Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 - Multiple Computer Slowing My Connection Down?

Feb 10, 2013

I'm using a Linksys E1500 on my Timewarner 20Mbs connection and I've noticed that anytime another computer on my network connects my connection speed take a significant drop.  This happens when Macs or PCs connect and there doesn't seem to be any common ground between any of them.  In addition the connection is slow wether the other PCs are idle or downloading anything, it seems to make no difference.  my ping in any game drops from 70 to 500 just for 2 other PC being on at the saem time on the network.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Wifi Connection Slowing Down When Downloading

Aug 2, 2011

I have the following setup at home:

-E4200 connected via Ethernet cable (100Mbs) to local ISP for internet access
-E4200 connected via Ethernet cable (1Gps) to my desktop PC
-E4200 connected via wireless (5Ghz with WPA2 personal) to my laptop

In general, everything works fine, I can download files from internet to my PC close to the maximum speed limit (80-90Mbs), the wireless connection goes up to 300Mbs and it can achieve around 10-14MB/s file transfer between PC and laptop.A lot of the time the wireless connection to my laptop is used for HD content streaming from the desktop PC. It works very well until I start downloading files to my PC with speed greater than 50Mbs, when the wireless connection speed drops very fast to about 500KB/s which results in interruptions on the video streaming. At the same time the router’s web interface reacts much slower than usual, as if the router’s CPU is overloaded.

I’ve read this follow up review on Small net builder url...and it’s clear that there are some issues when taking E4200 to the limit, but in my case it’s nowhere near that.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Internet Connection On / Off

May 5, 2012

I have a E1500 hooked to a Galaxy Broadband/Hughes Satellite internet system.  From the router I have gone to a EZXS55W ver. 4 switch.  Off of the switch I have 2 computers and a PoS machine.  The satellite system gives us a dynamic IP.  I am noticing that my connection from computer to computer and also from them and the POS machine to the internet is constantly switching on and off, it seems.  Any ideas what could be causing this issue??  We just recently went from a Static IP to the Dynamic IP.  We did not have this issue with the Static IP and wondering if there are some settings I have neglected.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Internet Connection For Downloading Using E1500

Sep 29, 2011

I set up the e1500 and everything worked well, my download speed over the wifi was something like 50mps, now its down to .3 mps over the wifi.  When I'm hardwired to the router the speed goes back up and everything is fine.  The only problem is the wifi. Its not the ISP because my roommates aren't having a problem with their wifi at all.  I haven't changed anything on my computer except updated some drivers since I set up the router.  My network card drivers are up to date and so is the router's drivers.  I'm also doing all this about 5 feet away from the router.

I have a Dell XPS L502x running win 7 64 bit.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Looses Connection To Android Devices

Apr 20, 2013

Updated firmware was installed and settings were reviewed. Intermittently the E1500 looses its ability to connect only to our Android devices and "Cisco Connect" displays that it has lost Internet connectivity.  The PC hard-wired to the E1500 and another PC connected wirelessly both work fine when this happens, despite the Cisco Connect message.  The Android devices show the presence of the network, but they never "connect" - find the IP address.  The problem can only be resolved by re-booting (powering off/on) the E1500. The loss of connectivity to our two Android devices and the Cisco Connect error display always are concurrent. E1500 looses connection to Android devices

Linksys Wired Router :: RV082 Slowing Down Internet Connection

Jul 14, 2011

I have a RV082 Linksys router and at the moment it is slowing down my internet connection by a significant amount. With the router, I get about 3 Mbps and with a modem directly connected to my computer I get about 24 Mbps. Before with the router I used to get 15 Mbps, which is understandable because it is connected to 4 computers total. Maybe my setup has something to do with it. I got a cable that is connected to a modem, the modem is connected to the router, from which one port is connected to a computer, and another is used to connect to a Netgear switch, which in turn is connected to 3 more computers.

Everything was fine until I went on a trip and wasn't home for about 2 weeks, and when I came back, this happened. I tried restarting the modem, the router and all to no avail. I also tried to do a factory reset on the router and again got slow speeds.

Internet Keeps Slowing Down After Multiple Resets?

Dec 31, 2012

This problem only seemed to arise after messing with my MTU a few days back to 48 so I could play an online game with lower ping, but have since changed it back to 1500.Since then, my internet has been slowing down every 30 minutes to an hour and won't speed back up until I reset the router and the problem continues after that.I've fresh installed Windows 7, updated the Firmware on my DIR-636L, changed my DNS multiple times, unhooked my DIR-636L and have been only using my SURFboard SB6141 modem and the problem has yet to be fixed.I took a Netalyzer test and here are the results. I bolded the important stuff:

Major Abnormalities
Your ISP's DNS server is slow to lookup names
Minor Aberrations
The measured network latency was somewhat high
Network packet buffering may be excessive

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Keeps Slowing Down To Snail Speeds?

Jun 20, 2012

I'm tired of resetting my router. Every so often my e3000 will like forget its supposed to supply bandwidth. What I mean is that I pay for 7mbps down .5mbps up cable broadband and when the router is working fine I always get really close or over that. When it forgets what its supposed to be doing I get a painful .15mbps~1mbps down/up (usually under dial up tho) I check the modem and all values are running a full speed with good voltages, SNR's, and frequencies. It doesn't seem to matter if I change any values in the router after the issue starts. I need to do a reset either through the firmware "factory defaults" or the red reset button. Then everything goes back to working but I'm seriously getting tired of resetting my router every week or more. Restoring settings also causes it to go into crawl mode. This effects wifi and wired connections. Its also been upgraded to the latest firmware version from linksys.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g - Internet Speeds Slowing Down When Wifi Enabled

Jun 27, 2011

I have both the WRT54G and a E1000 wireless routers and this problem is occurring for both of them.I use AT&T DSL and the speeds are fine when it is :

1. Not plugged into router

2. Wireless Network Mode is disabled through the router configuration page, having all devices wired.

However when wireless network mode is enabled, speeds drop significantly, 15~17 ms ping goes to 250~800 ping, and download speeds are way lower also. When the router is reset, the regular speeds will return for maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute, then it'll drop back down. I'm positive there's no outsiders connected to my network and this problem still occurs, only when the router is giving out wireless signals. Sometimes the problem randomly goes away for a while but it will always come back. I've tried many things, firmware upgrades, factory restore, none of them seem to work, the only solution so far has been to disabling it, but I need it to be on as there are other devices in other rooms of the house that need WiFi to connect to the internet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 -Getting Weak Signals?

Dec 7, 2011

So I just got this router in hopes that I would get a better signal within my room as opposed to my older router. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.

My room Desktop Wifi:
Download was 0.50 mbs Upload: 3.6

My laptop right next to Router:
Download 19.87 mbs Upload: 3.5

My room Desktop Neighbors Wifi:
Download was 17.3 mbs Upload was 3.32.

What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?

I want to setup a wireless bridge between this and an E1500, so I can connect my TV to the E1500 (via an ethernet cable) and have it access the internet. Unfortunatly I can run a cable from the WAG120N to where the TV is. So it I can get the E1500 wirelessly bridged to the WAG120N? I have updated the firmware ont he E1500 to get Bridging support, but from what I can tell it only provides bridging via an ethernet cable. Is there away to bridge wirelessly?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Won't Connect To Internet

Aug 16, 2012

I just purchased an E1500 router to create a wireless connection. I had been using an older Cisco model previously.
I can't get it to connect. I have tried everything that is written in the support articles. In particular, I followed the article 3686, about setting up a router with cable internet modem, after the Cisco Connect didn't create the connection automatically. When I plug the laptop directly into my modem, I have a connection. I have reset the modem and the router several times in the process. I've been to the web-based setup page and followed all of the instructions about cloning the MAC. When I hit the release and renew IP addresses (under the Status tab), nothing happened. They remained 0.0.0.0

Called my ISP, but they say it's a router issue.I think I'm going to start from scratch--uninstalling the Cisco Connect, reinstalling it, turning everything off and back on again to see if it somehow will work automatically.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Connects With 2 Computers But Not The 3rd

Aug 17, 2011

I ordered a linksys E1500 for a home office. There are 3 computers that connect wirelessly: a 8-year-old desktop with a Netgear USB adapter, a 1.5 year old laptop and a 3.5 year old netbook, both with internal wireless cards. The desktop and netbook are running Windows XP and the laptop runs WIndows 7.

The desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7) are able to connect with no problem. However, the netbook (XP) is having problems connecting. It is able to connect to the router using the WPA2 key, and says it has excellent signal. However, when I start up an internet browser, it gives me a DNS error for any page I try to access. Connecting directly to the router with a cable works fine.

I got on the phone with Linksys support. They told me the problem was that the computer wouldn't use WPA2, but when I switched to WEP, it didn't work at all!  I switched back to WPA2 and have the same problem as before: it connects to the network but DNS error messages for any website I try to access (And I've tried both Chrome and Explorer).

To make things more interesting, I set up a guest network on the router, and the netbook connects fine through that so far!

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160n V3 Has Slow Connection When Multiple Users Are Connected

Oct 9, 2012

As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.

I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.

Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1500 Won't Allow To Connect To An SMTP Server?

Mar 23, 2013

I have an E1500 N300 Router, I've had it for 3 or 4 weeks now. Ever since I've had it, I can no longer send e-mails out with Eudora nor Outlook.  I've tried using about 3 different SMTP's just to verify that it wasn't a server issue. I tried Port Forwarding in the router settings. I selected SMTP and POP3 and checked Enable on both, then save changes. But they don't appear to be taking, as when I go back in and try to set them again, it let's me and doesn't give me a Port Overlap warning. I've been told that I shouldn't need to mess with Port Forwarding at all, I just need to go into the Firewall settings and open up the SMTP, POP3, and IMAP ports. However, I don't see any settings in my Router settings to allow this, aside from Port Forwarding and it's not actually saving the changes. I will admit, I'm not all that great with this stuff, and this is the first time I've had any issues with a Router stopping me from E-mailing.
