Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Limited Access Of Network

Dec 8, 2011

I have an E3000 Dual Band.  Currently, I have 3 laptops and two 360s on our network. They work fine. Up until last week so did my other kid's computers.  They came home from college and attempted to get on our network unsuccessfully.  In their network and sharing center, both their computers say under view your active networks: unidentified network (public network). Access type: No network access. Connections: has the correct network name information. When they attempt to access the network with the correct password, they show 4 bars of reception and a message of limited access (along with the above message). I did a little checking and found that our router info differs from their auto configuration.  Our IPv4 starts with 192 not  169 like thiers. Also, the subnet masks are different. Also, they have no info in the IPv4 default Gateway, IPv4 DNS Server, and IPv4 WINS Server.  Finally, my wife tried to acces the network with an ebook reader.  It shows secured WPA2, but won't access it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Access Network Shares With E3000

Apr 19, 2010

I replaced my old Linksys WRT54G wireless router with the new E3000 wireless router. The installation was a breeze, but not what followed henceforth. I was able to access the internet on my wireless desktop/laptop/Netflix ROKU player/WD TV live media player, but lost access to all the network shares. I spent a lot of useless time with Linksys chat support and phone support, where they said their responsibility is only getting the internet working. They said they are not responsible for file and printer sharing issues, and suggested I use a third-party paid support package to resolve my issues. Over and above spending a hefty amount for the lates top of the line E3000 router, I was not going to shell out additional money for support.

Thinking that it could probably be due to some Windows XP firewall/anti-virus (McAfee) issues, I disconnected the E3000 and connected the old WRT54G back again. Lo and behold, everything started working fine again. I could access the shared folders of my desktop (to which my router is attached) and printer, from the wireless laptop/desktop/media player just as before without any problems. I then switched back to the E3000 and lost the shares again. So I have come to the conclusion, there is definitely some setting within the E3000 that is preventing the file and printer sharing. I just can't figure out what it could be, and am at a point of returning it back to the store as defective. The extra N-speed is useless to me if my devices can't access the network shared content. Also, I tried to set up the UPnP media server feature of the E3000 by attaching USB storage and configuring it via the Linksys web based utility, but my media player is unable to access the content.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT-160N V3 / Connected With Limited Access

Nov 30, 2012

One of my computers suddenly is "connected with limited access" to my wireless network.  That computer is operating with Windows Vista.  The router I'm using as Model WRT-160N V3. My second computer, operating with Windows 7, has complete access; it's the computer on which I'm working right now. I have reset the router (unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds before plugging in again), and I have rebooted the other computer.  I suspect that somehow some of the applicable settings have been modified on the affected computer, but I don't have the knowledge about what the settings should be or where they are maintained.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Logging Access In E3000

Jun 11, 2011

I am using firmware version 1.0.04 build 6.I am having a few issues viewing the log; the incoming, outgoing and security logs are completely blank, the DHCP log is the only one populated.Even though it's populated, the time stamp displays the date as Jan 1 1970, time appears fine if I use UDT (Time is set to Mountain), the Router Status correctly displays the current time for my location.I vaguely remember the other logs worked with a previous firmware 1.0.03? Don't recall if the Date Time stamp was working correctly.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 - Cannot Access Website

Jul 25, 2011

I have comcast cable and a Linksys E3000 that has been pretty reliable.  I have a website that I use to send some information to.  Friday morning was the last time I could connect to this page.   I cannot hit it via web, ssh, or ftp or ping.  I can view it at work and on my 3g internet.  But no more from home.  I have determined that it has to be the router (straight connection into cable modem and I'm in).  I've reboot the router and even restored to factory spec, neither works.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can E3000 Work As Access Point Only

Jun 14, 2011

I needed the Guest access of wi-fi setup that LinkSysys routers provided. I don't need the router/modem i just want to have wi-fi access point. I'm an advanced user and i can work with manual setup etc.I tried to do a manual setup of the router, i changed the IP address to mask my network and enable wi-fi and worked BUT the guest access option is NOT available unless you use the stupid CISCO connect software.

Now the cisco connect software IS NOT working or complete the setup if you don't connect it through the router and gain Internet access which is IMPOSSIBLE for me to accomplish as my modem is connected to a firewall device and we are using static DSL options with PPPoE and usernameme/password. There is no way i can get cisco connect to load properly as it always "fixes my connection trying to gain Internet access".Is there any solution on manually properly setup this router and take full advantages of it capabilities or should i return it ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Behind ATT U-Verse / Cannot Access Internet

Feb 24, 2011

I can now access my router config pages when connected to my ATT router. However, I cannot seem to access the Internet when connected to my e3000; I just time out. I also have difficulties just connecting to my e300 for some reason. I have been connected a couple of times where i could access the Internet but it was only for a few minutes and it was very slow.I can't seem to put the router in the DMZ because the ATT router will only DMZ a DHCP-enabled device and the e3000 has a static IP (192.168.1.253). I have tried running the PING and Traceroute diagnostics and both just come back with Unknown Host no matter what URL i enter. The status page also appears as if the e3000 is not properly talking to the ATT router. Under the Internet Connection area it shows Connection Type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP then 0s for IP address, subnet, and gateway. the DNS entries are empty and the MTU shows 1500 and the DHCP Lease Time is also empty.  i am all ears and willing to try whatever. But i just want to be able to connect to my e3000 so i can utilize the wireless n internally and connect a 2TB external drive to share. But I also want to be able to get out to the Internet when i am connected to the device.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Unable To Access E3000 Via Https

Feb 29, 2012

I can not access my Linksys E3000 router via https://192.168.1.1.Before this mishap, I was able to gain access to my Linksys E3000 router via http://192.168.1.1 and/or the Cisco Connect software application on Windows 7. Yesterday, I went into my router's administration page and disabled http, and enabled https. I then closed out all browsers, restarted them and entered https://192.168.1.1

After that, I learned quickly I made a huge mistake to make these changes. I simply can not access my router admin wired or wirelessly. Accessing the internet works great, but router admin page is a no go.Firefox and IE states, "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." and was unable to proceed.Firefox even gave me the option to accept a security exemption to proceed, but that failed.

I have also tried using the Cisco Connect utility, and that also failed. I have taken these steps and not been able to access my router's admin page.I don't want to take the last final resort to reset my router and re-enter my settings again. I know I saved the router's backup file somewhere, but can't find it.Is there another way for me to gain access via https with http disabled? All I want to do now is go back in and change it back to enable http access.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Possible Remote Access To E3000 Unit

Jan 26, 2012

For a while now I've been thinking of setting up a (hopefully) secure remote access from a location outside of my local network. Since I'm going to be away from where I usually live for about six months due to the location of my Course that I'm going to study, I want to be able to remotely access the router if something were to happen. Up until this point, I've been doing the management through a Teamviewer 6/7 remote access with my home computer and connecting from the inside IP address (Example: 192.168.1.1), but it's going to be taken away so I wouldn't be able to do that this year. Is it possible to set up a secure telnet on a Linksys E3000 Wireless Unit that way I can control it through Command Prompt, or would I have to set up Remote Management Access to use the unit outside the network through programs like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Lose Access To Internet

Mar 2, 2012

I have had numerous issues with my E3000 since I got about two months ago and they have all been resolved with the exception of this new one that popped up today.

My Samsung Blu-ray player is connected firectly via ethernet cable to the router.  When it's on, I lose all conenctivity to the router with my wireless devices including three PC's, a PS3, two iPhones, one iPad, one Samsung Smart TV, one XBOX 360 and an Onkyo Receiver.  When I say that I lose connectivity, I don't mean that I lose access to the Internet.  My PC's see the network but cannot connect to it, the same goes for the Apple devices.  The moment I shut off the Samsung BD player it kicks right back on and works normally.  Until today, this never occurred.

I contacted Tech Support and they had never heard of this happening before.  They suggested that I change the ethernet cable which I did while the unit was on and it worked until I turned the BD player off and turned it back on again.  I also tried switching ports to no avail.  Alos all of the software is up to date on both the router and the BD player.

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Enable Guest Access Feature Of E3000

Dec 30, 2012

However, the ATT uverse has a gateway that combines the modem and router together, in order to use my e3000 instead of the built-in router of the gateway, I have done a LAN-to-LAN connection and I can access internet without any problem. But in this case, I can not enable my guest-access feature. When I use Cisco Connect to set up e3000, it says "cannot connect to your router". how to set up the guess-access feature of e3000 when using ATT uverse.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Driving Stake Through G Network?

Apr 4, 2013

Clearly there is something fundamental I do not understand about networks.  Until recently I was running a wrt54g with a network called (let's say) "G".  It was secured using WPA.

I just bought an E3000, set up a network (let's say "N") and disconnected the WRT54G.

Problem: Not only does the G network still show up among my wireless networks in Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04, but so does something called "G-guest".  Not only that, they show up as unsecured wireless networks.  Not only that, I can access them.

How do I drive a stake through the G network?  Even my bloody phone is connected to "G-guest", which shows up with the properties:

Status: Connected
Security: Open (How do I close this when I don't even have a hardware devices associated with the network???)
Link Speed: 65Mbps
IP address: 192.168.33.102
Proxy settings: None

If I disconnect from the "N" network and try to connect to the "G-guest" network, my browser directs to http://192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.cgi which displays a page with the Cisco logo against a blue background, a password text box, and the message Enter the guest access password to access the Internet. Ask the owner if you don't know the password. The guest access password can be found using Cisco Connect.  Of course, the password I had in place when I was running the "G" network on the WRT54G does not work.  This behavior occurs on both my laptop running Ubuntu and on my Android phone.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 / Connecting Devices To Network

Nov 12, 2010

I have 3 computers in total: 2 desktops and 1 laptop.

1. My primary PC is connected physically to my router.

2. My (downstairs) laptop is connected to the wireless.

3. My other PC connects to the wireless network via USB wireless adapter.

I was having issues getting #3 connected to the wireless network.  I used the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ PIN number provided to me by the Linksys Wireless Manager to no avail.  The E3000 router and #3 could never find each other. After calling support, it turns out that more often than not, "other" wirless management software (in my case Linksys  Wireless Manager that came with the USB device) was interfering with my Windows XP Wireless Manager.Rule of thumb: Always let your native operating system manage the wirless networks that are available to it.  It does a far better job and is 10x more reliable than software provided by 3rd party vendors.Specific to my case: Windows XP, I had to enable the Windows Wireless Manager and uninstall the Linksys Wireless Manager Software. Here it is...Enabling Windows Wireless Manager These directions are for Windows XP:

1) From the Windows Start menu, click Control Panel.

2) Click Network and Internet Connections.

3) Click Network Connections.

4) Right-click the icon for your "wireless network connection", then click Properties.

5) At the top of the window, click the Wireless Networks tab.

If the "Wireless Networks" tab does not appear between the "General" and "Advanced" tabs, you are not on/in the wireless network connection settings:a) click cancelb) Right-click the icon for your wireless connection and choose "Enable". c) return to step 4 6) Check the checkbox next to "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings".

These directions are for Windows Vista:
