View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to know how to change the Router Password. I have two computers running XP connected to my WRT54G; one via cable and the other wirelessly. I'm using WEP security. The router setup defaulted to "admin" for the Router Password; I'd like to make it a stronger password.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm attempting to access the router's configuration options (192.168.1.1) and it's requesting a user and a password, i have not set any of them so i'm using the defaults, been, user (blank), password (admin) but is not taking them; after 3 attempts it gives me a 404 error.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have changed the router username/password in the past and either I can't remember it or its not accepting what I am entering, because the router logon will not go through. I have unplugged the router for 5 mins and then let it come back on and still cant get in, pressed the reset button down and let it come back up still nothing, and I have unplugged the cable modem and router for five mins and then plugged them both back up and I still can't get the router to reset to the default admin password. In the past it has worked before but now nothing I try will let me into the router interface to set up anything.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Lynksys WRT54G wireless router. It works just fine until I try to put a password on it. I go through the basic steps, it talkes all my information and tells me everything is good. I try to sign on the internet and it tells me my password is invalid....and YES Im sure its the right password I entered. I went to http://192.168.1.1/wireless.htm and did all the necessary instructions, and still, it doesn't work. I can change my network name and it works. As long as I leave it unprotected, everything works fine, but when I add the password, it tells me its invalid. I even used 123456 so as to make sure it was the right one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
Time Warner used remote access to get into my wrt54g system and create a new user id/password for security. As a result, my hp printer will no longer communicate with my computer. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have tried multiple times to hard reset my Wireless G WRT54G ver.2 router, but have had no success. I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address. With every reset attempt, I hope that the default admin password will work, but sadly no.

I followed the basic instructions that came with the router and towards the end of the process it says detecting network settings with a % bar. The bar fills to 100% and then asks for a password. I've tried the password my DSL company gave me along with various other things like admin etc. After I enter the password I hit enter and it just asks me for the password over and over again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the past couple of years, I've picked up a couple of Linksys WRT54G routers for a buck or two at flea markets. I hadn't thought about the fact that no assigned SSID or Password came with them. I downloaded the Linksys set-up files from their website and recently set up both of them for relatives. They work great but they are "unsecured networks". I'd like to change that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately. I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems. I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs. Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these? Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well. The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:
Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)
The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)
I have lost the start-up cd for my router, where to find a downloadable one so i can hook up my router.
