Cisco Wireless :: Clients Authenticating To 1231G Not Getting Assigned DHCP Addresses

Jun 24, 2007

Here at HQ we have a 4402 WLC. At our remote sites we have 1231G APs running in autonomous mode. I upgraded one of the APs -- IOS 12.4(3g)JA -- to run LWAPP. Per release notes I've read upgraded 1231's do not support REAP/HREAP mode, consequently, it's running in LOCAL mode.

The AP is managed by the WLC. I created a WLAN for the remote site and assigned it to the MGMT interface; the remote site subnet doesn't exist in HQ. The DHCP server for the remote site is presently at that site; AP and DHCP server reside at the same place.

Clients authenticate successfully to the remote site AP, however, they are not getting DHCP addresses assigned.  Does the DHCP server for the remote site have to reside in HQ since the AP is running in local mode? If so, where is that specified, on the MGMT interface config?

Cisco Firewall :: Pix 515E Cannot Ping Or Assign DHCP Addresses To Inside Clients

I have a PIX 515E that I want to use to as a border between my internet connection and my Cisco AIR1131AG.  I have configured the PIX to have the outside interface as a dhcp client which gets its dynamic IP address from the cable modem. the AP is connected to the E1 inside interface. Now I could see the E1 interface from the arp table from the AP but I cannot ping it. From the firewall I don't see the ARP  table  from the firewall. and i cannot ping the AP. what is wrong with the configuration? side note, i am able to connect to the AIR1131AG from my laptop I was not able to retrieve an IP address.

Cisco Wireless :: 1260 Root AP De-authenticating WGB Clients After 6 Minutes Of Inactivity

May 27, 2013

i have 2 1260 Access points one is in root mode , one is wgb mode. Authentication is EAPFAST. There are 5 devices connected via WGB bridge to the rest of the network.

- If clients are sending some data , then WGB AP announces this client mac via IAPP to root AP and rest of the network sees them correctly
- If clients are "passive" , then after WBG AP announces them to root AP , they timeout after 6 minutes on root AP and obviously they are not pingable from the rest of the network. The only way to restore connectivity is to ping that device from WGB AP, then WGB AP announces via IAPP to root AP , then and only then they become visible from the rest of the network.

My question is related to this 6 minute timeout on root AP . Is it normal behaviour ?

Cisco :: 1140 - Win XP Clients Not Authenticating Using PEAP

Apr 2, 2013

Cisco Routers :: No Gateway Being Assigned For RV110W VPN Clients

Oct 22, 2012

I have a RV110W which is am using as a router (not  gateway), because it is connected to the DSL modem (not planning to  bridge it) through its WAN port. The DSL modem forwards all PPTP traffic to the RV110W.The only pupose of the RV110W for me is to use it as a VPN router.

Info:
Firmware version: 1.1.0.9

Below are the settings I have:

WAN:
LAN:N.B. The modem runs a DHCP server, so I am relaying the requets to it
VPN:N.B. Also tried with 192.168.0.0 and 12.168.2.0 networks; same thing.

Routing Settings:

Routing Table:NB: 192.168.1.11 and 10 are VPN clients (created automatically).

Firewall:Users are being able to successfully connect to the VPN; however, there are couple of problems:

1. They are not assigned a gateway; hence, not internet connectivty (i want them to use the remote gateway)

2. They are not able to access the 192.168.0.0 network; hence unable to reach their DNS server and other hosts (run a tracert; they couldn't go beyond the RV110W VPN server IP). For this, i tried to turnoff the firewall on the RV110W, and also tried to create and Access Rule to allow all outboud and inbound traffic between LAN and WAN, but no success.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5505 Outside Access For Clients With Dynamically Assigned IPs

Feb 7, 2013

We have an ASA configured to access the internet, which works fine for clients who have an IP address assigned by DHCP, but not for clients with manually assigned IPs.

For instance, with the DHCP server configured to give IP addresses between 172.16.101.1 and 172.16.101.10, a device may get the IP address 172.16.101.1. This machine will have connectivity to the internet.

If we then configure DHCPd server range as 172.16.101.2 to 172.16.101.10 and statically assign the 172.16.101.1 IP to the client, it will not have internet access. It will, however have inside access and VPN access.

If I try to ping 8.8.8.8, the following is logged:

ASA 3  Feb 08 2013  15:51:01  8.8.8.8  xxx.xxx.xxx.100    Deny inbound icmp src    outside:8.8.8.8    dst    servers:xxx.xxx.xxx.100 (type 0, code 0)

Where 'servers' is the name of the inside interface the request is made from and 'xxx.xxx.xxx.100' is the external IP. It seems as DNAT is not working when the client IP is static assigned.

Cisco WAN :: 2600 - IP Won't Get Assigned To Interface By ISP DHCP

Dec 27, 2011

I've been using this setting for clients in small offices and what not,  and since all they wanted was to give another nutch of security to their network, we've been intalling cisco routers 2600 series still outhere for their internet connections and we had no issues what so ever, not until we run into cable isp provider, and their dhcp wont be able to assign our interface a dynamic IP, this is the setting aplied to the router interface;

interface fastethernet0/0
ip address dhcp
ip nat outside
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp

Why it wont be seen or assigned an ip by their dhcp, I talked to their isp and they assigned a static ip (private one) and we still have the same issue, if i connect a pix 506e interface with the ip add dhcp assigned  to it gets a dynamic ip right away...

PC Being Assigned Non-existent IP Range Over DHCP

Feb 18, 2011

I've got an issue with one of the businesses I work with. Just yesterday a PC had this problem, and this morning one more followed suit. These PC's were given a 192.168.35.x IP address when configured to take whatever the router gives them, however our Sonicwall TZ190 is configured to hand out a 192.168.20.x IP address over DHCP. There were no secondary IP configurations on the client workstation, no virii, nothing out of the ordinary. When I set a static IP on the client it works fine, but when I put it back to automatic it will once again give itself a 192.168.35.x IP (and subsequently have a gateway of .35.1, somehow). I've checked the router, there's nothing on the LAN side of the network interfaces besides 192.168.20.x.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 120 IP Address From Incorrect Scope Is Assigned From DHCP

Jul 8, 2012

I am trying to setup VLANs and most of configurations are working ok now except IP address assignment from DHCP. If any computer in VLAN 120 or 130 configured with manual IP address, then all works fine. It can reach internal servers and the internet without problem. If the IP address is assigned automatically then any computer in VLAN 120 or 130 are obtaining  IP address (strangely!) from VLAN 100. Because switch ports that connected to the computer belongs to VLAN 120 or 130, the computer cannot reach internal servers and the internet with ip address from VLAN 100 . All SVI interfaces for VLAN 100, 120 and 130 have ip helper-address option defined pointing to the DHCP server. No DHCP snooping enabled on all switches at this point. DHCP server have three scopes for the three different VLANs.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 7.0.230.0 - Incorrect DHCP Addresses Being Allocated?

May 13, 2012

Initially there were 3 SSIDs configured but all of them were assigned a single interface and this interface was configured with the controller management IP address as DHCP server so that the WLC could assign IP addresses to wireless clients, guns and printers etc.

Issue: As part of PCI initiative, we decided to segment the traffic in multiple subnets based on type of wireless clients; so now there are 3 interfaces configured and each SSID is assigned a specific dynamic interface and each interface is configured to use the controller management IP address as DHCP server.

There are 3 scopes configured for each of the dynamic interfaces/SSIDs and DHCP proxy is enabled but wirelss clients are still being allocated IP addresses from the original DHCP scope that was associated with the dynamic interface originally assigned to all 3 SSIDs.

I verified the following:

1. Each SSID is assigned a different dynamic interface (Users, Voice and Handhelds)

2. Each dynamic interface is configured to use controllers management IP address as DHCP server

3. DHCP scopes configured with correct network information for each dynamic interface and enabled

Cisco Wireless :: LAP1142N Cycling IP Addresses From DHCP

Feb 12, 2013

I have a LAP1142N that is connected to a 3560 nonPoE switch (using compatible power injector) that will not associate to the controller I have set-up. The wireless is existing and I have about 11 other APs connected to the controller with no issues. The AP will pull an IP address from DHCP running on the primary controller. The AP pulls a new IP address in roughly a minute. I set the pool to be 3 IP addresses and set a contant ping to each, there is about 1 request time out before the next IP address starts pinging. I went to the controller and pulled the following message error from the log.

*Feb 13 14:24:58.614: %LWAPP-3-HDR_ENCAP_ERR: spam_lrad.c:4216 Unable to encapsulate LWAPP header for discovery response; AP (APs MAC address)

I have tried a different cable, connecting to a PoE switch, different controller, larger DHCP range, hosting DHCP on the distribution switch, I am awaiting console access to the AP since this is remote work. The controller is running Software Version 5.1.151.0. Thoughts?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR4300 - DHCP Not Dealing Addresses After Few Hours?

Region : Poland
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n
ISP : [url]...

I'm having issues with DHCP server not dealing IP after few hours (varies between 1h and 8h) of torrent traffic. If no continuous torrent traffic is applied, the problem does not occur. New wireless devices connect to the wi-fi network, but get stuck on 'getting IP adress'. The problem is with DHCP service or the wireless network service. New wired devices receive IP. The problem is only with wireless devices. I have no additional wireless device, that I can configure the network settings on my own (only phones) to check if it works without DHCP server giving IP. Wired connection is stable, but the bandwidth usage curve becomes somewhat similar to a sinewave.

I did disable the hardware NAT because that feature made the router unstable and caused it to hang up within minutes.

I tried configuring The WLC internal DHCP server (instead of the ADSL router) and that didn't work. It seems like a DHCP problem but I dont understand the source of the problem of think of the solution. When turning off the proxy settings I noticed that it worked. Is there anything to do with that? The problem was that after a while the other WLANs starting causing DHCP issues as well.
