May 29, 2012I would like to know how I can split bandwidth between 4 work floors that have different needs. I have a network switch that can be managed (Cisco) but am not sure how I can set this up.

Sep 19, 2012I have a 20MB internet connection, with a 100GB cap. My mother works at home, with some employees. Adding home and work, 8 people use the internet all the time. Lots of Youtube videos, streaming netflix, iTunes downloading, and so on.I wanted something to:
1) Manage this cap. It's over too soon, and we're left with a poor internet connection until the end of the month - like 500kb.
2) Something to manage two internet connections.
I was thinking about a dedicated router - I currently use a WRT54G V8, which is nice, but it has some issues handling the traffic when the internet is in its full glory. I heard about pfSense, and some searches on Google tell me it's possible to do both options using it.

Jul 29, 2011I have an internet connection (landline and wifi modem) at my parent's summerhouse as I need it for work. Nobody else does around here so I get constant nagging from neighbours to give them the password. I can't say no however I'm afraid they may use up too much of my bandwith connection which could lead to alot of money being lost from my part. Constant and stable internet is a must for my work. how can I limit the bandwith I give to them? Can I create a second public network with limited bandwith or something like that?

Jun 13, 2013I have a known working configuration with many sites and one operative center that receives all communications.The connection OF THE OLD SITE is here detailed:Now I need to integrate another site. The difference between the old site and the new site is the following:
-old site communicates with the operative center by means of the FE0/1 or by means of an HWIC4T serial interface.
old site automatically switches between the tunnel on the ethernet interface (FE0/1) and the serial channel giving priority to the ethernet tunnel.
-new site will communicate with the operative center by means of the FE0/1 or by means of a transceiver device connected on the FE0/0.
-both new site and old site have a LAN on the FE0/0 where data is generated and sent to the router to be dispached to the best available channel.
The connection of THE NEW SITE is here detailed: the old site was configured this way: [code]
the first line means that everything starting from the client directed to 192.169.0.2 it will be sent on the tunnel1.the second line tries to route the same packets on serial0/0/0 with low priority.On the New site i did the same:
i created the tunnel form my cisco 2811 to the operative center using the FE0/1, then i added the following:ip route 192.169.0.2 255.255.255.255 Tunnel1
This works as expected routing the packets to the operative center on the FE0/1.Now I miss the second part: route packets on the FE0/0 to the ip address 192.168.1.31 WITH LOW PRIORITY like i did on the old site.
I did some tries but no one solves. Which is, in your opinion, the right command to add on the cisco2811 in order to get the equivalent of what i did on the old site ( ip route 192.169.0.2 255.255.255.255 Serial0/0/0 10 ) ?

Jul 21, 2011I have VOIP and was provided a modem, a Tilgen Router (Vood 452_A). I also currently have a Linksys WRT54G router. I also have a home surveillance system with a DVR that can be accessed via the net. I am trying to allow the ports to open so that traffic can navigate down to the DVR.My IPs:My VOIP has provided me with 6 static IP addresses. For sake of this issue they are:
67.xx.xxx.153, through .158My subnetmask is set to:
255.255.255.248My Settings:
The Modem is connected to world. To the modem I have the Tilgen Router connected. The Tilgen is set with an ip of .153 and the subnetmask listed above. DHCP is turned on and has IP range set for .154-.158. It is set in Bridge Mode with NAT and Firewall turned off. To that I have the WRTG54G router connected and assigned the router an Static IP of .154.. The cable is going into the Linksys WAN port.From a computer connected to a LAN port on the WRT54G, I see my public IP as .154, currently my internal IP is 192.168.1.15 so I believe I have to assign one of my Static IPs to this PC, however when I try to connect to the Linksys Router (.154) from the outside web, I am get a time out error. (also from a ping test.) My thoughts are to assign the Linksys to DHCP and use a range of .155-.158 to give each lan item a static IP. My question is will this work? Will each item in the network have its own IP and if I forward the port to the DVR that i needed, ie 80 for web client or 6100 for desktop client, will that forward through?Or do I set it to Router Mode and use the Tilgen to assign the ips.
On the Tilgen I also have an option for a DHCP relay or to turn off DHCP.
For clarification here is the setup chain
Broadband/DSL Line>>Tilgen Modem>>(LANPort1)Tilgen Router(LAN Port2)>>(WAN) Linksys(LANPort1)>>DVR/Computers
Found this walkthrough on setting the WRT54G into a Switch. If I did this, in theory the VOOD would assign those computers/dvr connected downstream via the WRT54G a static ip from my range set on the router. Then in theory I would not need to port forward port 80 since the DVR would be on its own public IP.?
