I'm a court reporter trying to set up a connection between my laptop and my court reporting machine, which has built in wifi capabilities. My court house has public wifi but there is always some interference which causes transmission between my laptop and machine to freeze. I was told I could create my "own wifi" between my machine and laptop if i bought a router. is this possible with this hardware?I don't need the internet or want an internet connection. I have the internal modem in my laptop. I just want to provide a connection between my laptop and writing machine wirelessly. That is, data being sent back and forth between the two. (Like your headset and smartphone connected with Buetooth). I can use the Bluetooth method to connect the two, but I opted for wireless connection because Bluetooth still can have some interference when attorneys come in the courthouse building with a Blackberry smartphone. I heard this router will provide a secured, private wifi connection between my laptop and machine.It doesn't say anywhere in the instructions that how to do this or I just don't know which method to use this router for what I want to do. Is it WISP, AP or BRIDGE, etc...?

how to make hard reset to MR3420.I installed openwrt-mr3420-v2-HM2013-04-19 software to my router.and after that while the router restart the led green lights flashing on and of all the time.and I cant contact to the router with wifi or lan cable
I just had to get rid of a bad DIR-825 that I replaced a trusty old DIR-655 with and now I'm back. Anyhow, I can't seem to make the DDNS setting stick in the router. All of the information is correct, but it doesn't seem to want to login. When I click the enable check box, it tries connecting and then greys out and doesn't connect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new wireless router and I currently using my older dlink dir-524 wireless router in my home.eason in buying a new one is because currently the dlink router is in the family room use to be a garage and my wifes imac is in our bedroom the couple rooms down not next door or anything, and the imac and even our smartphones when in our bedroom the connection gets disconnected then reconnected etc etc, basically signal strength is low initially when connected to the router.

Is there any chance to make work HUAWEI E303C with MR3040?I know this model is not in the compatibility list, but when I try connect this modem with the router, it can be identified but it cant be connected. On the logs it appears that there is a problem with dial, APN, but I'm sure I'm introducing the correct values?

Unfortunately it isn't enough, if I type myPublicIp:8787 I can't access the website because I either get "connection reset" error or a timeout.I pluged my computer directly in my modem and it worked perfectly.To make a test, I tried to enable the router remote administration on the port 10001. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. At first, the only way we could get this to work was by skipping the router and plugging directly in to the modem. This is not ideal - so after receiving no response here to this question - I did the following - I put his PC (by IP) in a DMZ. This has done the trick - but will only work until the next time his IP address changes.

I have to block my kids access at times, and when I do this they simply change their IP address and they circumvent the blocking.Other than punishing the kids (which hasn't worked - and they need computers and Internet for homework), is there anyway to lock a computer to MAC address to IP address so if they change it they won't get network/internet access?I also tried to set up network filtering and I put in all the PCs and devices I wanted to provide access for, including the router, but when I save changes I can no longer access the internet or the router. I have to do factory reset to get back into router config.Also, I'm on 1.30WW. I know 1.34 exists, which I tried on a previous router which died and was replaced by RMA; but this didn't solve any problems.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. How I can perhaps forward ports and which settings I would need to specifically change in both routers admin settings so that I can get VPN connections to forward to my computer and be accepted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased a wireless bridge D-Link DAP-1522 (IP fix 192.168.0.50) to share the Internet connection to two remote devices: WD TV Live HD (IP fix 192.168.0.52) and a Samsung BD P2500 player (IP fix 192.168.0.51: to try the BD-Live) but when I plug it into my network I have an IP conflict and I can not navigate anywhere, even by the computer which control the Netgear router (IP 192.168.0.1 DHCP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.49).
I tried with all fixed IP (192.168.0.xxx Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1), but nothing to do, I have the same problem: after a few minutes after plugged the network cable into BD player the network falls.With wired connection (10 m of patch cable!!!) Samsung BD P2500 have no problem (DHCP and IP fix).
Then look closely in the information relating to devices connected to the Netgear router I noticed that all devices connected through the bridge DAP-1522 have the different IP but same MAC address and I think this could be the cause of the problem that creates the Blu Ray when it's connected to the network through the bridge, because he is not identified with any name but only as UNKNOWN as the bridge (a problem that WD Live not seen: same MAC address but is identified by name as WDTVLIVE).
How can I make the MAC addresses from the bridge will be recognized separately from my router/modem Netgear?In the settings of the bridge I noticed that you can enable or disable MAC address cloning, but if the off I would expect that cloning was not done and instead all the devices are identified by the Netgear router with the MAC address of the access bridge.The DAP-1522 masked the MAC address of device that are plugged into bridge.The router has the latest available firm while the original bridge has version 1.20 (the penultimate version available).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems when trying to host servers on games, etc.I have 2 routers. A modem router, which is a Thomson router. That is the main one. It has a wire connecting from it, to a D-Link router that is near my Computer, and my brother's one. Then that D-Link router has 2 wires from each port, to mine, and my brother's computer.So, I am trying to host games.I didn't connect to the Thomson one, which is also wireless. I am connected to the wired one (D-Link). When I try to host while connected to it, my brother, and other people can't find the server. My brother and me can find it on LAN, but not Internet.But when I disconnect from the Wired, and connect to the Thomson wireless one, and then when I host, I can find it on INTERNET. Even my brother can. He can connect to it perfectly.
I do not want to connect to the wireless, because then it will cause lag spikes every 5 minutes.So, when I disconnect from the wireless, and connect to the wire, I went into the CMD, and typed in ipconfig. I found out that the Default Gteway is the D-Link IP.When I connect to the wireless, and disconnect the wired, I went into CMD, and then the Default Gateway is the Thomson one, which is the main router.So what I want to do, is use the D-Link router, and that router will have the same IP as my thomson one, so that I can host perfectly with no lag spikes, and using a wired connection.
