Is it safe to manage an 891 router across the Internet using Cisco Configuration Professional 2.4? If so, a few pointers on enabling and configuring it. If not, I assume setting up a VPN to the router then using CCP across the VPN would be the preferred approach.

We have just replaced a 4507R for a 4507R-E but I can't RME to manage it. I also can't get Cisco View to work. We appear to have packages installed (see attachments).
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot?

I have setup WCS logins to be managed by ACS 4.2 . I was looking over the docs and I appear to be missing something because I can't find any documentation on doing the same to the controllers. I did successfully lock myself out of the WiSM in the lab during some testing. I had to pull the plug on the lab ACS to allow local login.

is it possible to manage a air-ap1262n with a controller like wlc 5500 or wlc 2500? the official cisco support could not answer me this question for sure. i have found this old guide to upgrade ap´s to lap´s, but there is hothing about the 1260 in it. [URL]
i am a little bit confused!
the cisco documents tells:
"at_a_glance_c45-636090.pdf"
A wireless network with standalone access points offers a low-cost, entry-level solution that does not require a controller. It is ideal for small-scale networks with less than 20 access points, and offers base-level wireless functionality with the flexibility to scale and add services over time by adding a controller.

Setting up SNMP on my Cisco AP's (1242AG Lightweight). How do I manage these via SNMP? It doesn't appear there is any settings within each AP for SNMP but only on the 4400 controller. What I am trying to do is setup Solarwinds Alerts, so when an AP goes down, I get notified of it. How or where this gets setup on the 4400 or the AP. I'm guessing there is something probably on the 4400 that I setup.

I am new to the 4710 appliance.Apart from the 4 GE 'data' ports, there are 2 Ethernet 'management' ("console") ports. I find the description in the "quick start guide"somewhat confusing. URL, Is a first-time serial connection (at least to run the initial config. script) mandatory? Or can you obtain the same result via one of the 2 Ethernet management ports and using a default ip address (192.168.1.10 ? When running the initial config. script (only possible from the serially connected console i suppose), you have to select your management port. Why does the system in step 5 proposes you 4 ports, and not just 2? I suppose the intended port for management is one of the 2 management ports, not one of the 4 data ports?

I have a known working configuration with many sites and one operative center that receives all communications. The connection OF THE OLD SITE is here detailed:Now I need to integrate another site. The difference between the old site and the new site is the following:
-old site communicates with the operative center by means of the FE0/1 or by means of an HWIC4T serial interface.
old site automatically switches between the tunnel on the ethernet interface (FE0/1) and the serial channel giving priority to the ethernet tunnel.
-new site will communicate with the operative center by means of the FE0/1 or by means of a transceiver device connected on the FE0/0.
-both new site and old site have a LAN on the FE0/0 where data is generated and sent to the router to be dispached to the best available channel.
The connection of THE NEW SITE is here detailed: the old site was configured this way: [code]
the first line means that everything starting from the client directed to 192.169.0.2 it will be sent on the tunnel1.the second line tries to route the same packets on serial0/0/0 with low priority. On the New site i did the same:
i created the tunnel form my cisco 2811 to the operative center using the FE0/1, then i added the following:ip route 192.169.0.2 255.255.255.255 Tunnel1
This works as expected routing the packets to the operative center on the FE0/1.Now I miss the second part: route packets on the FE0/0 to the ip address 192.168.1.31 WITH LOW PRIORITY like i did on the old site.
I did some tries but no one solves. Which is, in your opinion, the right command to add on the cisco2811 in order to get the equivalent of what i did on the old site ( ip route 192.169.0.2 255.255.255.255 Serial0/0/0 10 ) ?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. I was trying to get into the set up (using the IP listed in here [URL]) and it asked for a username and password. I have what I thought was the password but no idea what the username was. I tried Administrator and what I had written down as the password but nada. This was originally set up 9 years ago and 3 pc's ago.On the bottom of the router is listed Ownership ID, Device ID, and a serial numb.

I have a 20MB internet connection, with a 100GB cap. My mother works at home, with some employees. Adding home and work, 8 people use the internet all the time. Lots of Youtube videos, streaming netflix, iTunes downloading, and so on.I wanted something to:
1) Manage this cap. It's over too soon, and we're left with a poor internet connection until the end of the month - like 500kb.
2) Something to manage two internet connections.
I was thinking about a dedicated router - I currently use a WRT54G V8, which is nice, but it has some issues handling the traffic when the internet is in its full glory. I heard about pfSense, and some searches on Google tell me it's possible to do both options using it.

Mgmt Vlan 1 (default) Data VLan 10 (with access to internet) Is there a way to have a PC attached to a SG300 switch such that it can both access Vlan 10 for data and Vlan 1 for managment ? The PC's port clearly needs to be untagged PVID on vlan 10. I have tried adding vlan 1T and setting the port as a trunk port but to no avail, The switch is currently level 2. I am guessing this might not be possible in level 2 without setting the mgmt vlan to 10 ?.

We have the following proplem with the RV 120w router with the last firmware. We can't manage to set up port forwarding. So the situation is like this: we have WAN ip: 192.168.2.68 and our router connects to VPN server and gets an IP like 10.0.10.X. In the inner network we have PCs and a DVR (digital video recorder) with ip 192.168.1.215. Our DVR uses 3 main ports like 81 (http) and 37777 (tcp), 37778 (udp) and we try to make port forwarding with the router interface like the manual says (look and the sceenshot). But when we try to enter our DVR and see the picture from the outside network (we type in browser 192.168.2.68:81) nothing happends. It just dosen't work.
Before cisco we used d-link router and everything worked just fine with the same port forwarding rules. So we need to enter WAN address in Cisco and show the 81 port in the address bar and see the picture from the DVR 192.168.1.215 from the inner network.

I want to use Cisco VPN Client to VPN to my SA520 to manage a UC320W. I can establish a VPN connection to the SA and ping both the SA and a switch that I have on the network, but I cannot ping my UC. I've set up firewall rules to allow ANY-ANY access from LAN-WAN, and a WAN-LAN rule to allow a certain range of IP addresses (the IP addresses assigned from the VPN DHCP pool, in this case, 192.168.12.x) access to the UC.
My SA IP address is 192.168.75.1 and my UC is 192.168.75.2 (I can ping both when I am directly connected to a LAN port on either equipment).

So what we do when we get new laptops, we "prime" it by connecting to the lan via a cable, name the machine and join the domain. This way it automatically gets the certificate and is a domain member. After logging on at least once via a cable, we can then disconnect it and join the wireless network.
During a routine audit, they suggest also using MAC address filtering. I think this is overkill and an administrative nightmare. To manage MAC address filtering on the 5508 and then also manage the domain accounts is unnecessary. Also down the road we want to offer a segregated public hotspot (webauth), and I'm not sure if MAC address filtering would affect that or not.
I've read that MAC address filtering is pretty much useless, because it's so easy to change your mac address even in Windows device manager. I know I was able to do it as a test.
is MAC address filtering worth the hassle to implement and manage? Or is our current layered security approach enough?

I have an older RV016 that has been running 3.0.0.19-tm. Yesterday I tried to upgrade the firmware to 4.0.3.03-tm, but the operation timed out. After an hour or so my browser still displayed "page cannot be displayed". When I navigated back to the main screen, it still showed 3.0.0.19-tm.
I supposed I should have quit while I was ahead, but then I loaded the 3.0.2.01-tm firmware. This was successful. However, I was getting SSL certificate errors (not from a trusted authority), so I turned off SSL in the router options.
Now I cannot connect to the router via http or https. I can connect via telnet. Is there a way to re-enable SSL from the command line? Or is there another way to restore web management short of doing a factory reset? (I have several VPN connections that would be painful to recreate.)
