I have AG241v2 LinkSys router. my problem is when I had started to download anything, I found that no internet connection so I couldn't make internet browsing or any other activity. This problem is also occurred when more than one user connect to the internet, the others can't make browsing. I made firmware upgrade but still the problem occurred.
View 6 RepliesI need to replace a failing AG241v2 and I am going to use a WAG160N.I problem is I notice there are two versions of WAG160N, v1 has a RJ45 port for the DSL and v2 a RJ11 port.AG241v2 has a RJ45 so the cable I was using was a Ethernet cable.Now this cable doesn't fit, of course it is bigger, I tried with a RJ11 cable but DSL light doesn't show up, it looks like it is not receiving any signal.Is there any adaptor or any cable to use WAG160Nv2 or should I replace it with a WAG160v1?
I found in several web stores when they talk about WAG160Nv1 they use the code WAG160N-E1 and for the WAG160N-v2 they use the code WAG160N-EW. Can they make it more difficult??
Every time I connect my router, I can't use the internet browsers. But I can see there's a internet connection. Bu once in a while even with just a modem connected to my computer I can't use the browsers. The signal from the router to my Xbox 360 works but sometimes it says there's DNS Error or IP Address Error causing my Nat to be strict. View 2 Replies View RelatedLast week I purchased the E4200 and for simplicity, I configured it with basic settings using Cisco Connect. Today, I went into the web interface. The only thing I did was review settings and get the Routers PIN (it appears that Intel Chipset cards on Windows requires this PIN?) Close the browser (did not save any settings) and now I am completely locked out of the device. Cannot connect does not accept the wireless password. I hard reset the device, ran through the wizard. Everything was working again. Launch the browser and connected to the device closing window and balm?

We run a application through a provider which requires that we view it from the same IP address for access. We have a statis IP assigned by our ISP solely for this purpose. For simplicity, lets us 23.11.23.176 as the statis assigned by our ISP and 23.11.23.175 as the gateway also assigned by our ISP. The application we need to browse requires that we use the 23.11.23.175 address else it is blocked from viewing. When we hard line into the modem, we are able to browse it fine. When I connect the CISCO router and do it wirelessly, it shows our address as 23.11.23.176 what are the required steps in order to set the CISCO router to use the Gateway address as the browsing IP for computers connected to it. We had set it up about a year ago, and i completely forgot how.

I followed the procedure on Configuring Cisco Devices to Use a Syslog Server from [URL] Our Cisco swtches are all sending syslog messages but not the routers. My network is on a 101.140.228.x ip scheme because that's what the wireless network is set too and we can't change that. (It's built into the hub and the manufacturer doesn't let us change it. The computer I am having trouble with is cabled into a Netgear Access Point in client mode. The Access Point is working basically like an oversized network card to pick up the wireless network across the field with the 101.140.x.x ip.

However, I can access the internet and the router by way of another (older) desktop and two laptops.This problem occurred after powering down and unplugging both desktops before a thunder storm. Later that night I powered on and had this issue. ISP didn't have any outages in the area. When viewing the status of that local network connection packets are being sent but 0 are received. TCP/IPv4 and 6 Properties are set to obtain IP/DNS automatically.I don't have any additional firewall software but windows firewall is enabled.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer is a inspiron 17r and is only a month old. for the last week or 2, it has been disconnecting from the internet while at home. The computer says it has an internet connection and is discoverable on the LAN, but will not connect to the internet for browsing, email or any other internet activity. I can restore the internet by rebooting the computer, or by rebooting the router and modem, or by deleting the network and re-establishing it through the network sharing center. Any of these will work, but somewhere between 1 minute and several hours, I will again lose the internet. I have several other computers and devices and none of them lose the internet so I know the router and the modem are fine. This also ONLY happens at home. I take the computer to work and connect with no problems and stay connected for 9 or 10 hours.
I have looked for answers and have tried ip release and winsock resets. these also work for a period of time but eventually fail as well.
I am currently having problems connecting to my apartment internet through my Linksys E900 router. This problem occurred at random as well, I went to bed one night and I was connected with zero problems and when I woke up it no longer worked. It has been like this for a week now and I feel like I've tried everything, including buying a new Netgear router which didnt work either.Some basic info:
- Router is a Linksys E900
- My apartment complex provides free internet through Pavlov Media
- I can connect to the unsecured Pavlov wireless with no problem
- Before it stopped working, I had simply set up the router by plugging it into a wall ethernet jack and running the setup disc. This no longer works, it will set up the network but then I receive an error stating it is unable to connect to the internet.
I followed the directions at least 6 times and I still had no internet connection. Is this because I have Windows 8 and all directions are for windows 7? I finally gave up and hooked back up our 6 year old belkin wi fi router. Had internet access in 1 minute. I bought this wi fi router was because Amazon described it as simple, quick, automatically does the work of hooking it up for you. Takes less than 5 minutes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I picked up a laptop of a friend of mine which had some problems with the Internet connectivity. Turns out, Internet only works when booted in Safe Mode, however, it does ping in Normal Mode so there is connectivity. Tried IE and Firefox, both do not work in Normal Mode and do work in Safe Mode. MSN Messenger won't work in Normal Mode either. After carefully checking the Windows event logs, it looks like some services are not booted in normal mode.I have executed the following steps and measures in order for me to see if I would be able to fix the problem myself.
1) Boot in Normal Mode:
- Checked the settings of the adapter, no exclamation marks or other problems.
- Installed Revo Uninstaller Pro > Uninstalled all present antivirus program
- Installed Microsoft Security Essentials
- Ran a Full scan with Microsoft Securty Essentials; 1 virus > removed (just a virus which gives pop-ups)
- Installed CC Cleaner, cleaned the whole system
- Shut off all antivirus programs, IE and Firefox still not working.
2) Looked for extra information:cmd > Ipconfig/all Normal Mode [code]
So,I'm living in a university campus and I've got an internet connection via a proxy server.The thing is,when ever I plug in the network cable,my PC recognizes the network,but the little network tray says "No internet access". But the curious thing is that the internet actualy works.My browser works,I can access any website (well,except the restricted ones via proxy) but it works just like any other internet connection in the campus. But,recently I've got my hands on a VPN account to have access to things that my proxy wouldn't allow me (torrents for example).But,probably because of that "No internet access" problem,when ever I try to make that VPN account,it tells me that I need to connect to the internet first. I already am,but my PC still keeps requiring an internet connection.I can't manualy connect to it,since I don't have the ISP data required. I've only got my VPN account data (VPN username and password).
This is kind of annoying,since this only happens to me,my other room mates don't have this problem,they plug in their cables,their network adapters recognize both the network and the internet access. Only mine says "No internet access" but the internet works fine.My operating system is genuine,when ever I go home and connect to my home network this problem doesn't ocure anymore,this only happens when I connect to my university's internet connection.I've tried reinstalling my operating system.Still no results.I'll attach a printscreen so you could see exactly what I mean.
my internet is being slow. It 'uplink' speed is 7mbps. when downloading or just surfing the internet 'task manager' says that the computer is using below 5% of the internet's speed capasity. it never gets higher than this, is there any way to change this so that i can us the full potential of the internets speed.

-Initially I couldn't connect at all with this machine (however the other two newer laptops could) so I contacted the Linksys tech and he advised I should upgrade my laptop driver
-After much research about this I found a common fix was to upgraded drivers from the 2004 sony driver to atheros_wifi_9.2.0.480 drivers.
-After I did the upgrade I can connect to the router on the guest account and use the internet

Lately when I turn on one of my computers, or attempt to connect with my Motorola Xoom tablet it will show connected but I will not have internet access. Initially it will show that I have internet access but not work, then after about 1-2 minutes my PCs will show "No Internet access" for about 2-3 minutes, then it will show "Internet Acess" again and still not load. After that, in about 1-3 minutes the internet will start working and work as good as ever until I disconnect (manually or by turning off my computer) then connect again; the process described avove happens again.

I have tried all the hard resets and other tricks. I can go straight from my internet connection to my computer and it works fine. Once I go through the router using a lan cord all I get is limited or no connectivity. I have tried to access the router set up using the 192.68. etc but can't just states invalid address. I am not able to connect to the internet through Linksys Wireless Router. I have tried pinging the default gateway of the ISP provided router IP from the router utility, "Diagnostic", but I am not able to ping it.
For some reason my wireless router recognized my pc, or my modem, Neither is it able to connect to the internet. All the lights are on but not flashing/blinking like they used to. I tried to run the setup over and it couldn't find the router even though everything was plugged correctly. I tried reseting the router but that doesn't even affect it. All the lights remain on with on blinking or flashing no mater what I do. Is there anyway for my router to work normal again or do I need to get a ned wireless router?
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy BEFSR81 router has never been a problem for over 10 years.All of a sudden I can not connect to the internet..I only use the router for connecting 2 PCs to the internet modem. I have not changed any configuration. tried my IPS COX recommendation to disconnect the power for about 1 minute then try again with no luck. CoX said they tried pinging my router but could not get a reading. While waiting for them to come up with a solution, I hooked one of my PCs directly to the modem. It worked. So I tried it with the other PC. But it didn't work right away. It kept trying to dial up for a connection. I finally got the WIZARD to get it configured correctly. I assume it must be a router problem because either one of my PCs can get an internet connection when hooked to the modem. I did not pusue any further with COX, THEIR AUTOMATED TROUBLE SHOOTER WAS GETTING ON MY NERVES.Should I take the time to resolve the issue with the router or buy a new or refurbished router? If the task isn't too complicatged, I am willing to try and fix it.
