Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Connect Cloud SSID Option Enable?

View 5 RepliesI know this is a "home" router, but there are a lot of common vulnerabilities that can be detected.
1. Is there any intent to offer a firmware update for the Non Cloud Connect option.
2. Does Cisco intend to make the Cloud Connect Firmware "feature complete" compared to the Non Cloud Connect?
3. Is there going to be support for Stateful DHCPv6?
Keep having trouble with login onto my router (EA4500)Every now and then it will work but more often than not when I try to access it using either myrouter.local or 192.168.1.1, I keep getting an unexpected error message in the middle of the screen and it will go no further. Or I get no error and just a blue background with no icons or anything.
I tried going back in the firmware to what it was when I bought the device which is non-cloud (Ver.2.0.37.131047), but when I did that, I was logging into the router perfectly but had no internet access at all even tho all the gateway and dns details were present on the status page for the internet.
I've put it back to the cloud firmware (Ver.2.1.38.138880) and i'm back to these login problems again so I tried as per request with a cisco advisor in live chat to totally reset the router using the reset button at the back. Oh that caused problems getting things back online as every time I tried to access the interface I got a 502 error. I managed to get back online using the cisco disc that came with the router but now I'm back to square 1 with these access problems to the router.
I just can't see what is wrong here, it was fine prior to it updating itself to the cloud software, but it has been problem galore ever since.I am running Ubuntu Linux and have tried both firefox and chrome browsers which doesn't seem to matter.I have tried my sons laptop running vista which gets the same problem.I have tried disconnecting everything else on my network apart from my PC (the linux one) which is ethernet cabled direct to the router. The cloud app for my HTC does work but has very limited settings and runs extremely slow.
Might be worth mentioning that this morning when I tried accessing from google chrome, in the error box also popped up the following message, 'error_get_networks', this is the first time I saw this message so don't know if its of any relevance. I do have set in the settings that my DHCP server starts at 192.168.1.201 and most of the computers in my house have a static IP address so I don't believe anything is clashing to cause any errors.
My EA4500 router now automatically goes to Cisco Connect Cloud, and I can no longer access my router directly through my browser. I do not want to use Cisco Connect Cloud, for security reasons, so how can I disable the automatic access to the cloud? Use of the Cisco Connect Cloud should be optional, and not mandatory. If the cloud is the only way I will be allowed to make changes in my router, I may just have to return it to the store. Can this "feature" be turned off?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a EA4500 for my home network. After hours of searching, I couldn't find any evidence to how I can install a USB printer without the obvious Cisco Cloud Connect. I don't need any software or account to access my router over the net nor any of the features CCC provides (at least as of yet). I'm quite comfortable with using the web interface and easily managed to adjust the router for everything I need except the printer part. I certainly have things to print so I have to connect my printer to the router as it is clearly mentioned on its box that I can access my printer through it. As a last resort I tried to install the software on the CD that came with it to get a link for some "Cisco VUSB" software which I think is the solution but it keeps saying my modem is not connected to the net. It clearly isn't because I don't have an internet connection at home. What I have is a 3G connection which I use for communicating and downloads I need. So why do I need an internet connection on the router for anything and how do I install my printer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedInstalled my new EA4500 and trying to access my PC from internet (remote desktop) in order to do so I need to forward the TCP port 3389. In the old web admin page this option was easy to find and change. with the new cloud connect I can't find it. how do Ienable port forwarding on the EA4500?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have EA4500 router with latest firmware update. Cisco Connect Cloud behave strange. Some devices connected to the wireless router appear in CCC and some not. For instance, Iphone is visible, Ipad is not but both have normal accesss to internet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen. It is very strange.
At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products
and below that:
Sign In If you have not yet created an account, click the 'Create Account' button in the upper right corner of the page
There is a help button, a button to create an account. There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.
Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet. Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?
Is it possible to force a reboot of the EA4500 through the Cisco app for the Cloud?

Yet, I have the 2.4GHz G/N network set up to not broadcast my SSID and I have no problems. Why can't I disable my SSID broadcast on the 5GHz N network without these problems?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had a SSID name conflict with one of my devices and the router. I changed the routers SSID which eliminated the conflict. I noted that after changing the SSID, the name of the FTP server did not update to the new SSID. Is this an issue? I did not see any way to manually edit the FTP name. FTP works fine as is.
View 1 Replies View Relatedjust bought the EA4500 new, setup the router with computer plug-in RJ45, after I change my network network to "LinksysOne", I can connect to the network wireless. But when I connect it with hard wire/RJ45, it shows "cisco27205", but I cannot see "cisco27205" with wifi, neither with RJ45 connection cannot see "LinksysOne". Why this happen? is this normal?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe EA4500 web-settings application asks for a username and password. The username is "admin" and the password is my long (60 character) wpa key. I see where I can change the password but it says I'll lose all wireless connections. This doesn't make sense to me. I would think the router administration username and password are completely separate from the ssid and wpa key. This was the case with my earlier LinkSys router. I'd like a router administration username to be something other than the generic "admin" and a password that is easier than my long wpa key. I want a separate ssid and wpa key (what I currently have).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis issue seems to happen about once every week or so. I get the router settings all configured and I'm able to access it from Cloud Connect and from the APP on my smartphone. After about a week, it's no longer accessible from cloudconnect, I can access it from my smartphone, but it shows that there are no devices connected (when they are actually connected). The screen for cloudconnect will come up after I sign in, but it just has the circling dots in the center of the screen saying "waiting" and it will do this until I close out explorer. The only way I've found to resolve this is to reset the router and set everything from scratch.

The old router shows as:CiscoA3518 [offline]
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know that Cisco Cloud Connect was released fairly recently. I also know that the e4200v2 was supposed to be a supported router from last generation for Cisco Cloud Connect. However, when I go to the upgrade firmware option on my router settings, it says that I have the most up to date firmware.
How do I get CIsco Cloud Connect setup on my e4200v2? Would I simply follow the manual install instructions for the ea4500 with the firmware for the ea4500?
I'm hoping that the updated firmware will fix an issue I'm having with getting a Seagate Expansion hard drive detected for the media server portion since I know a closely related hard drive was in the list of functioning external hard drives for the Cisco Connect Cloud firmware.
Before upgrading my firmware on my EA2700, I can easily reserve IP address for my wired device. With the new cloud interface, I click to select the device from the top pane to bring it down in the reserved IP pane below. When I try to save the IP change I get two errors: 1) Invalid characters in the device name 2) Invalid IP address. I get the same errors even if I do not edid not edit the name or IP address.
As for the device name, I did not change anything or rename the device. One device has a " - " in the name and the router was happy with it until I tried to reserve the IP. Another one had a " ' " in the name, same problem again.
My network DHCP range is set to 192.168.1.200 to 192.168.1.250 and I use the range from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.100 for static IP. When I tried to reserve a static IP below 192.168.1.200, the router say that is an invalid IP.
The workaround to this problem has been to temporary set the DHCP range to 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.50 and set the static IP in that range and rename the devices to a name that the EA2700 will accept. Next I move the DHCP range from 192.168.1.50 to 192.168.1.100 and repeat the process. After, all the static IP are assigned, then I can reset the DHCP range to 192.168.1.200 to 192.168.1.250.
This is a pain to do. In the previous (cloud less) version, this was a breeze to do. Also, I have not figured out how to redirect ports with the new interface. Is that progress?
I just purchased an EA3500 because I absolutely need guest access. I set everything up through the Cisco Connect application on the CD and all was well. I figured it's time to get into the whole cloud connect app thing, as this is why I chose this router over another but after creating the account and activating through email, I constantly get the message that I need to associate my router with my account. The PC I am using is directly connected to the router through a cable. I'm not sure what else I am to do at this point. The content of the entire message basically is telling me to head to [URL] with the PC connected to the router that I want associated and to follow the directions.
1. There are no directions... I get that message every time.
2. I've tried rebooting the router and then logging in to the website - that gives me a message saying there's no router detected, meaning that somehow the site IS detecting the router, I just somehow haven't associated it.
I have had the EA 3500 router for about three months.
The Parental Control of Cisco Connect Cloud block all site except YouTube ! I have the Parental Controls set up to "Block the Internet" at "Specific Times". The other popular sites are blocked: Facebook, The Chive, Tumblr, etc. But for some reason she is still about to view YouTube all day long!
It has the latest firmware. I spent about three hours on the phone with Cisco tech support about this. They uninstalled and re-installed the router - it still doesn't work!
how can enable addressing ipv6 in router linksys EA4500? I need access on the terminal of router?

I recently got a Motorola NVG510 (from AT&T, they changed our internet plan and sent a new router) and since then I've had problems with Skype. I think I've narrowed the problem down to there being no upnp on this router to enable, and Skype doesn't like that. So, is there any way I can make this option available, or some other way to 'simulate' upnp so Skype will play nice? I read somewhere else that "IP Passthrough" may be an option, but I'm unsure about that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust purchased a ea4500 router. Have setup multiple computers/devices already and works great. This computer (HP dv6000 running Win Vista home prem) however will not connect to the internet. It states that it is connected to the router (computer sees router), using the cloud connect app on my iphone i can see this computer, but will not allow access to the internet (local connection only). It works fine with the wired connection. When attempting to use the cloud connect software, it says it was unable to complete the install. Have attempted trying while connected by wire as well, same result. Have deleted the wireless connection and allowed software to find connection, still same result, cannot install. Wireless worked perfectly with previous router (WRT54G) three days ago.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my router's firmware automatically. Then I wasn't able to connect to ciscoconnectcloud. I then thought It might be better to do the upgrade manually, so I downloaded the classic firmware, and rolled it back. I then downloaded the Smart Wifi firmware and the Smart Wifi setup software and did the manual upgrade. Now, I'm able to connect when I use the old 192.168.1.1 address, but not to ciscoconnectcloud.com, and even then I had to refresh a couple of times to get it to work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using my EA4500 since it's original launch date as a PPPoE router through another router/modem which is the Netgear DG834G V4 set to Modem Only mode which was working fine for a long time!A month ago, a friend wanted to borrow the Netgear Router and after he gave it back I reset it like I always do and entered my settings in router mode(i.e. username and password) to check if I havewe working Internet connection and that the router is working properly and it was working properly like it was before I lent it. Now comes the problem, if I keep using the Netgear router as the PPPoE handler and make the EA4500 work as "Automatic Configuration DHCP" it works flawlessly but if I set the Netgear router to modem mode and make the EA4500 handle the PPPoE connection, the report in the troubleshooting tab keeps on saying "Connecting" endlessly!
Note: I've replicatedthe settings that I used on both router before and after lending it to my friend so there's no difference in settings!
