Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Limited Connectivity
Jul 10, 2011
I recently bought a WRT120N Linksys wireless-N Home router but i have major problems with it getting to work.
Everyday i turn my laptop on i get either the message "limited connectivity or it doesnt find the wireless network at all" Same for my girlfriends laptop. Strange thing is after i reboot the router by taking the power off the laptops connect and have no problems anymore. It is quite annoying to have to reboot the wireless all the time so i would like for it it to work properly.
Connected through cable are my xbox, mediacentre and deskptop who do not have any problems staying connected to the internet. It is only the wireless that is giving me troubles.

I'm seeing some weird behavior trying to connect my Windows XP SP3 desktop via a USB wireless to my Windows network via Linksys WRT120N Router. It is unable to connect with DHCP. "Limited or No Connectivity" is shown on the network icon and no internet connectivity is present. When i manually assign a static IP, i am able to get connectivity to browse the internet, and I am able to ping the other computers in my network, but I am unable to view the windows workgroup. I am able to manually map network drives, but those drop continually. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the connectivity and the dropping while I am using the static IP. DHCP does not work at all. I'm just trying to get this computer connected to the windows workgroup so that I can map network drives and printers once and for all. Right now the rest of the network (ethernet cabled to router) works fine. I'm thinking it may be something in the routers wireless config, as I am having the same issues (DHCP not working at all, static IP working but constantly dropping) with a Mac laptop.

I have a wrt120n router. It will not give IP addresses after 24 hours of usage. Having to reset the router to be able to get connectivity is getting to be very aggravating.

I have Vista Home on a laptop (all up to date) and when I try to set up wireless connection using a key it goes to 25% then times out. When I try to manually set up a connection I get limited connectivity and no internet. I have one other laptop with Win 7 and this connected with no problems, also one desk top connected with no problems. Kept getting the error 82BD0119 on the Vista laptop.

I have been using this router fine for a year now. Now I can only get on the internet if I am directly plugged into the modem. It says I have limited connectivity. My ISP is Comcast. I have tried resetting the router with no luck. I have tried to update the drivers but I cannot even log into 192.168.1.1. I am in dire need of the wireless cpability. When I go to the run command and type ipconfig it tells me I have no default gateway.

i have a BEFSR41 v3 firmware v 1.05.00 - i have been usuing it for at least 7 or 8 years now - at one time i had 3 computers hooked up and they all three worked fine. Now i have 2 plugged into the router - both are xppro machines - the one i am now works with no problems. The other computer however has the limited or no connectivity problem.I used this router for years without any problems then one day this ip conflict message started to appear. Then one day i started getting this weird ip conflict message on both computers but only occasionaly - it never caused any problems - if you ignored it - it would simply go away. Then one day computer #2 got the limited or no connectivity message - i simple reboot fixed it. This solution worked several times. Computer #1 has never had any problems.
Sometime later the limited or no connectivity problem reappeared and this time a reboot did not work - i searched for a fix and decided to try changing the link speed from auto sense to 10mb half duplex - this solved the problem. This solution worked several times.Sometime after that the limited or no connectivity reappeared and after some searching i upgraded the routers firmware - this solved the problem.Sometime later the limited or no connectivity reappeared and this time i had to actually uninstall the NIC, reboot and then let it redetect the NIC and then the problem was fixed. This solution worked several times.Sometime later the limited or no connectivity reappeared and the previous solutions did not work to fix it - after searching for a fix i discovered that i could simply unplug the router and the plug it back in and this would solve the problem. This solution worked many times.Sometime later (wich brings us to 3 or 4 months ago) the limited or no connectivity reappeared and this time after searching for a fix i was able to fix it by updating the NIC drivers. Problem solved. This brings us to now - the limited or no connectivity has reappeared and none of the previous fixes correct the problem. When i originally set everything up it worked immediately out of the box.
DHCP is enabled - everything is set to obtain an ip address automatically. At first the event viewer reported The IP address lease 192.168.1.100 for the Network Card with network address0xxxxxxxxx has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1. {The DHCP Serversent a DHCPNACK message}.Now the even viewer just tells me it is using ip address 169.254.xxxxxx - (not the exact message but i didn't wanna go back and look)I have tried all of the previous fixes to no avail. I've tried shutting everything off and turning everything back on - i've tried resetting both the modem and the router - i've tried upgrading the firmware again. I even downloaded LELA and installed it on both computers thinking maybe it would detect and fix the problem buy no such luck. LELA simply tells me that computer #1 is working normally. On computer #2 when i installed LELA the first thing it did was try to find the router and it tells me it cannot find it.I.ve tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew - i've tried it one after the other and also a reboot in between. I've tried clicking on repair in the LAN status - i've tried even tried different cables and switching ports on the router.

I tried setting a static ip on computer #2 with no luck. When i did these two error messages appeared in the event viewer of computer #1---
The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer (computer #2) that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{0876E9A8-C6E. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.

If I ping the router from computer #2 it comes back 100% loss.
If I ping the NIC it comes back 0% loss.
I might also add that I can see both computer #1 and #2 in my home network workgroup on both computers. I've tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew - I've tried it one after the other and also a reboot in between. I have a computer that is running Windows XP and is using a Linksys wireless card and their connection software. (It's not my computer, and I can't recall the name of the software.) The computer can't connect to the internet, but it can connect to the wireless network. When you try to repair the connection you get back that the computer cannot refresh the IP address, and thus repair the connection.A few extra things, the owner seems to be under the impression that another computer has kicked him off and has somehow broken his connection due the fact that it is used for gaming. These problems occurred when said computer had no internet connection at all. (Wired or wireless, everything was unplugged.) I just would like some kind of verification of the fact that another computer, under general circumstances, can't break another's connection out of thin air. I have tried resetting card, routers, and some other things. I am working on trying other wireless receivers on the computer and a different router tomorrow. I will update when that is finished.

Setting up my wifi network with an old BEFSR41 Router and WAP11 wireless access point. Have laptop with XP Pro that connects just fine without encryption but as soon as I try to use WEP I get the "Limited or no connectivity" error. When prompted, I type in the same passphrase as the one I used for the WEP 128bit encryption while setting up the WAP11 for my network.

I just bought a D-Link DIR-600.After I went through the setup wizard, I was able to get an internet connection, but it was useless (google search very slow, but connected). This was fixed when I disabled NAT, but that meant no other computer was able to access the internet through the router. This has all been wired. I still haven't setup the wi-fi.
H/W Version B2.
F/W Version 2.03
Internet connection is ADSL2+ through a NetGear DM111P. The modem is setup as PPPoE Bridging.

I got the urge to play a Windows game, so I used my restore disks to install XP on my Acer Aspire One A150. Unfortunately, my wireless card does not work anymore (?). I am dual-booting with Ubuntu 10.10 at the moment and my wireless card works there with no problem.I get a Limited or No Connectivity error every time.I'm connected to a router, which I have reset and works okay in Linux. I am connected currently using a USB D-Link N-Adapter, however, despite being "N" is considerably slower and inconvenient.

I recently moved into a new apartment and when I connect to the router using the wireless. I get limited connectivity, it accepts the security key but can not get the internet. Connect wirelessly to another router within range and can connect to the internet via that. Also if I connect a ethernet cable to the router it gives me internet access. I couldn't see any settings in the routers menu that would prevent me from connecting(but im probably being blind).
Two other guys I'm sharing the apartment with can connect to the internet wirelessly with no issues. The router is a Thomson TWG870UIR.
Windows Vista Ultimate OS.

i have a windows 7 laptop that ive just recently purchased. The wireless Connectivity was working fine last week, now suddenly it just wont work. I believe that its due to a program i recently installed that goes by the name of Connectify. I have uninstalled it yet still whenever i try connecting to any router wirelessly, the PC displays limited or no connectivity. On the other hand When i connect my laptop to a router via an Ethernet cable everything is fine. In case you are wondering, im currently using a 3g usb wireless stick to surf the internet, but i dont want to use it as i already have a router to use.

My computer constantly goes to 'limited connectivity', for no reason. Everyone else's computer is fine, it's just mine. I have to restart the wireless access point router to get it to connect again, even though everyone else connected to the AP can access the internet. Even restarting my computer doesn't fix it. It's like the access point and my computer just don't like each other!

I've suddenly been unable to connect to my wireless network and this is the sequence of events leading to the problem. (Currently using a friend's computer). My chrome browser got hijacked by the search conduit virus. So, I cleaned it with AdW cleaner. My internet connection was ok then. After that, I ran ccleaner and cleared the registry. Now, I find that I have trouble even connecting to my wireless - it says limited connectivity or no connectivity. The other comp's in my house can connect to the internet fine. I've checked and resetted my network adapter. It is working, but still can't connect. I restored all my registry but still it doesn't solve the problem.

I'm trying to setup a router in my moms house. She has DSL and when the box is connected directly to her computer everything works fine. However, if I connect the router her computer reads "Limited or No Connectivity". I can connect to the router wired and wirelessly with my laptop, phone, and even her streaming media box without any problems. I ran IP config and i'm not geting a default gateway address.

I am having a problem trying to connect my wireless usb lan adapter to the internet. i checked my networks and i noticed that it said that i had Limited Connectivity (sometimes when i fool around with it, it switches to Local Only). i also have a wireless router (EH-100) on a separate network. that router's network, on the other hand, has no problems and it says that the network is Local and Internet. i really want to use my wireless usb lan adapter to connect my DSi to the internet. my ds recognizes the signal but because the adapter is on a Limited Connectivity network, it cant connect to the internet. I use this computer at work and at home on wireless network. At work it has been fine but at home I sometimes get the "Limited or no conectivity" message. I have not tried any solutions yet as it usually goes away if I reboot and if that does not do it taking it to work (where it works FINE) and then back home ususlly fixes the problem. Last night I was able to go online and google something but when I clicked on a link it did nothing for several minutes and THEN told me I had 'Limited or no conectivity' where just a few minutes before I was 'connected' signal strength 'excellent'. When I click on 'repair connection' it tells me it can not renew IP address. As stated I have not tried anything, changed anything, and there is no one else using computers on the network

I can access the Internet with the Gateway anywhere else ( my home and my work) but it will not connect to the owners modem. I've ran the network trouble shooting software and it doesn't fix anything.

I manage the I.T. department for an ambulance service. We have 12 ambulances all equipped with Verizon 4G LTE Samsung hotspot cards. [code] There are laptops in each of the ambulances that connect to the wireless cards in the ambulance via DHCP. I get frequent problems when the vehicle get close to each other of them jumping from one card to another... which is not a huge problem, except when it happens the computer will have a "limited connectivity" to the internet. This sometimes will resolve after 3-5 minutes on its own, or if i disconnect from the wireless card and reconnect it will resolve, or sometimes by rebooting the wireless card it will resolve. We also need the ability to move the laptops from one ambulance to another as well so we need to have this flexibility.would I be better off establishing the same IP address to each of the wireless cards, still keeping different SSID's and different channel #'s and then hard code the IP address into the laptop instead of using DHCP to connect? My goal is to eliminate the limited connectivity issue.
