I just bought a Linksys E1500 router and followed the CD instructions for setup. It is wired to my desktop and I am unable to access the internet. If I go direct to the modem and bypass the router the internet works fine
View 3 RepliesI followed the directions at least 6 times and I still had no internet connection. Is this because I have Windows 8 and all directions are for windows 7? I finally gave up and hooked back up our 6 year old belkin wi fi router. Had internet access in 1 minute. I bought this wi fi router was because Amazon described it as simple, quick, automatically does the work of hooking it up for you. Takes less than 5 minutes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router. When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems. After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on. No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem. After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router. I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable. Any changes to the router settings since installation.I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software. After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not. So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router. I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.

I realized non of my wireless devices could detect the network, so I got on my PC which is hard wired to the router and it to says it had no network connection. So I power cycled both the router and the modem. When it came back up, this PC that I am typing from now has an internet connection but is says it is connected to Network 2 instead of the routers name for the network. My other PC that is hard wired to the router says its not connected to the network, and when I open up the Cisco Connect software it tells me my router is not plugged in. Also, nothing works wirelessly.In the web control panel it still has all my setting intact but still looks like its not connected to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been researching this for a day now and have just confused myself further. Long story short, I just picked up an EA4500 and there's still a dead area in the house. I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other. After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers. I just have a few additional questions that the articles and walkthroughs I've read through didn't seem to address.
I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band. When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them? Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500? Or can these all be left to Auto?Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?
I just purchased an E1500 router to create a wireless connection. I had been using an older Cisco model previously.
I can't get it to connect. I have tried everything that is written in the support articles. In particular, I followed the article 3686, about setting up a router with cable internet modem, after the Cisco Connect didn't create the connection automatically.When I plug the laptop directly into my modem, I have a connection. I have reset the modem and the router several times in the process. I've been to the web-based setup page and followed all of the instructions about cloning the MAC. When I hit the release and renew IP addresses (under the Status tab), nothing happened. They remained 0.0.0.0
Called my ISP, but they say it's a router issue.I think I'm going to start from scratch--uninstalling the Cisco Connect, reinstalling it, turning everything off and back on again to see if it somehow will work automatically.
I have a E1500 hooked to a Galaxy Broadband/Hughes Satellite internet system. From the router I have gone to a EZXS55W ver. 4 switch. Off of the switch I have 2 computers and a PoS machine. The satellite system gives us a dynamic IP. I am noticing that my connection from computer to computer and also from them and the POS machine to the internet is constantly switching on and off, it seems. Any ideas what could be causing this issue?? We just recently went from a Static IP to the Dynamic IP. We did not have this issue with the Static IP and wondering if there are some settings I have neglected.

The gateway it should be is that of the ADSL Modem (192.168. 1. 254).If I choose "Bridge Mode" I can't even enable DHCP.Is there a way I can use the DHCP server?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my old Linksys wrt54g to the E1500. All the XP os are connected via cable and wireless connection, but the Vista laptop i get local access only connection error. This laptop used to connect on the older router using wep but with E1500 wpa-2 it cannot connect. I am unable to ping the router from the laptop wireless. Connecting ethernet cable it works fine and logging in as a guest works does too.

One is running at 18Mbps, the other two at 0.4Mbps. the internet setting are the same and the security is the same (WPA2-Personal with AES encryption). One of the slow computers is brand new and WAY faster than my "fast internet" computer. The other is about the same as the "fast internet" computer. I updated the I connected the new computer to the router tusing an ethernet cable and it had superfast internet. I redid the Cisco connect on each computer, but it didnt change anything. Why is it so slow wirelessly?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI set up the e1500 and everything worked well, my download speed over the wifi was something like 50mps, now its down to .3 mps over the wifi. When I'm hardwired to the router the speed goes back up and everything is fine. The only problem is the wifi. Its not the ISP because my roommates aren't having a problem with their wifi at all. I haven't changed anything on my computer except updated some drivers since I set up the router. My network card drivers are up to date and so is the router's drivers. I'm also doing all this about 5 feet away from the router.

When the laptop has gone into standby and comes back out it is not connected to the internet or the 'secured side' of teh router. Instead, it asks for the 'guest side' password. When I try running Wireless Manager it goes through the entire process of 're-mating' adapter and router. That can't be right.How do I fix this so the system comes out of standby in the 'secured side' of the router?
Purchased the E1500, updated the firmware and have excellent wireless connectivity. The problem occurs when I connect for a video chat the internet disconnects and then reconnects.

I followed the set-up instructions to the T but to no avail. I cannot find anything online about these two devices being incompatable. Do I purchase a new modem? Lately when I turn on one of my computers, or attempt to connect with my Motorola Xoom tablet it will show connected but I will not have internet access. Initially it will show that I have internet access but not work, then after about 1-2 minutes my PCs will show "No Internet access" for about 2-3 minutes, then it will show "Internet Acess" again and still not load. After that, in about 1-3 minutes the internet will start working and work as good as ever until I disconnect (manually or by turning off my computer) then connect again; the process described avove happens again.

However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. Currently, I have an e4200 primary router that is cascaded with two additional e1500 routers that have been configured as access points. The Linksys support team hosted my computer and configured the devices. The e1500 routers are connected via ethernet wires running through the walls. And, this seems to be working well. Here's my question. The e1500 routers are configured with different SSID names, which Linksys advised was required to avoid conflicts in communications from the three router devices. Is there any way to configure this set up or something similar so that the entire wireless network has the same SSID and is seamless. In the current configuration, I have to specifically connect to the primary router or one of the two access points.

I set up everything without a hitch but when I try to use Wireless-N mode only, none of my computers can connect to the router and all my computers use N cards. I'm stuck on using Mixed Mode which limits my speed to G speeds. I didn't purchase this to be a G router but an N router and it seems N mode has issues. I am on the current firmware.

I tried logging into the internet and my WIRED computer would not connect. My wifes WIRED computer next to mine didn't have any trouble connecting. Resetting my computer didn't work. I had to cycle the router by unplugging it! Then today, my (2) kids are using Pandora on their (2) computers wirelessly, and same set up with my wifes computer and mine, and again only my computer looses access from the router and all other computers stay connected.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.

What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?
I have my internet coming into my WAG120N and going out wirelessly. I want to setup a wireless bridge between this and an E1500, so I can connect my TV to the E1500 (via an ethernet cable) and have it access the internet. Unfortunatly I can run a cable from the WAG120N to where the TV is. So it I can get the E1500 wirelessly bridged to the WAG120N? I have updated the firmware ont he E1500 to get Bridging support, but from what I can tell it only provides bridging via an ethernet cable. Is there away to bridge wirelessly?

There are 3 computers that connect wirelessly: a 8-year-old desktop with a Netgear USB adapter, a 1.5 year old laptop and a 3.5 year old netbook, both with internal wireless cards. The desktop and netbook are running Windows XP and the laptop runs WIndows 7.
The desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7) are able to connect with no problem. However, the netbook (XP) is having problems connecting. It is able to connect to the router using the WPA2 key, and says it has excellent signal. However, when I start up an internet browser, it gives me a DNS error for any page I try to access. Connecting directly to the router with a cable works fine.
I got on the phone with Linksys support. They told me the problem was that the computer wouldn't use WPA2, but when I switched to WEP, it didn't work at all! I switched back to WPA2 and have the same problem as before: it connects to the network but DNS error messages for any website I try to access (And I've tried both Chrome and Explorer).
To make things more interesting, I set up a guest network on the router, and the netbook connects fine through that so far!
Which one have the best range ? I know that the E1500 has SpeedBoost feature but does it matter ? I can get both for the same price.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an E1500 N300 Router, I've had it for 3 or 4 weeks now. Ever since I've had it, I can no longer send e-mails out with Eudora nor Outlook. I've tried using about 3 different SMTP's just to verify that it wasn't a server issue. I tried Port Forwarding in the router settings. I selected SMTP and POP3 and checked Enable on both, then save changes. But they don't appear to be taking, as when I go back in and try to set them again, it let's me and doesn't give me a Port Overlap warning. I've been told that I shouldn't need to mess with Port Forwarding at all, I just need to go into the Firewall settings and open up the SMTP, POP3, and IMAP ports. However, I don't see any settings in my Router settings to allow this, aside from Port Forwarding and it's not actually saving the changes. I will admit, I'm not all that great with this stuff, and this is the first time I've had any issues with a Router stopping me from E-mailing.
