I have Vista Home on a laptop (all up to date) and when I try to set up wireless connection using a key it goes to 25% then times out. When I try to manually set up a connection I get limited connectivity and no internet. I have one other laptop with Win 7 and this connected with no problems, also one desk top connected with no problems. Kept getting the error 82BD0119 on the Vista laptop.

I have tried resetting the router with no luck. I have tried to update the drivers but I cannot even log into 192.168.1.1. I am in dire need of the wireless cpability. When I go to the run command and type ipconfig it tells me I have no default gateway.

Everyday i turn my laptop on i get either the message "limited connectivity or it doesnt find the wireless network at all" Same for my girlfriends laptop. Strange thing is after i reboot the router by taking the power off the laptops connect and have no problems anymore. It is quite annoying to have to reboot the wireless all the time so i would like for it it to work properly.
Connected through cable are my xbox, mediacentre and deskptop who do not have any problems staying connected to the internet. It is only the wireless that is giving me troubles.

My chrome browser got hijacked by the search conduit virus. So, I cleaned it with AdW cleaner. My internet connection was ok then. After that, I ran ccleaner and cleared the registry. Now, I find that I have trouble even connecting to my wireless - it says limited connectivity or no connectivity. The other comp's in my house can connect to the internet fine. I've checked and resetted my network adapter. It is working, but still can't connect. I restored all my registry but still it doesn't solve the problem.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have a BEFSR41 v3 firmware v 1.05.00 - i have been usuing it for at least 7 or 8 years now - at one time i had 3 computers hooked up and they all three worked fine. Now i have 2 plugged into the router - both are xppro machines - the one i am now works with no problems. The other computer however has the limited or no connectivity problem.I used this router for years without any problems then one day this ip conflict message started to appear.Then one day i started getting this weird ip conflict message on both computers but only occasionaly - it never caused any problems - if you ignored it - it would simply go away.Then one day computer #2 got the limited or no connectivity message - i simple reboot fixed it. This solution worked several times. Computer #1 has never had any problems.

I have a Linksys E1500 wireless router that I have had for about 3 months and it has been working great up until today. I realized non of my wireless devices could detect the network, so I got on my PC which is hard wired to the router and it to says it had no network connection. So I power cycled both the router and the modem. When it came back up, this PC that I am typing from now has an internet connection but is says it is connected to Network 2 instead of the routers name for the network. My other PC that is hard wired to the router says its not connected to the network, and when I open up the Cisco Connect software it tells me my router is not plugged in. Also, nothing works wirelessly.In the web control panel it still has all my setting intact but still looks like its not connected to the internet.

The name "MSHOME:1d" could not be registered on the Interface with IP address 192.168.1.100. The machine with the IP address 192.168.1.20 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.
If I ping the router from computer #2 it comes back 100% loss.
If I ping the NIC it comes back 0% loss.
I might also add that I can see both computer #1 and #2 in my home network workgroup on both computers. I've tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew - I've tried it one after the other and also a reboot in between. I've tried clicking on repair in the LAN status - I've tried resetting the ip stack with the netsh command - I've even tried different cables and switching ports on the router.
I'm seeing some weird behavior trying to connect my Windows XP SP3 desktop via a USB wireless to my Windows network via Linksys WRT120N Router. It is unable to connect with DHCP. "Limited or No Connectivity" is shown on the network icon and no internet connectivity is present. When i manually assign a static IP, i am able to get connectivity to browse the internet, and I am able to ping the other computers in my network, but I am unable to view the windows workgroup. I am able to manually map network drives, but those drop continually. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the connectivity and the dropping while I am using the static IP. DHCP does not work at all. I'm just trying to get this computer connected to the windows workgroup so that I can map network drives and printers once and for all. Right now the rest of the network (ethernet cabled to router) works fine. I'm thinking it may be something in the routers wireless config, as I am having the same issues (DHCP not working at all, static IP working but constantly dropping) with a Mac laptop.

(It's not my computer, and I can't recall the name of the software.) The computer can't connect to the internet, but it can connect to the wireless network. When you try to repair the connection you get back that the computer cannot refresh the IP address, and thus repair the connection.A few extra things, the owner seems to be under the impression that another computer has kicked him off and has somehow broken his connection due the fact that it is used for gaming. These problems occurred when said computer had no internet connection at all. (Wired or wireless, everything was unplugged.) I just would like some kind of verification of the fact that another computer, under general circumstances, can't break another's connection out of thin air. I have tried resetting card, routers, and some other things. I am working on trying other wireless receivers on the computer and a different router tomorrow. I will update when that is finished.

The strange thing is that I've had no problem connecting to other wireless networks (at my own home, at work, etc). n their network, I get a message that says "taking longer than usual to connect to network". Then, it eventually connects but leaves me with "limited connectivity"....and I can't access the internet.I had no problem connecting to their network on that laptop when I had XP and no other computers are having this problem with their network.

The network, for me, is listed as "Unidentified" and the connection switches between Local Only and Limited Connectivity. It also says I am connected to my network with excellent strength. After reinstalling the wireless adapter, the internet works! Until I found when I came back later that my internet shows unidentified network with limited connectivity. It happened when I was not around and my computer went into hibernate mode after downloading firefox installer. There is no antivirus installed, so it can't be a problem. My wireless adapter is the usb type,brand tplink: TL-WN721N. Tried a few methods suggested by the internet but nothing works: unchecking the iv6 box, follow the steps that starts with the regedit part, uninstall and reinstall the driver for the wireless adapter, fix the ip address.There is no problem with the network as the rest of the computers and laptops in the house has no network issues. But all of them are running on windows 7.
View 19 Replies View Relatedso the problem started with the normal limited connectivity, i was given the laptop and tried to rectify the problem using ip resets renew, release, ipvc reset, winsock reset and it wouldnt budge,if i leave the ipv4 settings to automatic it will not display the ssid of the router, it will connect to it but display unidentified network, if i enter the ip address dns e.t.c then it will display the router but it will still not connect to the internet, i have tried updating drivers, removing all drivers and letting windows rediscover and install driver.i have also tried installing an internet dongle, the laptop will pickup the dongle, install the software but then display no connection.
I then tried installing a belkin wirless adapter but since the software is only up to vista i dont believe it has worked. ( everything installed ok but still will not connect to the internet) i am also finding out that it is not getting proxy details either. and on occasions i will get limited connectivity or the adapter will refuse to connect to the router.i have run xirrus wifi inspector on both my laptop (working) and his laptop (not working)the signal strength runs from about -44db too -50db which is strong enough but the automatic ip address differ alot according too xirrus these are the results

Having an issue with a Cisco Linksys E1500 on a home network. The device has a feature to provide a guest wireless network but the guest network can't get to the internet. A wired connection is fine, as is the normal wireless network but not the guest. The cheesy thing is, that it doesn't list an option for what type of wireless security protocol you want on the guest network. I'm assuming that it uses the same security protocol that the normal wireless network uses, but who knowsEspecially weird is that it asks you what password you want on the guest network but then the guest network show to be insecure when you try to connectthought maybe it was something funky with some of my configurations so I went ahead and factory defaulted it and just set it up with an insecure network for both the normal and guest networks. This didn't solve it. The guest network still couldn't get to the internet. In fact, the guest network can't even ping the router.

I connect to the internet using a wireless USB. I woke up this morning and the internet showed that it was connected yet it wouldn't allow me to open the web or anything such as "msngr" I took the wireless card out for a couple minutes and then tried. That didnt do anything but say acquiring network address. I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to computers but these are the things that I have tried so far :
I went into properties and configure USB . . Made sure that the SSID said "Any" I Also tried going into properties and tcp/IP internet protocol and made sure it was on obtain IP address automatically . Hmm I tried. RUN>SERVICES> to make sure that the DHCP and TCP were started and on Automatic. I then tried system restore :- (went back about 2 weeks) . . Nothing. I then tried RUN>CMD>IPCONFIG/RELEASE *ENTER* IPCONFIG/RENEW *ENTER*.
when I did that it showed wireless network is now connected, yet back to ground zero. It wont let me browse. Its not really connected. When I look at the connection status, signal strenghth is good. Packets sent & received are good. I feel like there is just something little that. I am not getting, that is making this happen.

Setting up my wifi network with an old BEFSR41 Router and WAP11 wireless access point. Have laptop with XP Pro that connects just fine without encryption but as soon as I try to use WEP I get the "Limited or no connectivity" error. When prompted, I type in the same passphrase as the one I used for the WEP 128bit encryption while setting up the WAP11 for my network.

They came home from college and attempted to get on our network unsuccessfully. In their network and sharing center, both their computers say under view your active networks: unidentified network (public network). Access type: No network access. Connections: has the correct network name information. When they attempt to access the network with the correct password, they show 4 bars of reception and a message of limited access (along with the above message). I did a little checking and found that our router info differs from their auto configuration. Our IPv4 starts with 192 not 169 like thiers. Also, the subnet masks are different. Also, they have no info in the IPv4 default Gateway, IPv4 DNS Server, and IPv4 WINS Server. Finally, my wife tried to acces the network with an ebook reader. It shows secured WPA2, but won't access it.

I just bought a D-Link DIR-600.After I went through the setup wizard, I was able to get an internet connection, but it was useless (google search very slow, but connected). This was fixed when I disabled NAT, but that meant no other computer was able to access the internet through the router. This has all been wired. I still haven't setup the wi-fi.
