I have a few devices I cannot connect to my router or modem but my ps3 and 2 xboxes are connected. I have easy link and I try to add devices to it but it doesn't show me the same options it did before when I added my ps3, and ipod. Now I can't connect my psp or any phone to it, I have the WRT54GS v7.2, those are my only problems with the router nothing.

All of a sudden i cant connect to the internet through it at all. when i diconnect it and hook my desktop directly to the modem it works but i need the wireless to use my laptop. I have tried everything to get it working again, no dice. when using w7 diag tool it reports back local area connection doesnt have a valid ip config.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI intend to connect a network built around the WRT54GS to Internet by passing through a second network who is already connected to Internet through the Orange Livebox-2 (French).I have a traditional home network with basic shares on the French Orange Livebox-2 and its WiFi.The computers runs XP - Pro .My ADSL access is normally through the Livebox-2 (Range of addresses 192.168.1.xxx) and I run DHCP Working Group "WORKGROUP".It works without problem (Internet and VoIP telephony) except the Wifi of the Livebox which is known as poor (range and stability).I also manages a small "pedagogical workshop" for the school who visit my mill.This network is available to my young visitors based on a (tower) server containing the libraries and teaching materials and its printer. It’s XP - Pro machine. and to allow a maximum of two laptops be WiFi connected.The second network is built around the Linksys router (wich integrates no modem, simply a router).The WRT54GS router (rev 6) whose firmware is original Linksys up to date.I am setting the two Wi-Fi (Livebox 6 Cnl) and Cnl 4 on WRT54GS and different keys (this is manageable without difficulty).It has its server DHCP and Wi-Fi to connect their machine.What about the name of this second network group ? Currently “WORKGROUP” as well.I am setting a range different on the router WRT54GS (192.168.2.xxx) and enabled the DHCP.This "educational" network works perfectly when alone and separated from the "home" network and doesn’t get connected to Internet…I want to connect this router Linksys WRT54GS rev6 cascading through the Livebox-2. I've tried using the setup CD and doing a manual setup, but no internet connection is detected. I must confess to being a total wireless router newbie, this is my first one, so I am stumped as what to do next. I've looked at the FAQ's and through the forum as well, but I just don't know what might apply to my situation and as I am not very well versed in the terminology, I tend to get lost.
I've been using a Linksys WRT54GSV4 router since November 2005, and have rarely had any problems with it. Now today after the power went out, devices cannot connect to the internet.My PC connected directly to the cable modem results in internet connectivity.My PC connected to the router allows router access through 192.168.1.1.My PC connected to the router can NOT access the internet or otherwise get out to the modem.WiFi devices in the house cannot connect to the internet, but can still access the router through 192.168.1.1.Swapping cables results in the same behavior, so the PC can connect to the modem with either cable, and the computer can connect to the router with either cable.

If I connect my computer directly to my modem, I can access the internet, but if I try to connect through the modem, all I get is "DNS server not responding".I've tried changing the DNS server address on the router configuration page, but it doesn't work.

I am trying to recover a WRT54GS v1 router from a bad flash. The power light is blinking and would not accept pings. Since I figured it was already hopeless, I attempted shorting pin 15 and 16 which cause it to start receiveing pings. My problem is it won't accept the tftp flash, I've tried both cmd prompt and auto upgrade utility. Upgrade utility says "Unable to get response from the server" however it is still accepting pings. Cmd prompt TFTP says it can't read from local file. I am using windows XP. Code...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1. Both have latest firmware on them. I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address. is that right?). I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses. They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2. I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet. I cannot get an ip address from the access point. I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet. Am I missing something in the setup? Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs linsys router with speedbooster. I bought my son a tablet for xmas. I cannot connect the tablet to the network. It finds my network, searches for an IP address, and then disconnects. It will connect for about 2 seconds, and then shows disconnected. My PC's, and WII work fine, although getting the WII ad netflix to reconnect after a power outage is like rocket science requiring field support every time. My tablet wont stay connected, and the book tells me that the router must accept 802.11b/g, and that if it has 802.11n, then it needs to be reconfigured to accept 802.11b/g.

Without the switch, I can connect wired and wirelessly to my WRT54GS. However, when I put connect my any port of my D link switch to ports 1 - 5 of WRT54GS, I loose internet all together either wired/wireless to the router or wired to the D-link switch.I wonder why the IP Address will change as I understand that the switch is just a pass through switch.

My current setup has my DSL modem connected to the FVS318 to provide my network computer with wired internet access. Can I simply connect the WRT54GS to the FVS318 using the LAN port? I've read other threads that mentioned changing the WRT ip address to 192.168.0.150 and disabling DHCP. i've don'e both, but I still don't get wireless access. My wireless devices can connect, but they don't have internet access. I have some questions below:
1. In the WRT setup, what do I use for the Internet connection type? Since my Netgear has that information already, do I need to put anything here?
2. In Setup -> Advanced Routing, do I neet to change the operating mode to Router?

I currently have an E1000 connected to my cable modem in my living room. It provides wireless access to my whole household.
I have a set of computers I want to have set up as a lab on their own router and have a WRT54GS available for me to modify.
The WRT is in the dining room (office) and the cable modem/E1000 are about 45 feet away.
I want to set up the wireless environment on the E1000 as 192.168.1.1-24 and the wired network as 192.168.2.1-24 with the wired network being able to wirelessly connect to the wired so all the machines in the house can see my server and other machines.
My WRT54GS worked perfectly till 3days .. everything works perfectly it just that i cannot get connection to itunes store neither over wifi or on my pc .. when i disconnected my router and connect my pc directly to the modem .

-Initially I couldn't connect at all with this machine (however the other two newer laptops could) so I contacted the Linksys tech and he advised I should upgrade my laptop driver
-After much research about this I found a common fix was to upgraded drivers from the 2004 sony driver to atheros_wifi_9.2.0.480 drivers.
-After I did the upgrade I can connect to the router on the guest account and use the internet

I have had this router with no real problems for the past 2 years. As of now I can't connect to the internet through the router wired or wirelessly. I have tried all the hard resets and other tricks. I can go straight from my internet connection to my computer and it works fine. Once I go through the router using a lan cord all I get is limited or no connectivity. I have tried to access the router set up using the 192.68. etc but can't just states invalid address. Anything else to try or is this thing bricked ?

I am not able to connect to the internet through Linksys Wireless Router. I have tried pinging the default gateway of the ISP provided router IP from the router utility, "Diagnostic", but I am not able to ping it.
For some reason my wireless router recognized my pc, or my modem, Neither is it able to connect to the internet. All the lights are on but not flashing/blinking like they used to. I tried to run the setup over and it couldn't find the router even though everything was plugged correctly. I tried reseting the router but that doesn't even affect it. All the lights remain on with on blinking or flashing no mater what I do. Is there anyway for my router to work normal again or do I need to get a ned wireless router?

The router is connected via cable to the main computer and there are two other computers in the home that are/were used with it. However I noticed that whenever I looked into the available networks in the 'sub' computers it was described as 'unsecured'. I therefore went into the Router [via 192.168.1.1] and amended some settings... forget what they were set at however I changed it to WEP and now shows up as 'secured'.

During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've looked through the forums and FAQs and haven't seen anything that resolves my issue. I recently moved from the US to Japan. I had my WRT54GS set up in the States and the network worked fine. When i got here, i set it up, hard reset the router and set up a new network.
I can access the internet when connected through the router via ethernet cable, but I cannot connect any of my wireless devices. Easy Link Advisor says "internet connection is not working" but it is. I have two computers connected via cable and they both work so it is not an issue of my ISP allowing multiple IP addresses.
My wireless devices (XBox, PS3, laptop) can see the network but cannot connect through to the internet. I also just noticed that the "wireless mode" according to the EasyLink Advisor says "disable", however the wireless settings on my 192. server webpage is set to "mixed" and seems to be correct in all settings to be on.
I have a WRT54GS which works fine with Linux both from both wired and wireless computers using Linux. But I reinstalled Win XP and now I can't reestablish a connection following the EasyLink advisor. I did have a connection under Win XP before.
The last instruction on the Easylink advisor tells me to look for something marked "local" I don't find that word on the screen.
