The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be moving into a place in the next couple months where I'll have to go wireless on my desktop (until now I've just done Ethernet so I don't even have a wifi card on my desktop). The router/modem aren't anywhere near my bedroom so my gear will be going wireless from now on All my devices are built-in wifi ready but not my desktop.
I would like recommendations as to a rock-solid, reliable, fast and well performing card as I can to make up for no hardwired connection. Especially with BF3 coming out I'm not all that thrilled with being forced into this situation but you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyhow, I'll be bringing my router (Netgear WNDR3700) so I'll have the range and speed from there about as good as I can get, so I'd like a card of equal merit.
One side note...probably not really feasible considering I want speed and performance as a priority, but I would love a card (if possible) without bullshit antennas sticking out of the case, or with external antennas you have to set up on your desk. I will go that route if I have to but man that is an aesthetic nightmare, IMO. The ones that stick out of the back of the case are the worst looking for me just as a caveat.
I just recently purchased a Net Gear wireless router, I am unable to get on the internet unless I have the ethernet connected to my laptop.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOut of no where today, my wireless connection has begun saying "No internet access" and I can't go anywhere online Ever since it began happening, it's been saying that for longer amounts of time. So at first it was only a few seconds, now it's been taking a minute until I re-gain internet access. I haven't installed anything or ran any executables lately, don't have any viruses, I obtain my DNS and IP addresses automatically, and a few minutes ago I installed the newest firmware update of my router and I'm still losing internet. I have a NetGear WNDR3400 router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a netgear MR814 router that is not connecting to the internet. A few days ago my wireless was SO slow that I disconnected and did a powercycle (which usually works when wireless drops off now and then) but then it did not connect to the modem anymore. The ports 1, 4, wireless, and power lights are on but the internet light is off. I know it's not a modem problem because I can hardwire the modem to my laptop and get on internet. I've tried a few things suggested on this forum and elsewhere (maybe I shouldn't have messed with it?) but nothing has worked to resolve the problem. When I am connected to the router I cannot access the routerlogin and the ipconfig/release/renew shows that wireless lan media is disconnected.

Have two other computers that connect with ease to the Netgear wireless router, but the new computer will not access the internet. I have been searching for answers and have tried about everything I can find nuder similar posts, but I still have not internet access. At varying times, I have had "internet access", but no actual ability to load websites. Right now, I do not even have access. I am at a loss.Even at my low level of experience, I am usually able to tinker until I fix the problem, but I am about four hours in and currently seem to have taken a step backward. I cannot even begin to explain what things I have already tried

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently switching from a certain internet provider to another and I'm forced to get another router. What I wanted to do is since the initial router has to be on the first floor, I'd like to have the second one on the top floor closer to my computer whereas they would share a dedicated connection between each other wirelessly so it would make my connection faster rather than just having my pc connect directly wirelessly to the initial router on the first floor. Is that possible?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have IIS running in a machine inside my network and I would like to make is visible to the world wide web.To do that, I created a website in the port 8787, which is accessible when the user types 192.168.0.126:8787 in the browser. Of course it works only when the user is inside my network.(IIS running over windows server 2008 OS)Now I want to make it visible to the WWW, so I created a rule to make a port forwarding to it:I went to: Advanced > Virtual Servers and created a rule with the given information:
enabled
Name: website
private ip: 192.168.0.126
protocol: both
private port: 8787
public port: 8787
Schedule: always
This rule created automatically a firewall rule
Enabled
Alow
Source: WAN *
Destination: LAN 192.168.0.126 Protocol: * Port range:8787
always
Unfortunately it isn't enough, if I type myPublicIp:8787 I can't access the website because I either get "connection reset" error or a timeout.I pluged my computer directly in my modem and it worked perfectly.To make a test, I tried to enable the router remote administration on the port 10001. It didn't work.ps: my wireless router is a dlink di-524, I am writing this in this forum because I couldn't find the one related to my router...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently moved from one city to another, and I still have my same ISP. However, I can't get onto the Internet through my same Netgear router. I can connect to the Internet when directly connected to my modem, and I can ping my router from my laptop wirelessly, but the router won't let me onto the Internet. I tried to modify some settings on the router itself (192.168.1.1), but I think I may have just gotten myself in deeper. It's currently setup for no security, and even with that I still can't get on. I might mention that I can't get on through the wireless router either connected or wireless.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear Router at home, and both my Laptop and Tablet connect to it via WiFi. Now on both the Laptop and Tablet, Internet has recently become VERY slow. I contacted my ISP and they said everything on their side is fine, so it has to be on my side.What can cause this? I've checked for Malware but the fact that both the tablet and Laptop has slow internet points to the router. I also flushed my DNS on my laptop and booted into safemode with networking, internet still ridiculously slow.Note, both the laptop and tablet travel with me and did connect to other networks sometimes.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have read most of the responses to the same type of problem but none of them have got my XP pc to connect to the internet. I am using Wireles and LAN.My router was Netgear DG843N which was intermittently dropping the connection to the net. I tried corrective action but the problem continued.On the advice from Netgear tyech support,I tried just using LAN - that didn't work. Then they suggested using another router,so I purchased a Netgear DGN1000 Router.This did not resiolve the problem so I contacted Netgear who suggested several things to do.As the XP was connecting to the router both wireless and LAN we decided that it was not a router problem.All of my devices attached o the router ( printer - Vista pc- Win 7 laptop)are working correctly,just the XP pc that is not.
Details of the pc are :-
Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
I cant get this to work and maybe it's not possible to even do it. I have 2 laptops one old running XP and one new running 7. I have DSL Sprint modem that works fine when directly wired to either laptop. A friend gave me an old Netgear Wrt54g wireless router he had laying around so I could connect both laptops to the internet. I cannot do this wired or wireless. When I try wired the internet doesn't work. When I try to do it via wireless the new Windows 7 laptop says it isn't compatible. Any way to get this to work either way on both? Or do I need to pick up a new router. Also, I would prefer a wired connection so any recommendations for a wired router that will work with this setup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI live out in the country at the end of a very long copper cable and my internet connection is never great at the best of times. Also live in an old house with thick walls so the family are always complaining about the poor wireless connection.So I bought a new router, netgear DGN3500, which on the whole seemed pretty good out of the box, but now it is randomly dropping the internet connection. Sometimes this is solved by rebooting the router, but just now this didn't do it and only turning it off completely for 30" and turning it back on again gave me back my connection (DownStream Connection Speed 3680 kbps, UpStream Connection Speed 416 kbps - which is as good as it gets on the end of my phone line).
