initiative, we decided to segment the traffic in multiple subnets based on type of wireless clients; so now there are 3 interfaces configured and each SSID is assigned a specific dynamic interface and each interface is configured to use the controller management IP address as DHCP server.
There are 3 scopes configured for each of the dynamic interfaces/SSIDs and DHCP proxy is enabled but wirelss clients are still being allocated IP addresses from the original DHCP scope that was associated with the dynamic interface originally assigned to all 3 SSIDs.
I verified the following:
1. Each SSID is assigned a different dynamic interface (Users, Voice and Handhelds)
2. Each dynamic interface is configured to use controllers management IP address as DHCP server
3. DHCP scopes configured with correct network information for each dynamic interface and enabled
I have a LAP1142N that is connected to a 3560 nonPoE switch (using compatible power injector) that will not associate to the controller I have set-up. The wireless is existing and I have about 11 other APs connected to the controller with no issues. The AP will pull an IP address from DHCP running on the primary controller. The AP pulls a new IP address in roughly a minute. I set the pool to be 3 IP addresses and set a contant ping to each, there is about 1 request time out before the next IP address starts pinging. I went to the controller and pulled the following message error from the log.

The 1130ag was the LAP model but I upgraded it to run in autonomous mode. My understanding is that it cannot assign IP addresses but I just want that confirmed. It is not connected to a WLC nor a server that can do DHCP.

here's the problem, wireless clients connected to WLAN guest keep getting DHCP leases from WLAN local 10.0.50.10 (scope 10.0.70.101 to 200)
Here at HQ we have a 4402 WLC. At our remote sites we have 1231G APs running in autonomous mode. I upgraded one of the APs -- IOS 12.4(3g)JA -- to run LWAPP. Per release notes I've read upgraded 1231's do not support REAP/HREAP mode, consequently, it's running in LOCAL mode.
The AP is managed by the WLC. I created a WLAN for the remote site and assigned it to the MGMT interface; the remote site subnet doesn't exist in HQ. The DHCP server for the remote site is presently at that site; AP and DHCP server reside at the same place.
Clients authenticate successfully to the remote site AP, however, they are not getting DHCP addresses assigned. Does the DHCP server for the remote site have to reside in HQ since the AP is running in local mode? If so, where is that specified, on the MGMT interface config?
I'd like to add a name to a few ip addresses in the DHCP client table currently there is an asterix for a couple client names. the router is an ea3500.

I thought this new router would be an upgrade to my old dlink but so far I get a new problem every day.I have reserved dhcp addresses for all the boxes and set up port triggering for the ports listed in several guides. But what else do I need to do? Is it likely I got a bad router?

I'm having issues with DHCP server not dealing IP after few hours (varies between 1h and 8h) of torrent traffic. If no continuous torrent traffic is applied, the problem does not occur. New wireless devices connect to the wi-fi network, but get stuck on 'getting IP adress'. The problem is with DHCP service or the wireless network service. New wired devices receive IP. The problem is only with wireless devices. I have no additional wireless device, that I can configure the network settings on my own (only phones) to check if it works without DHCP server giving IP. Wired connection is stable, but the bandwidth usage curve becomes somewhat similar to a sinewave.
I did disable the hardware NAT because that feature made the router unstable and caused it to hang up within minutes.
Is it possible to assign IP addresses to remote site WIFI users from local DHCP server and forward all other traffic to 2504 WLC?

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium?Trying unsuccessfully so far to reconnect a client machine to a wireless network that it has been on for a year or so.ISP was down for about 2 hours the other day and when it came back up, the client machine started getting the IP address conflict. Went in to release and renew and got the following error messages:
on release: An error occurred while releasing interface Wireless Network Connection: An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint.
on renew: The DHCP client has obtained an IP address that is use on the network. The local interface will be disabled until the DHCP client can obtain a new address.
The next thing I tried was to go in an give a manual IP address to the Wireless Adapter. But the TCP/IP properties are greyed out and I receive the following error message:Some of the controls on this property sheet are already open. To use these controls, close all these property sheets and then reopen this one.
I've just installed a 2106 Controller at a remote site. The Controller is seen by the WCS at the main site so, connectivity is good and I'm able to login from the main site. I've configured the DHCP server which is at the Main site on the AP manager interface and the Manager interface and on the WLAN of the new controller but, APs are not getting addresses.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe've encountered problem from the last few days with DHCP on certain SSID's. We have a wireless network with 13 SSID's being managed by a WLC 5508 pair configured as high availability (52 AIR-CAP3502I). Yesterday we encountered an issue with DHCP on a few of the SSID's but not all, and as a last resort a reboot of the controller fixed the problem. Statically assigning addressing allows for traffic to traverse the network out to the web and back so I don't think it's a VLAN configuration issue on the wired side. It's worth mentioning however that the controllers are configured for a LAG to HP switches. DHCP is being handled by an external windows DHCP server and the primary server address points to the gateway which has a relay configuration pointing to the windows server on the other side of it. Again, rebooting the controller fixed the problem and the web traffic traverses fine if statically assigning addressing.

The students usually have more than one WiFi enable device on them and their laptops and phones both take an IP address, but they are only using the laptop to authenticate while the phone is associted, but not authenticated. In the meantime, I have several thousand IPs being used by their phones/iPods etc. Is there a way to revoke the DHCP lease if the client does not authenticate within a specified time frame (i.e. 10 minutes)?

I am having trouble getting DHCP working for a site connected using Flex Connect. Here is my setup. I have a single 5508 Controller at one site using the 10.3.0.0 network. All AP's at that site are in local mode and use the local DHCP server, 10.3.0.2. Everything works fine there. Each site uses a different SSID as well.
At my second site, 10.4.0.0, all AP's there connect back to the controller at the site above and are in Flex Connect mode. The AP's work fine and the clients work fine there but they get an IP address on teh 10.3.0.0 instead of the 10.4.0.0 network. If i setup the SSID at this site to override the DHCP server settings and tell it to use 10.4.0.2, which is our local DHCP server, the clients don't get an address at all.Is this simply a matter of setting an IP Helper address on the router where the WLC is located or is there more to it than that?
I recently upgraded a clients WLC and they keep saying they are unable to get an IP address from the DHCP server. It's a simple, flat network and here is what the logs are showing.

I currently have a the following configuration and am unable to get more than 2 DHCP addresses for the devices connected to the Cisco new SG 100-16 Switch.The AP have no trouble handing out DHCP to the wireless clients, but we are unable to get the SG 100-16 to be able to do the same thing to wired clients. It is currently connected to the 2960-8 in port 1. We can get 2 devices connected without a problem, but the 3rd machine and beyond do not work. Also, setting up a static IP does not work. Using a static will not even allow us to ping or tracer back to any devices beyond the SG 100-16.
View 7 Replies View RelatedNetgear DG834 allocates IP Addresses using DHCP to 5 computers and 2 tills, the tills addresses and one computer IP addreess are reserved and fixed, so that data can be downloaded from the tills to this computer. However I had to re-format the computer and the Router now allocates a new IP address to it, which the tills cannot recognise, so I cannot download the data from the tills to the computer. Is it possible to change the newly allocated Computer IP address in the Router back to the old one.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin model F9K1102 router supplying WAN/LAN connection to three PCs and 2 laptops. Two of the PCs are hardwired with the remainder PC and laptops are wireless. I'm using the default router IP of 192.168.2.1 and my ISP is Charter Cable (if that's of significance). The router is picking up all the dynamic IP information from my ISP and internal DHCP is enabled. Here's the issue though - when I connect a PC, laptop or iTouch (wired or wireless) with obtain IP settings automatically enabled the IP address it receives an IP address on a different subnet ie, 192.168.3.x and thus won't have WAN/LAN connection. I have tried to set the router IP to 192.168.3.1 and set the scope in the .3 subnet but the IP obtained by the device is .4! This makes no sense to me at all. The router is on the latest firmware (according to Belkin) and there doesn't seem to be any other update I can find. I have also tried another Belkin router (older model: F5D8236) and it does the same thing.
I'm not sure if this is related but I upgraded my service with Charter to a 18MB connection and a D3.0 Ubee cable modem - this issue seem to have began after this upgrade but I don't see how that would have any bearing on what is happening on my LAN IP scope and Charter tech support is pretty useless. My workaround is that I've static assigned an IP for each device in the same subnet as the router but it would be nice for the DHCP to function correctly.
I imagine I can use the framed-ip-address attribute to assign ip-addresses but there seem to be support for static ip addresses only?A bit of a drag when we're talking 200+ nodes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Internal DHCP Server configured on the Cisco WLC 5508 and all is working fine. DHCP Range is 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.245. Now I created another SSID but I want clients connecting to this SSID get specific IP's or from a specific range. WLC has no option to bind a DHCP pool to a specific IP so what I did I checked the option to "Override DHCP" and added the IP of my firewall WLC is connected to and setup a DHCP Pool on that firewall as 192.168.1.89 to 192.168.1.94 (192.168.1.88/29).
Client can connect to the second SSID but can't grab and IP address, what am I missing ?
At customer site we have a wireless lan installed with wireless lan controller 5508. This works fine but the customer wants to add wireless bridge WET200 into the network. The problem is that the bridge seems to authenticate and associates with the LWAPP but does not get an ip-address.

1. Two wireless LAN Controllers 5508, each with 25 AP license. AP load (5APs per Contorller) shared between the WLCs and congured with Backup Controller option.
2. The design has a Data Center Switch 3560x series, on which the two WLCs, Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco MSE were connected. I've attached the design here.
3. The Data Center Switch is configured with DHCP pool for the wireless clients. The IP Address of the Data Center Switch is : 10.xx.xx.2 and Default Gateway is: 10.xx.xx.1
4. On the WLC, the Management Interface is configured with the IP Address: 10.xx.xx.21 for Controller 1 adnd 10.xx.xx.22 for Controller 2. But, their DHCP Server is configured with IP Address: 10.xx.xx.1 but not with 10.xx.xx.2 .
This means, all the DHCP requests are pointing towards the Gateway of the Data Center Switch.Is this the correct configuration?I have seen the Wireless Clients getting the IPs allocated from the DHCP Pool, even though the Management Interface's DHCP server configured with Gateway IP address 10.xx.xx.1 .

I am trying to come up with a wireless solution for a campus deployment. The campus has ten buildings currently using Autonomous APs and are currently converting to Dual 5508 Controller model.
I would like to have a separate AP Mgmt subnet in each building, so I will configure an ip helper on the SVI on this vlan to:
Option1 - Point to the Internet Router configured with DHCP Option 43 with the controller IP addresses
Option 2 - Point to the Wireless LAN Controller itself.
Problem with Option 1 is that the Internet Router will now have to connect directly to the COE network to be able to route back to the AP mgmt subnets. So I would emply a VRF here to keep the separation.
Problem with option 2 is that there appears to only be one DHCP scope allowed on the controller. So this would mean a flat mgmt network across all buildings which I am trying to avoid. I know that after the AP joins the controller, I could change the IP and change the vlan on the port but this is not very neat.
So question is:
Is there a way of getting multiple DHCP pools on the controller?
