I just purchased a new linksys e1500 and followed the steps on the cd to set it up.  I have internet access on my windows 7 laptop and iphone however, I have "local access only" on the two laptops we have running vista.  The router is working fine for the windows 7 machine and the iphone but I cannot connect to the internet on the two vista machines.

Home Network :: Local Access Only On Vista Laptop?

Nov 13, 2012

Local Access Only on Vista PC

I restored an old Vista laptop to out-of-the-box state to give to my Dad. This laptop had a wireless connection to the internet and network previously. After the restore, I can't get a connection to the internet, even though my router sees it and it has an ip address. It says Unidentified Network Local Access only, and it doesn't see any of the computers on the network. Sometimes the other computers see it but can't connect, sometimes, the other computers don't see it. I hate Vista.

Stats on Laptop:
Toshiba A215-S4747
Atheros AR5007EG

All my other eight devices have an internet connection no problem, but I powered off the modem and router a couple of times with no change. I tried updating the Atheros to the latest driver on Toshiba's website for this model, but it doesn't seem to take. If I uninstall the old drivers, Windows rudely just immediately reinstalls them again. If I just update the driver, and pick the new file, the driver version remains the same as the previous driver. I'm banging my head on the wall with the driver

Ping successful on:
192.168.1.11 (the laptop's IP address)
localhost

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 - Laptop Not Connected To Internet After Standby Mode

Jan 31, 2013

I am having a problem with an adapter, but I don't know if it's a router issue, adapter issue or software issue.

Router: E1500
Adapter: WUSB100
OS: Win XP Pro SP3
System: Dell Inspiron 9400

When the laptop has gone into standby and comes back out it is not connected to the internet or the 'secured side' of teh router. Instead, it asks for the 'guest side' password. When I try running Wireless Manager it goes through the entire process of 're-mating' adapter and router. That can't be right. How do I fix this so the system comes out of standby in the 'secured side' of the router?

I have some issue with internet connection and Router WRT54G. There is always "Local Connection" but no internet access. I checked that at two different laptops. One with Windows Vista and the other one with Windows XP. Both the same problem. There is a wireless connection with excellent signal strength but no internet access. I added a screen shut to see the Router setting. If more needed I will add more.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Internet Connection On / Off

May 5, 2012

I have a E1500 hooked to a Galaxy Broadband/Hughes Satellite internet system.  From the router I have gone to a EZXS55W ver. 4 switch.  Off of the switch I have 2 computers and a PoS machine.  The satellite system gives us a dynamic IP.  I am noticing that my connection from computer to computer and also from them and the POS machine to the internet is constantly switching on and off, it seems.  Any ideas what could be causing this issue??  We just recently went from a Static IP to the Dynamic IP.  We did not have this issue with the Static IP and wondering if there are some settings I have neglected.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Internet Connection For Downloading Using E1500

Sep 29, 2011

I set up the e1500 and everything worked well, my download speed over the wifi was something like 50mps, now its down to .3 mps over the wifi.  When I'm hardwired to the router the speed goes back up and everything is fine.  The only problem is the wifi. Its not the ISP because my roommates aren't having a problem with their wifi at all.  I haven't changed anything on my computer except updated some drivers since I set up the router.  My network card drivers are up to date and so is the router's drivers.  I'm also doing all this about 5 feet away from the router.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Looses Connection To Android Devices

Apr 20, 2013

Updated firmware was installed and settings were reviewed. Intermittently the E1500 looses its ability to connect only to our Android devices and "Cisco Connect" displays that it has lost Internet connectivity.  The PC hard-wired to the E1500 and another PC connected wirelessly both work fine when this happens, despite the Cisco Connect message.  The Android devices show the presence of the network, but they never "connect" - find the IP address.  The problem can only be resolved by re-booting (powering off/on) the E1500. The loss of connectivity to our two Android devices and the Cisco Connect error display always are concurrent. E1500 looses connection to Android devices

Linksys Wireless Router :: New EA4500 And Using E1500 As Access Point?

Apr 24, 2012

I've been researching this for a day now and have just confused myself further.  Long story short, I just picked up an EA4500 and there's still a dead area in the house.  I already have one ethernet cable that's being used which runs from the one side of the house to the other.  After researching this, I believe I can set up the E1500 as an Access Point to further the range of the wireless signal via the ethernet cable and 2 routers.  I just have a few additional questions that the articles and walkthroughs I've read through didn't seem to address.

I set up the EA4500 and have 2 SSID's, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz band.  When I set the SSID on the E1500, should I use the 2.4Ghz SSID from the EA4500 or should I reset the EA4500 to factory defaults and only use the 1 SSID instead of splitting them?  Or, should I use a totally different SSID altogether on the E1500?I think from what I read, you should use different channels for each router; does it matter which ones you use as there's not that much traffic in my area and do I need to change the channel on both bands of the EA4500?  Or can these all be left to Auto? Can you still use the ethernet ports on the AP/E1500 or are they rendered useless if you set it up in this mode?

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless :: TL-WR841N And Vista Local Only Access?

Hardware Version : V8
Firmware Version : 3.13.27 Build 121101 Rel.38183n
ISP : Virgin Media

I have recently purchased and installed a TL-WR841N wireless router to replace an older system. After following all of the quick install guide and the like I got it set up and working correctly both wired and wireless. However one laptop in the household, an Acer Aspire 5315 running Windows Vista 32bit, does not connect. Using an ethernet cable works fine but the wireless signal is seen and appears to connect but does not find the internet and states Local Only Access. When connected wirelessly I also cannot ping the device but when connected with a cable I can and get a good return. The firmware is up to date on the router and the latop is full up to date with drivers and windows updates.

Linksys Wireless Router - E1500 :: Unable To Access Certain Websites And Game Servers?

Feb 17, 2013

I've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router.  When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems.  After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on.  No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem. After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router. I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable. Any changes to the router settings since installation.I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software.  After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not. So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router. I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - Local Connectivity Error

Sep 16, 2012

I have gone into the router itself at 192.168.1.1, changed settings, reset settings, upgraded firmware to 1.0.04, and / or whatever else was posted by other users. I have also changed my settings for my lappy's networking adapter, re-edited my IP, removed / reinstalled network adapter, and / or whatever else I found to try to do. I am frustrated and upset that a wireless problem is giving me so much headache.I am running Vista 32 Home Premium, HP Pavillion dv6700 Notebook, with a Cisco Linksys E2000 Wireless N Router. I have connected a desktop via wireless USB adapter, my android phone, my GF's android phone, her kids iTouch and phones, and when I try to connect via wirelessly to the router, I get local access only with an unidentifiable network, which then limits my access online, (I cannot connect to the internet). It will let me get online via ethernet cable, but not wirelessly. I have bypassed the router and connected directly to the modem without any problems. I have reset the modem and router many times, as well as rebooted my laptop a lot trying to gain some connection. My laptop can connect to other wireless hotspots / access points without any problems.
