Jul 6, 2011I successful set up my WRT54GR router. Now I want to add a new device but can't find or remember my user name and password. So I decided to reinstall the router only to find that the http://192.168.1.1 page asks me for my admin password - having sensibly created one 4 years ago which I have now forgotten or where I wrote it down. How the hell do I get around this - if at all or do I have to buy a new router and start all over again!

Dec 30, 2012All networking had been working great until recent power failure. Then laptops failed to connect, found my router WRT54G had become insecure. I open the router using "admin", reset Wireless Security and reset my password. Wireless laptops, wireless camera now works fine but now iPhone will not connect? I have double checked the password, it is the same as the router. Is there something else in the router that needs changing for the iPhone connection?

Dec 1, 2012I am having problems with connectivity and my iPhone 5. The Wi-Fi is okay in some parts of my home network, however in others it is abysmmal. When I bring my computer to the places where the iPhone has problems with signal strength/staying connected the computers have full or almost full strength and no problems. I upgraded firmware for the router, spoke with applecare, have reset the router multiple times, and have been trying different channels. I had the phone in with the Apple store where they concluded nothing seems wrong with the hardware. The phone doesn't seem to have problems like this on other wifi networks I have tried. Using a speed test on the iPhone at home in the low connectivity areas results in horrendously poor latency numbers.

I have unplugged the router for 5 mins and then let it come back on and still cant get in, pressed the reset button down and let it come back up still nothing, and I have unplugged the cable modem and router for five mins and then plugged them both back up and I still can't get the router to reset to the default admin password. In the past it has worked before but now nothing I try will let me into the router interface to set up anything.

I go through the basic steps, it talkes all my information and tells me everything is good. I went to http://192.168.1.1/wireless.htm and did all the necessary instructions, and still, it doesn't work. I can change my network name and it works. As long as I leave it unprotected, everything works fine, but when I add the password, it tells me its invalid. I even used 123456 so as to make sure it was the right one.

May 13, 2013I was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
