Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Cisco Connect Cloud

Jul 22, 2012

Keep having trouble with login onto my router (EA4500)Every now and then it will work but more often than not when I try to access it using either myrouter.local or 192.168.1.1, I keep getting an unexpected error message in the middle of the screen and it will go no further.  Or I get no error and just a blue background with no icons or anything.

I tried going back in the firmware to what it was when I bought the device which is non-cloud (Ver.2.0.37.131047), but when I did that, I was logging into the router perfectly but had no internet access at all even tho all the gateway and dns details were present on the status page for the internet.

I've put it back to the cloud firmware (Ver.2.1.38.138880) and i'm back to these login problems again so I tried as per request with a cisco advisor in live chat to totally reset the router using the reset button at the back.  Oh that caused problems getting things back online as every time I tried to access the interface I got a 502 error.  I managed to get back online using the cisco disc that came with the router but now I'm back to square 1 with these access problems to the router.

I just can't see what is wrong here, it was fine prior to it updating itself to the cloud software, but it has been problem galore ever since.I am running Ubuntu Linux and have tried both firefox and chrome browsers which doesn't seem to matter.I have tried my sons laptop running vista which gets the same problem.I have tried disconnecting everything else on my network apart from my PC (the linux one) which is ethernet cabled direct to the router. The cloud app for my HTC does work but has very limited settings and runs extremely slow.

Might be worth mentioning that this morning when I tried accessing from google chrome, in the error box also popped up the following message, 'error_get_networks', this is the first time I saw this message so don't know if its of any relevance.  I do have set in the settings that my DHCP server starts at 192.168.1.201 and most of the computers in my house have a static IP address so I don't believe anything is clashing to cause any errors.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Disable Cisco Connect Cloud

Jun 26, 2012

My EA4500 router now automatically goes to Cisco Connect Cloud, and I can no longer access my router directly through my browser. I do not want to use Cisco Connect Cloud, for security reasons, so how can I disable the automatic access to the cloud? Use of the Cisco Connect Cloud should be optional, and not mandatory. If the cloud is the only way I will be allowed to make changes in my router, I may just have to return it to the store. Can this "feature" be turned off?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 USB Printer Without Cisco Cloud Connect

Oct 20, 2012

I recently purchased a EA4500 for my home network. After hours of searching, I couldn't find any evidence to how I can install a USB printer without the obvious Cisco Cloud Connect. I don't need any software or account to access my router over the net nor any of the features CCC provides (at least as of yet). I'm quite comfortable with using the web interface and easily managed to adjust the router for everything I need except the printer part. I certainly have things to print so I have to connect my printer to the router as it is clearly mentioned on its box that I can access my printer through it. As a last resort I tried to install the software on the CD that came with it to get a link for some "Cisco VUSB" software which I think is the solution but it keeps saying my modem is not connected to the net. It clearly isn't because I don't have an internet connection at home. What I have is a 3G connection which I use for communicating and downloads I need. So why do I need an internet connection on the router for anything and how do I install my printer?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Firmware Update For Non Cloud Connect Option

Oct 31, 2012

I know this is a "home" router, but there are a lot of common vulnerabilities that can be detected.

1. Is there any intent to offer a firmware update for the Non Cloud Connect option.

2. Does Cisco intend to make the Cloud Connect Firmware "feature complete" compared to the Non Cloud Connect?

3. Is there going to be support for Stateful DHCPv6?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - How To Turn Off Cisco Connect Cloud Login Screen

Jun 26, 2012

I tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen.  It is very strange.

At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products

and below that:

Sign In If you have not yet created an account, click the 'Create Account' button in the upper right corner of the page

There is a help button, a button to create an account.  There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.

Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet.  Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 And CISCO Cloud Connect

Feb 9, 2013

This issue seems to happen about once every week or so.  I get the router settings all configured and I'm able to access it from Cloud Connect and from the APP on my smartphone.  After about a week, it's no longer accessible from cloudconnect, I can access it from my smartphone, but it shows that there are no devices connected (when they are actually connected).  The screen for cloudconnect will come up after I sign in, but it just has the circling dots in the center of the screen saying "waiting" and it will do this until I close out explorer.  The only way I've found to resolve this is to reset the router and set everything from scratch.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Updating E4200 V2 To Cisco Cloud Connect?

Jul 7, 2012

I know that Cisco Cloud Connect was released fairly recently. I also know that the e4200v2 was supposed to be a supported router from last generation for Cisco Cloud Connect. However, when I go to the upgrade firmware option on my router settings, it says that I have the most up to date firmware.

How do I get CIsco Cloud Connect setup on my e4200v2? Would I simply follow the manual install instructions for the ea4500 with the firmware for the ea4500?

I'm hoping that the updated firmware will fix an issue I'm having with getting a Seagate Expansion hard drive detected for the media server portion since I know a closely related hard drive was in the list of functioning external hard drives for the Cisco Connect Cloud firmware.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 / Connect Cloud And DHCP Reservation

Jul 3, 2012

Before upgrading my firmware on my EA2700, I can easily reserve IP address for my wired device. With the new cloud interface, I click to select the device from the top pane to bring it down in the reserved IP pane below. When I try to save the IP change I get two errors: 1) Invalid characters in the device name 2) Invalid IP address. I get the same errors even if I do not edid not edit the name or IP address.

As for the device name, I did not change anything or rename the device. One device has a " - " in the name and the router was happy with it until I tried to reserve the IP. Another one had a " ' " in the name, same problem again.

My network DHCP range is set to 192.168.1.200 to 192.168.1.250 and I use the range from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.100 for static IP. When I tried to reserve a static IP below 192.168.1.200, the router say that is an invalid IP.

The workaround to this problem has been to temporary set the DHCP range to 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.50 and set the static IP in that range and rename the devices to a name that the EA2700 will accept. Next I move the DHCP range from 192.168.1.50 to 192.168.1.100 and repeat the process. After, all the static IP are assigned, then I can reset the DHCP range to 192.168.1.200 to 192.168.1.250.

This is a pain to do. In the previous (cloud less) version, this was a breeze to do. Also, I have not figured out how to redirect ports with the new interface. Is that progress?

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 - Unable To Access Cisco Cloud Connect

Jul 1, 2012

I just purchased an EA3500 because I absolutely need guest access. I set everything up through the Cisco Connect application on the CD and all was well. I figured it's time to get into the whole cloud connect app thing, as this is why I chose this router over another but after creating the account and activating through email, I constantly get the message that I need to associate my router with my account. The PC I am using is directly connected to the router through a cable. I'm not sure what else I am to do at this point. The content of the entire message basically is telling me to head to [URL] with the PC connected to the router that I want associated and to follow the directions.

1. There are no directions... I get that message every time.

2. I've tried rebooting the router and then logging in to the website - that gives me a message saying there's no router detected, meaning that somehow the site IS detecting the router, I just somehow haven't associated it.

Force All Web Traffic Through Separate Linksys WRG54G Router / Gateway For Content Filtering?

Oct 24, 2012

I have two devices: One is a Linksys WRG54G router. The other is a PC running the Smoothwall router software with URL filtering. Either would work fine on its own as a router. I'm wanting to use them both, though, because each offers different features.Right now, the Linksys router is connected to the WAN and is my DHCP server. Its IP is 192.168.0.1. The Smoothwall box has a static IP of 192.168.0.2. I want all web traffic to go through Smoothwall (192.168.0.2) because it offers good web filtering.

I know I could use Smoothwall as my router and rid of the Linksys, but the whole idea behind this is to use the QoS and other features that Linksys firmwares offer (such as Tomato or DD-WRT), but still keep the ability to filter URLs.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1000 Reboot Is Always Hit Or Miss

Jul 23, 2012

my E1000 will slow down and, as I've done with other routers, I'll typically unplug it for about 20 seconds and reboot it. However, with my E1000, about 9 out of 10 times, after I plug it back in, the four port lights on the the left will dimly flash but I get no activity on the three right blue lights (the wifi, internet and power buttons) and thus no wifi or internet.

For example, this morning I unplugged the router and modem, plugged the modem back in and waited for the modem activity lights to start flashing and then plugged in the router. The four blue  port lights on left side flashed very dimly but no other activity. I unplugged it and re-plugged it in about 10 times and finally, the lights on the right side popped on and all was well.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200V2 Slowness That Goes Away After Reboot

Jan 19, 2012

I'm experiencing significant slowness with my E4200V2 that is resolved after a reboot. Here is a pre/post reboot ping:

C:Users
eil>ping www.google.comPinging www.l.google.com [74.125.115.106] with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 74.125.115.106: bytes=32 time=1275ms TTL=52Reply from 74.125.115.106: bytes=32 time=994ms TTL=52Reply from 74.125.115.106: bytes=32

[Code]....

As you can see, the results indicate that the reboot fixes the issue, and the difference is significant and noticeable. I find that I need to reboot the router once every few days. My old router, a WRT54GL, was rock solid with the same ISP (I'm in an apartment and plug a LAN cable directly into the wall. What happens beyond that - I don't know. I think there's wireless involved somewhere, though.).

Clearly, rebooting the router resolves the issue. Since my old WRT54GL worked flawlessly, I suspect it's the router. Because the delay seems to happen between the router and the ISP, the possibilty remains that it's an issue on the ISP side. However, that seems unlikely given the stability I saw with the WRT54GL.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Connection Slows Down Until A Reboot

Apr 19, 2010

When connecting wirelessly (5GHz) to the E3000 after a day or so the wireless connection starts loosing speed.  I have Comcast and usually get 20-30 MB download connections.  After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000.  Then I resume 20-30MB download connections.  My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down.  I'm doing my speed test with [URL]

The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s.  Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea.  They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Need To Reboot / WiFi Speed Crawls

Aug 3, 2011

I am running an E3000 router with 1.0.04 build 6  Dec 6, 2010 firmware. I have two computers on a wired Gigabit LAN and others on WiFi (802.11g). At first, all works well and I get normal throughput via the WiFi computers. However, after about a week, WiFi speeds crawl to a fraction of what I normally get (from 12-13 Mbps down to 1-2 Mbps and from 4.8 Mbps up to less than 1 Mbps). My cable modem service is 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (I get 38.9 down and 4.9 up via the LAN based computers)

How I resolve this? I need to reboot the router!  Once it comes back on-line, my throughput on WiFi is restored UNTIL the following week where speeds are back to a crawl. While WiFi crawls, the LAN based computers still enjoy maximum throughput.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4500 Reboot Takes Half Hour

Not sure if I have a defective router, but if I unplug it I then need to wait at least a half hour to plug it back in. Anytime sooner and it won't broadcast a SSID or connect to the modem. This is a huge inconvenience if you want to change router settings and then you need to restart.
