NetGear WNDR3400 Router - Wireless Keeps Saying No Internet Access?

Feb 18, 2011

Out of no where today, my wireless connection has begun saying "No internet access" and I can't go anywhere online Ever since it began happening, it's been saying that for longer amounts of time. So at first it was only a few seconds, now it's been taking a minute until I re-gain internet access. I haven't installed anything or ran any executables lately, don't have any viruses, I obtain my DNS and IP addresses automatically, and a few minutes ago I installed the newest firmware update of my router and I'm still losing internet. I have a NetGear WNDR3400 router.

Netgear WNDR3400 Wireless Router Settings?

Aug 21, 2011

My 7 month old Netgear wireless router suddenly stopped working

The router's power light will not remain on after powering it up. The only lights that remain on after power-up are the (4) "LAN Port" lights (solid green) and the "Internet" light (solid amber).

The owner's manual states that it's a hardware problem if the power light does not remain on and to call tech support. The tech I spoke too said it's a settings issue that they deal with everyday and not a hardware problem.

One of the things I've tried was using a paper clip to reset the router to it's factory settings. It didn't change anything though. Re-running the setup CD didn't yield any results either. It just stopped in the middle because it said there was no ethernet cable connecting the laptop to the router, even though there was.

By the way... My ISP is Century Link and I use an Actiontec DSL Modem.

Not sure how to modify the router's settings if the network is down.

Netgear WNDR3400 Wireless Router Causes High Ping?

Jan 23, 2011

I recently got a Netgear WNDR3400 Dual Band Wireless Router. When I first installing it everything seemed to run great, download was about 1.5 Mbps and a good ping, 20-70 for gaming. This lasted about a day. While the download does vary due to the service provider, my ping however has suddenly increased to a constant 200-400. This is happening on my Laptop, X-Box 360, and PS3.I have tested both wired and wireless connections from the router and used both the 2.64Ghz and 5Ghz frequency and I still have the same issue. I have then done a wired connection straight into the modem and my ping returns to the 20-70. My Router is less than 3 ft from all systems. I live in a barracks so there are multiple wireless signals floating about. However no one else seems to have any issues with there ping when using a wireless router and there only 1 room above me. I have changed channels on both frequency's, enabled and disabled NAT Filtering, decreased and increased the MTU size within the WAN settings, reset the router to factory defaults, ensured I have the proper firmware, and proper software for my laptop.

Familiar with the WNDR3400 but I purchased it when it first came out only to replace it with my E4200. The WNDR3400 has a "wireless repeater function" and I was wondering if it was in any way compaitable witht he E4200 or does it have to be directly connected to use it as an accesspoint/range extender ?

WNDR3400 - Access External Hard Drive On Router Remotely Over Internet?

May 14, 2012

I'm looking to be able to access (read and write) a networked external hard drive which is connected to a home router - specifically the Netgear WNDR3400, which has a USB port explicitly for this purpose - from outside the network, via the internet. This is for work purposes (specifically for a small business that I design for). Is this doable? I've been using Dropbox but that's proving too problematic as more and more files need to be managed. I would prefer it not be through software that has to be running on a computer, as there is no "machine" running 24/7 here besides the router itself.

WNDR3400 - Unable To Connect To NetGear Router

Jun 2, 2011

I recently purchased and successfully installed a NetGear N600 dual band router (WNDR3400). My desktop has no connection issues. My iPod Touch has no issues connecting to the wireless network. However, my phone (HTC Aria), my work computer (Dell Latitude D630 Win XP) and my brand new HP Slate 500 (Win 7 Pro) cannot connect to the network. The network is discoverable by all the devices but the 3 cannot connect. I removed all security and still was not able to connect.

I reinstalled the router and still not able to connect. I restarted the router and still not able to connect. The Dell did previously connect to unsecured networks in my neighborhood but does not seem to like my newly set-up network. I am most surprised that the Slate is unable to connect to the wireless network. I would think something brand new would like that would not have an issue. If I cannot get my wireless router working properly and my other computers able to connect to it, it makes them all pretty useless.

I have updated my wireless drivers to the absolute newest ones. My issue is that my laptop cannot even see the 5 GHz SSID. I was under the impression that any N enabled device would be able to communicate on the 5 GHz network.

Netgear WNDR3400 - Turning Blue Light Off?

May 16, 2011

I purchased this router, and in reading reviews several people complained how bright the blue "dome light" is. They also pointed out that in the manual there is a way to turn it off. I would like to turn it off, and I have read the manual virtually "cover to cover" (I am after all reading it on my computer), but I did not find any information about this.

Netgear WNDR3400 Ports Only Forwarding For Network?

May 16, 2011

Now my problem refers to the game Minecraft specifically, but I believe it has more to do with the router than the game, so that's why I am posting on here. To let people connect to your Minecraft server, you need to set a static IP and forward the port 25565. I have followed all of the tutorials for that on this site to the letter, and yet all I can do is make people in my network able to connect. Now before you say this has nothing to do with you guys, I also want to point out that the port checker tool says that port is closed, on both UDP and TCP. For some reason following these guides only opens my port to the network that connects through the router, either wirelessly or wired. So therefore any port checking tools or sites say that it is closed. I have checked my firewalls, turned them off, uninstalled them and that doesn't work. And no, people can't connect through the network unless I forward the ports, so I am actually doing something when I try to forward them. I am running Windows Vista x64-bit

WNDR3400 Router - Internet Randomly Dropping For An Instant

May 30, 2012

I have my ethernet cable hooked up to a WNDR3400 router, and my internet connection will drop for an instant randomly (usually happens at least once every 5 minutes) it then instantly reconnects. The problem is that when i'm downloading stuff, the disconnection will cause the download to fail and i'll have to restart from the beginning (making larger files impossible to download). Also, I have an xbox in the same room connected to the router via wireless. It also has the same issues of dropping and reconnecting and that causes me to get kicked out of live.Interestingly enough, my laptop, connected to the internet via wireless does not experience this issue when used in (or outside of) the room.

WNDR3400 Windows Service Can't Access Files On XP Home Network

If I run the program through Visual Studio, it works. If I run that same exact code as a Windows service, it fails.

My internet browsing became very very slow. When i shutdown the one machine it become fast again. I did the following. Pulled the LAN cable and it was still slow. I then put the cable back and disabled the Wi-Fi and it still was very slow. I rested the defaults and restored my old backup and it still slow. Now I can get any access to the internet any more. I the disconnected the netgear router and take a cheap router with only LAN ports and it work 100%. All the above i did with many router and server reboots.

Wndr3400 - Dell XP Laptop Won't Connect To Router

Apr 29, 2012

Im trying to get an old Dell XP laptop (g wireless adapter) working with my new Net gear (wndr3400) dual band router and hit a wall. No problems on my tower. No problems with a newer Dell laptop with an adapter or a grandsons iPhone using the guest SSID. No problems with the TV on the 5.0G side of dual band router using same passphrase key. I see the router/SSID I want but cannot connect. I do not get a prompt for the passphrase/WEP key. I tried to follow instructions from a MS site that seemed to cover my exact problem but the behavior of the Wireless Network display does not follow the script.

Heres what I do:

1.Right click Wireless Network Connection icon bottom right of screen

2.Select View Available Wireless Network Connections

3.Locate desired SSID/router with 5 bars (from router) and double click. Reads this network requires a network key. It should because I assigned one. 9 ascii, 2 numeric 11 chars total-WPA2-FSK (AES)

4.Click Connect in bottom right of window

5.Entry for the desired router now says validating identity and a pop up box bottom right says windows was unable to find a certificate to log you into the network xxxx where xxx is my SSID.

6.This will sit there saying validating identity for 2-3 hrs with no results.

7.There was never a prompt for Passphrase /WEP key!

If I open up Wireless Network Connections display and select Properties then Wireless Networks tab, select my router connection (only one there) then properties, it shows WEP but network key fields are grayed out. A little bit earlier they were not and I could enter the 11char key but it rejected it as too short. I used to use this laptop for years with an older Lynksys g router.

Netgear WGT624v3 / Cannot Access The Internet

Sep 4, 2011

yesterday I had switched between my two wireless routers, I went from my Linksys WRTU54G-TM back to my Netgear WGT624v3 because I read that the Netgear provided better range and a bit better speed. I understand that this could be the problem but when I tried to swap out to the Linksys, during the setup, it claims that I have no running internet. The modem is fine, I hooked it straight to my laptop AND my desktop. Now the problem is, I have my desktop and my Xbox 360 connected into the LAN ports, I can connect with my phone and my iTouch wirelessly. My laptop I'm afraid will connect but will not associate with the internet and therefore I cannot access the internet. The Router is a G router and the laptop has a standard wireless g adapter built in.

New Netgear WNDR3700 Cannot Access Internet

Mar 3, 2012

My old router (a dlink dir-615) works just fine, but I figured I would upgrade and try to run OpenWRT or DD-WRT so that I could have one VPN for all my devices.

Anyway, I took the router out and followed the instructions (power off modem for at least 1 minute, connect modem to router, router to computer via ethernet, turn on modem first, wait for it to fully boot up, turn on router, wait for it to fully boot up, and then run the setup on routerlogin.net. The router is currently setup and I can connect my computer or iphone to it just fine, but I cannot access the internet. It doesn't make a difference whether I'm connected via ethernet or wifi. Either way, I get a "No Internet Access" message from Windows 7.

I've tried turning everything off and starting again. No luck. When I go back to my dlink router, everything works fine again.

So, in short:
Modem + ethernet = internet
Modem + Netgear router + ethernet = no internet
Modem + Netgear router + wifi = no internet
Modem + Dlink router (wifi...haven't tried ethernet) = internet
