I'd like to use an SG200 swicth to allocate bandwidth on a 100 Mbps fiber Internet uplink.I will have 5 routers (each supporting a separate network) connected to the SG200, and I'd like to give each network 20 Mbps. QOS configuration, best CIR and CBS settings for this.

I am pinging across the Wan to test the circuit and it is pinging fine with the default extended ping 5 repeat count and 100 Datagram size. I was told that I need to up the repeat count to 1000 and the datagram size to 17999 to test the line. Also when performing this test Txload is 255/255.Is this really needed to test the load on the line, that big of a datagram size?

I show up at this business. They have about 40-50 systems. They have a 2003 AD server with a router, and 4 switches. There is also a dvr system on the network for cameras. Each switch is daisy chained together. Everything is working correctly except for the fact that the network drops about 5 times a day. Before they called us, they would just unhook one switch and plug it back in and it would work. At first, we took that switch and exchanged it with another switch in a computer lab to see if just the computer lab goes down. If it did, then that switch was bad. That wasn't the case, the whole network still went down. We had already left, but when we go back, our first choice will to see if there is a loop anywhere within the switch that will flood the network. Then, we were going to see if there was a switch that was getting a lot of traffic on the network to try to track it down. How can u monitor the bandwidth on the switches? They are 24 port switches. The switch is fs750/24 switch.

I've been experiencing problems with internet speeds at my church and my home. They both have security keys, but many people use it. I was wondering - Is there a free tool to monitor who/which device is taking up all of the bandwidth? Something that kind of points out, "Hey, this guy is really slowing you down". Possibly even (But not necessarily) kill their connection?

Is there a way to limit a whole PC windows XP, or a certain program to use only a certain about of your total internet connection bandwidth? For example, I have 5 PCs in home all one the same ISP connection. I have one PC that I am trying to backup files online but I can only run it at certain times due to the backup program using ALL upload/download speed. And that makes every other PC super slow.

-Taking all of the bandwidth.
-My computer is causing it.
-Our Internet providers are Comcast(cable) for default and Frontier(DSL) for backup; business class.
-Normal: 6Mbps down, 4Mbps up; Abnormal: 0.4Mbps down, 0.2 up; around those numbers.
-Possibly a virus.
-Task-manager shows as much internet use as usual, even if it is apparent that my computer is using allot during that time.
-Random times.
-Might have settings allowing it to take however much broadband it wants, I do not know if there is such a setting or not.I only have a day or so before my dad cuts me from the internet.

I am trying to find out wether it is possible to allocate bandwidth on a per-vlan basis.
We have multiple satellite connections coming into our infrastructure over a single gig ethernet cable from another service provider. The provider provides the connectivity on layer 2 and we are responsible for layer 3 connectivity for the clients on the other side of the satellite connections. The single gig ethernet cable is currently plugging into a Mikrotik 1100 router on our side, setup with VLAN ID and IP Addresses and everything works perfectly. The challenge now is that whilst we only have the one satellite client connecting, we can limit the bandwidth on the ethernet port to 512k for example which limits the client to only have 512k internet breakout. In the future, we need to be able to limit bandwidth as multiple VLAN IDs will be coming over that single ethernet cable and I'm not sure if one can do this at all.

I want to switch to a slower ISP because of financial constraints (specifically downgrade from cable to DSL), so I'd like to set up my Windows XP computer so that it downloads and uploads at the same speed that the slower ISP does. That way I can kind of "try before I buy" for a week or so, to get an idea if I can live with the slower speed before disconnecting from cable and incurring a disconnect charge. I was told that some software that limits your bandwidth also may cause distortion in video or audio streams, so I'd like to avoid that.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been noticing high amounts of jitter and latency over my home network. I've come to some conclusions but am not 100% sure if they are correct or not. When one computer on the network opens a web page, loads a video off youtube or downloads something all of the computers on the network have considerably increased latency for a short period.I've tested 3 computers over WiFI watching ping commands and will show some below in a moment. Tested 1 computer using ethernet to connect to the router and its still affected by the issue. Ive also actually used the router to ping an outside source while the ping is increased and this is also affected. This has only been happening for the last 2 weeks.
Heres a list of hardware being used/software and os.
Windows 7 with a Belkin G enabled usb NIC
Windows XP with a realtek rtl8139/810x
Windows 7 (Friends laptop)
Router = Netgear dg834g
Settings
[code]...
So I've read up on QoS and understand that my router doesnt support it but I still dont understand how 1 person using youtube can affect my network that much. As before 2 weeks ago it did not affect it what so ever, and it didnt in my old house either. So what this means is that browsing is fine on the network, just whenever you try and play a game or anything that requires low latency anyone touching the network means you get massive jitter.

Recently I bought a new router and it works great but I'm still having bandwidth issues. On average there are 6 devices running at once, but only two of which do anything that takes up a significant amount of bandwidth and the router is a good distance away from my computer and my brothers (we do online computer gaming). Is there any way to increase the amount of bandwidth we get up here with out having to move the modem and router?

I live in rural Alaska and use satellite internet with 1.5mbps rate and 4gb rolling weekly download limit. I was wondering if there are any wireless routers I can buy that I can set a bandwidth limit for the specific router. Due to teenage girls in the house we hit the weekly limit in a day or two because of all the music videos and such that they watch on you tube, it is annoying getting limited to the 256kbps download rate so often.

Needless to say, every time I go to play a video game I get shitty ping and lots of lag. From what I've gathered, DD-WRT's QOS is ****, and Tomato is the way to go in 3rd party firmware.

Today I purchased a Gatway laptop from Best Buy. Here is all the information NV51B15U, 4GB DDR3 Memory, AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350, 250 GB HDO. My internet is Virgin Mobile EVDO Mobile Broadband. I have know knowledge of computers or this USB internet I have. When I try to go onto Youtube to watch videos the video will play for about 2 sec stop and starts to buff the play then stop and so on. I have java and flash player 10 installed. I was told that I may need to go through another internet provider as the speed from the USB cord will never get any faster. Is this true? Is there something I can do to be able to watch videos without having to wait 10-15 minutes for it to load?
