I am running on Windows Vista and out of no where I cannot connect to my network %70 of the time. When I can connect I have local access and a full bar signal but no Internet access. But when I have internet access every page takes forever to load (if it even loads). I tried reinstalling my drivers and even hanged some registry stuff. My wireless card 8.11g by Broadcom.

Its been few days now that I can't access Internet though it shows connected. It does connect with the Wifi without any issue and even show the full signal like before, but actually there's no internet access. No browsers (IE,Chrome,FF) load any webpage, no messengers work.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I log onto the PC, I have to reset the local network adapter in order to go online - it solves the problem every time. The real issue is with the laptop. It keeps dropping connection and, even when it shows up with a full signal, it can't connect to the internet and, when it does, it's really, really slow. I've tried resetting the IP address, I've gone in to make sure the network isn't hidden, I've checked the WEP key, I've even had it right next to the pc (which works only marginally, occasionally).We can't afford to buy another new laptop and I can't work out what the problem is.

My Laptop stopped having internet access. I am able to connect to my Linksys (says Limited Access) but then it states I do not have internet access. I read other forums and tried to do the "command prompt" but when I try to run as administrator it tells me "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". My wife can't access the internet on her laptop, The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1750 with Windows 32 bit vista. I have the Internet plugged into the wire on the side of the computer, I am not using the wireless at the home. The wire going to the computer works on another computer for the internet.

I restored an old Vista laptop to out-of-the-box state to give to my Dad. This laptop had a wireless connection to the internet and network previously. After the restore, I can't get a connection to the internet, even though my router sees it and it has an ip address. It says Unidentified Network Local Access only, and it doesn't see any of the computers on the network. Sometimes the other computers see it but can't connect, sometimes, the other computers don't see it. I hate Vista.

All my other eight devices have an internet connection no problem, but I powered off the modem and router a couple of times with no change. I tried updating the Atheros to the latest driver on Toshiba's website for this model, but it doesn't seem to take. If I uninstall the old drivers, Windows rudely just immediately reinstalls them again. If I just update the driver, and pick the new file, the driver version remains the same as the previous driver. I'm banging my head on the wall with the driver

I have recently purchased and installed a TL-WR841N wireless router to replace an older system. After following all of the quick install guide and the like I got it set up and working correctly both wired and wireless. However one laptop in the household, an Acer Aspire 5315 running Windows Vista 32bit, does not connect. Using an ethernet cable works fine but the wireless signal is seen and appears to connect but does not find the internet and states Local Only Access.When connected wirelessly I also cannot ping the device but when connected with a cable I can and get a good return.The firmware is up to date on the router and the latop is full up to date with drivers and windows updates.
I've just recently bought a second hand Acire laptop is v.good condition, it does everything fine apart from connect via wireless.I have another laptop which can connect on it's wireless and the Acer laptop can get a connection if you use a network cable directly to the router.I have a Sky phone & Broadband package.

I upgraded my old Linksys wrt54g to the E1500. All the XP os are connected via cable and wireless connection, but the Vista laptop i get local access only connection error. This laptop used to connect on the older router using wep but with E1500 wpa-2 it cannot connect. I am unable to ping the router from the laptop wireless. Connecting ethernet cable it works fine and logging in as a guest works does too.

I have found many well meaning suggestions to resolve this annoying aspect of networking between Windows 7, Vista and XP but it seems like we are all banging our heads against a brick wall. I have tried every suggestion I can find on other forums but still my Windows 7 computer cannot access my XP Home or Vista machines. The message I see each time I try is as follows:- "\WINXP (or \VISTA) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have permissions. The account is not authorised to log in from this station." You will of course appreciate that the 'administrator' is myself. I can access files and a printer on Windows 7 from the other two computers providing I place shared files in the public folder ... no problem with this.
I have checked that all three computers have the same Workgroup Name. Yes, I have got Network Discovery turned on. Yes, I have turned on file and printer sharing. Yes, I have turned off Password protected sharing (and tried it turned on). Yes, I have set my network location to Work network. Yes, the computers I am trying to access do show in my network window ... each and everyone of them can be pinged from each other. I even have a little utility called Wireless Network Watcher that shows that the IP addresses, MAC addresses and each computer by name can be seen on the network.
I have one laptop (Windows Vista) and one PC (Windows 7) in my house and I am trying to share folders between them. The problem is I can access my laptop's files from my pc, but I can't access my pc's files from my laptop.
And when I go to Network and Sharing Center, on "View your active networks" part, I click joined to give check mark on Pictures, Music, Videos, Documents, and Printers (the default setting: only printers that got checked). After I checked those all, I click "Save changes". But, if I go back to click "Joined" It was set as default, it is like it doesn't save my setting.

I clicked on the view available networks and then the SSID names, typed my network key, and clicked "connect". It keeps on connecting, connecting and finally disappears and WAN connection remains with crossed mark. But it shows full signal in laptop and I'm standing beside the WAP.

My mom wanted to use it to check her email. she didnt download anything, but after she turned it off, and i turned it back on, the computer would not detect any type of internet activity. i put in a new ethernet card, and it still would not work. The sound on the computer has also stopped working. i checked windows audio service, and it says its running, and there is no detected problem with any of the hardware.

I have been traveling all over Germany and automatically detecting internet wherever I go however I cannot detect the dlink wireless access point directly across from me. My work computer is detecting and connecting just fine. I see other wireless networks just not the one I have a password for so I cannot connect. When I try to connect to my internet, it connects, but attempts to "identify" the connection for about 10 seconds then it says "Undentified network" and fails to have internet access. 2 other computers are connected to this network with no problem. I've tried resetting everything, and many other "fixes" for this exact problem from other forums. The problem I was having was my laptop wouldn't connect to my new router provided by them, it would say it was connected but 'Local Only'. Turned out in the end all I needed to do was update my Atheros and Realtek drivers. Months down the line, now having the same symptoms, I decide to update my drivers only to find out there are no updates available and my drivers are up to date and working. The only other thing that may be the root to the this problem is the fact last night I connected to my girlfriends router at her house with this same laptop. Now I come back to my router this evening and I'm having these symptoms I had months ago. It's also saying the network is 'Undentified' eventhough it SAYS it's connected. It doesnt allow me to access the internet at all. I removed the history of my girlfriends connection on manage wireless networks, including my own.

Everytime I try it seems like I connected (the little blue globe symbol displays) but when I try and go to a webpage, the connection times out or moves slow. When I run diagnose and repair it tells me that this computer has "limited or no connectivity" even though I'm able to connect to other networks. Selecting the "automatically get new IP settings" and "reset network adapter" options don't work. After selecting these earlier it was telling me "unable to connect to primary DNS server", then it was telling me "windows has confirmed this computer is currently experiencing a network connectivity problem". Now it's telling me there is no problem in spite of the slow connection.
I don't think my wireless adapter is the issue, I'm able to connect to other networks fine. I don't think the router/modem is the issue, there's another computer in the house (that I don't own) as well as my xbox hooked up wireless to it with no problem.
I am having trouble connecting to the internet in Windows Vista Sp2. I have looked in device manager for any type of ethernet device, and I don't see one. I do not have a wireless adapter installed, but when I plug in an Ethernet cord I don't see any type of bubble saying I have new connections. View 19 Replies View RelatedI had a small issue wherein my pc would lose ALL network connection to my pc, but the network icon showed that i had full signal, no issues. as long as i sign in on skype before the internet drops, it will stay on after it drops and i can still chat and everything, and to fix, i had to restart my pc. well, it had gotten better.And now its back, and WAY worse then before. skype doesnt have time to sign in upon bootup, and wont connect. steam wont connect, NOTHING will conect, but i still show full signal and no yellow mark or anything! and no, i am not able to reinstall windows. I am going to try (soon, i am not able to just yet) direct ethernet to my router. all other PCs in the house are working perfectly, even this one that is slow as crap because it has windows 7 and is designed for windows XP.
We have ASA 5540. We setup Site-to-Site VPN and Remote Access VPN (Cisco VPN client). If are running full tunnel on the Cisco VPN client, the internet access is slow. For example, when we are running full-tunnel, the internet speed is 16 Mbps based on Speedtest.net. When we go to Speedtest.net, some of the graphics do not load. If we are running Split-tunnel, the internet access speed is 78 Mbps based on Speedtest.net and the Speedtest.net web site loads all the graphics.
