Have to re-boot 1-2x daily. Updated firmware through Cisco, followed by about 7-8 support calls. They all recommend some sales thing, new router, computer update and clean-up, or blame it on my modem (not the case). When E1500 goes down, all wired and wireless connections are lost. I upgraded my E2500 with the last version of firmware but now is dead. the power led is turn on, but the ping are discontinued. the other problem is that after 10/15 sec, the router will restart automatically. i try with tftp but after the reset of router does not change anything.

Long story short, I had to reset it, but I still can't get into it. I have gotten into it, but when I try to save it gets hung and then I reload and then it starts all over again.It does work hard- wired--I can access the internet with ethernet. But I can't get the dang thing reset and then upgrade the firmware...
Somehow I set this router up to act essentially as a repeater, an extension of the wireless network that is "anchored" (not the right word I'm sure) by the wireless router provided to me by my DSL provider. I want to do the same thing once I get this one working again--set it up as an extension of the existing network so I can essentially walk around the house with my iPad and not have to re-log in when passing into a new "zone".
I've got an IPTV network with Bell FibeTV with Motorola VIP1216 (the DVR master) and VIP1200 (slave) cable boxes. All the coax cables in my walls form a wired ethernet network instead of a cable TV network. To get better wireless coverage in my home, I've set up routers as wireless access points at each of the cable boxes. Essentially I've plugged the router into the ethernet bridge of the cable boxes, and disabled DHCP and gave it a static IP and did all things I needed to do to disable all the routing capabilities and make it into a switch (here's what I did, step by step: [url...]). So when I go from one room to another, I just select a new wireless access point to get maximum signal strength and speed.

So I think it is a router issue :On the WRT150N, Internet light is flashing fast for 2 seconds, then is off for 2 seconds, then flashes, then is off and so on, wether there is a device (computer, modem, ...) plugged or not, through the blue ethernet connector.And sometimes, Internet light stays off from power on, whatever is done with ethernet connexions (yellow or blue).
When connected to the blue ethernet Internet connector, my pc ethernet lights don't blink (nor the link light or the data light)I have try the 30-30-30 reset cycle. But it doesn't improve.I have tried the loopback test : connect an ethernet cable from the one of yellow ethernet port of WRT150N to the blue ethernet of WRT150 N.Sometimes, the light for the yellow ethernet port goes on for a few seconds, while the Internet light continues to flash. I've bought my E4200v2 via eBay, because original Cisco store doesn't ship to my country (Israel).My first unit was... defective, I think I wrote about the issue on this forum a while ago.It had connection troubles, always in a dead loop, saying "Connecting..." one to 100 times it managed to connect, and suffered slow internet connection speed, where all speedtests gave me 60% of my actual internet speed.Which is 30mbit.I'm sure about my ISP, it uses next.gen technology, they have their own underwater optic cables. Without Cisco router, only dialer, I get 100% of my internet speed, or with another router as well.I decided to RMA my e4200v2.
Out of context question: Why there's no option to specify server name instead of server IP? our ISP uses domain name for connection, rather than IP address, as they have a lot and a load balancer above 'em.Now, to the original issue.Refund is no option, RMA again is no option, too much time and money.Maybe there is a solution? It just can't be the reality, that two out of two units are not working. I heard this router is very good. And I heard the v1 is working very well in Israel. so It can't be our country that is the problem.By the way, I've called my ISP and they've switched me to MPLS connection for a try, so in a router you just switch to "Automatic configuration - DHCP" and it pulls IP, DNS servers and connected to the internet, but was hooooribly slow.
So I'm back to dialer. the main still is the "Connecting..." loop, sometimes says "Connected" for a second, and then connecting again... It manages to pull DNS addresses though, but never the IP and never managed to stay connected.All the connection configs are very basic, you know it. Server IP, username, password, keep-alive, MTU (I've tried auto, and a ton of other combinations recommented by our ISP or Cisco).My latest idea was to film how I burn it or throw a rock at it and send to Cisco the video, but that's kinda too much, it's too early for such decisions, especially when already $300 were spent.

Last week the Verizon-supplied DSL modem went bad (wasn't receiving data) and was replaced.
Now I can get Internet direct out of modem, and when I connect it to router the router's Internet light is on, but it seems to stop there. Devices connected to router via Ethernet or wifi don't get Internet.
I'm able to get to the router's admin console via Ethernet and wifi, but no Internet.
I just purchased a e1500 to replace my wrvs4400n which sadly died. yea I do loose a lot of features. I set up everything without a hitch but when I try to use Wireless-N mode only, none of my computers can connect to the router and all my computers use N cards. I'm stuck on using Mixed Mode which limits my speed to G speeds. I didn't purchase this to be a G router but an N router and it seems N mode has issues. I am on the current firmware.

I tried logging into the internet and my WIRED computer would not connect. My wifes WIRED computer next to mine didn't have any trouble connecting. Resetting my computer didn't work. I had to cycle the router by unplugging it! Then today, my (2) kids are using Pandora on their (2) computers wirelessly, and same set up with my wifes computer and mine, and again only my computer looses access from the router and all other computers stay connected.

I finally gave up and hooked back up our 6 year old belkin wi fi router. Had internet access in 1 minute. I bought this wi fi router was because Amazon described it as simple, quick, automatically does the work of hooking it up for you. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed, in fact I think I'm getting weaker signals. My previous router was a D-Link WBR-2310. I went to speed test.net and tested 3 variables. My wifi on my desktop in my room, my wifi when right next to a router on my laptop, and my wifi using my neighbors wifi in my room.
My room Desktop Wifi:
Download was 0.50 mbs Upload: 3.6
My laptop right next to Router:
Download 19.87 mbs Upload: 3.5
My room Desktop Neighbors Wifi:
Download was 17.3 mbs Upload was 3.32.
What is the point of this new wireless N router, when it can't beat a G router older model in reach? And why does is have a 0.50 mb d/l speed but a 3.6 upload speed?
I have my internet coming into my WAG120N and going out wirelessly. I want to setup a wireless bridge between this and an E1500, so I can connect my TV to the E1500 (via an ethernet cable) and have it access the internet. Unfortunatly I can run a cable from the WAG120N to where the TV is. So it I can get the E1500 wirelessly bridged to the WAG120N? I have updated the firmware ont he E1500 to get Bridging support, but from what I can tell it only provides bridging via an ethernet cable. Is there away to bridge wirelessly?

I can't get it to connect. I have tried everything that is written in the support articles. In particular, I followed the article 3686, about setting up a router with cable internet modem, after the Cisco Connect didn't create the connection automatically.When I plug the laptop directly into my modem, I have a connection. I have reset the modem and the router several times in the process. I've been to the web-based setup page and followed all of the instructions about cloning the MAC. When I hit the release and renew IP addresses (under the Status tab), nothing happened. They remained 0.0.0.0
Called my ISP, but they say it's a router issue.I think I'm going to start from scratch--uninstalling the Cisco Connect, reinstalling it, turning everything off and back on again to see if it somehow will work automatically.
I just purchased a new linksys e1500 and followed the steps on the cd to set it up. I have internet access on my windows 7 laptop and iphone however, I have "local access only" on the two laptops we have running vista. The router is working fine for the windows 7 machine and the iphone but I cannot connect to the internet on the two vista machines.

Off of the switch I have 2 computers and a PoS machine. The satellite system gives us a dynamic IP. I am noticing that my connection from computer to computer and also from them and the POS machine to the internet is constantly switching on and off, it seems. Any ideas what could be causing this issue?? We just recently went from a Static IP to the Dynamic IP. We did not have this issue with the Static IP and wondering if there are some settings I have neglected.

There are 3 computers that connect wirelessly: a 8-year-old desktop with a Netgear USB adapter, a 1.5 year old laptop and a 3.5 year old netbook, both with internal wireless cards. The desktop and netbook are running Windows XP and the laptop runs WIndows 7.
The desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7) are able to connect with no problem. However, the netbook (XP) is having problems connecting. It is able to connect to the router using the WPA2 key, and says it has excellent signal. However, when I start up an internet browser, it gives me a DNS error for any page I try to access. Connecting directly to the router with a cable works fine.
I got on the phone with Linksys support. They told me the problem was that the computer wouldn't use WPA2, but when I switched to WEP, it didn't work at all! I switched back to WPA2 and have the same problem as before: it connects to the network but DNS error messages for any website I try to access (And I've tried both Chrome and Explorer).
To make things more interesting, I set up a guest network on the router, and the netbook connects fine through that so far!
Which one have the best range ? I know that the E1500 has SpeedBoost feature but does it matter ? I can get both for the same price.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an E1500 N300 Router, I've had it for 3 or 4 weeks now. Ever since I've had it, I can no longer send e-mails out with Eudora nor Outlook. I've tried using about 3 different SMTP's just to verify that it wasn't a server issue. I tried Port Forwarding in the router settings. I selected SMTP and POP3 and checked Enable on both, then save changes. But they don't appear to be taking, as when I go back in and try to set them again, it let's me and doesn't give me a Port Overlap warning. I've been told that I shouldn't need to mess with Port Forwarding at all, I just need to go into the Firewall settings and open up the SMTP, POP3, and IMAP ports. However, I don't see any settings in my Router settings to allow this, aside from Port Forwarding and it's not actually saving the changes. I will admit, I'm not all that great with this stuff, and this is the first time I've had any issues with a Router stopping me from E-mailing.

When I try to manually set up a connection I get limited connectivity and no internet. - Filter Anonymous Internet Requests is unchecked.- I've verified that the Static IP is correct.
- I've tried pinging from several remote locations on different connections, with no avail.
I can't seem to figure out why i can't ping this device.
