Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g How To Set Up New Valet M-10

Dec 11, 2011

how i should set up my new valet m-10.Im currently using a WRT54G as my main router connected to my modem in my home office, and a WAP54 set up as a repeater in the living Room. We have multiple devices still using Wireless G, and a few that have Wireless N so im wanting to use the valet just for my N devices and My WRT54 & WAP54 for the G. So do I just cascade the valet off the WRT54? or should I make the Valet the main Router and cascade the G routers? the reason I have the repeater is because the wireless signal is weak in the living room and bedrooms.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Valet Plus M20 Stopped Working Suddenly

May 30, 2012

My M20 Valet Plus stopped working suddenly last night.  Now no power lights will come on and it now longer transmitts as a connection point . No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck?  Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.

Cisco Valet Wireless Connection Only Works In The Same Room With The Router?

If I step outside the office in my house where the router is hardwired to my desktop, I still see there is a strong signal but no device is able to connect to the internet wirelessly. I can connect with my laptop or my iPhone from inside the office.I spent a couple hours and some dollars with the Cisco tech people and all they could tell me is - must be a hardware problem and it's not under warranty.They dialed in remotely so I know the setup is right.This has been going on for months.

Cisco Valet Router / Internet Network Connection Lost On Laptop

Jan 14, 2012

I have wireless internet with a cisco valet router. My problem is that yesterday when I turned on a laptop that I use only once a week or so, now shows the signal strength of the network but I can not gain access to it. The main error message I get when I troubleshoot is that the network connection has come unplugged.Yes, I have the wireless switch turned on, on the laptop. That was the first thing I checked. I uninstalled cisco software on the laptop and reinstalled it and the laptop will not connect to the network.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G Can't Get Out To Web

Jul 5, 2011

I'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately.  I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems.  I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs.  Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these?  Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more

Using An Old Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router As A Switch?

May 4, 2012

I have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well.The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:

Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)

The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g Can't Get To Internet

Jul 8, 2011

My 'network' looks like this:

CABLE MODEM ===> WRT54G
WRT54G Port1 ===> PC

PC is running Windows/XP sp3 with all updates installed. It has no wireless adapter.WRT54G model number sticker shows ver.2. I don't think the firmware has ever been upgraded.This used to work. What has changed? The laptop that used to connect wireless is dead. I now have a 2nd PC that sits on the same table as the old PC. It has no wireless adapter at this point, but eventually either it, or the old computer, will be getting its internet connection wireless-ly, as the computers will be physically in separate rooms. I can't see how these changes would affect the operation of the router.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Two WRT54G And One DSL Connection?

Feb 19, 2013

Situation:  I have one Internet connection and I have need of two networks.  One filtered with OpenDNS and the other unfiltered.  I have a Speedstream DSL router provided by ISP for connecting to Internet.  I have two WRT54G's and would like to utilize them to form two networks.  The Speedstream is a router with a gateway address of 192.168.1.254.

From that Speedstream (only one network plug) I would like to go to a 5port switch.  From that switch, I would like to configure the two WRT's to be two different networks (one using OpenDNS settings for filtering) with one having a 192.168.1.x address scheme and the other (no Internet filtering) having a 192.168.10.x scheme.  Both would have DHCP enabled for their networks and the Speedstream would have DHCP disabled.  There is not a need (at this point) to have the networks communicate.

Ive had a WRT54G v5 for awhile now.  And just recently I went out of town and had turn off my router.  When coming back and turning everything back on for some reason both wired and wireless components both have a connection then it loses the connection for awhile and comes back on.  Ive power cycled both the router and modem. Called my provider and they said it was my router after doing some diagnostic tests.  I tried to update the firmware and ive tried to restore to factory settings. Still it has a connection then it loses it.. Ive noticed on the modem when its not working that only the SENT light is flashing. (modem has power,received,sent, cable,pc). It is on AUTO DHCP and gets a ip and everything.

3. The wireless is working and the SSID is Linksysxx.

I tried the following:at the DOS prompt typed cd then, TFTP -i 192.168.1.1 PUT (my fw).binunplugged the router, plugged in and hit "Enter"After about 15 seconds I got the error message, "Invalid Password". Linksys Wrt54g Router - Inconsistent Wireless Signal?

Jun 6, 2012

I have a linksys wrt54g wireless router and a few weeks ago my wireless connection started to become inconsistent, it would randomly drop service or be very slow, and now it has become very inconsistent and slow, all the while the wireless signal would be 4-5 bars.On my windows 7 desktop, often times the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark pops up over the signal strength indicator when its at 4-5 bars.I've tried changing to 2 different routers and its the same, and the problem is persistent for all computers in the house.I've connected directly via ethernet to the modem and router and service was fine.There are a few wireless networks in the area,some with quite strong signals, but I downloaded the xirrus wifi inspector and it says I'm not sharing a channel (channel 1) and though I'm ~15ft from the router, the signal is ~65dbm, which seems low and is almost equivalent to neighbor's wireless strength.
