View 2 Replies View RelatedI successful set up my WRT54GR router. Now I want to add a new device but can't find or remember my user name and password. So I decided to reinstall the router only to find that the http://192.168.1.1 page asks me for my admin password - having sensibly created one 4 years ago which I have now forgotten or where I wrote it down. How the hell do I get around this - if at all or do I have to buy a new router and start all over again!
View 1 Replies View RelatedTurns out one of the relatives changed the router name and password, and in a fit of brilliance, forgot to WRITE THE NEW USERNAME/PASSWORD DOWN!So I typed in 192.168.1.1 and tried literally every combination I know. NOTHING works tried rebooting the WRT120N. I tried both holding the reset button in, as well as holding the reset button in along with pulling the power adapter cord. Neither of these achieved the desired result (which would be the resetting of the factory username and password to "admin/admin".
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I either retrieve or reset the router password? To edit it you have to have the current password, which it doesn't display. If I want to reset it do I have to do a factory reset on the router? If I do that, then I have to set everything up again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
I've tried following the directions from Cisco to to reset my password but I still can not access the router. What can I do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for the better half of the morning and afternoon to configure my family's wireless network. In particular, I would like to password protect the Wifi in such a way that every time I disconnect from the internet, a password is required to reconnect.I have setup the password and confirmed that it works properly when other machines in the house try to connect; however, the main computer I have used to set everything up is also a shared computer. Every time I disconnect from the internet and reconnect, it automatically connects without requesting the Wifi password.
Because it is a shared computer, I would like to disable internet access while I am away but leave the rest of the computer functional. Creating separate user accounts is not an option at this time.Is there any way to require that every computer submit the Wifi password after disconnecting and attempting to reconnect?
Where do I find the router SSDI and password. I am trying to reinstall Linksys E1200
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast year our Network Security Supervisor submit his resignation and unfortunately did not endorse us the admin password we already tried the password he suggested when we contacted him but nothing of them works. Is there anyway we can reset the password without resetting to factory default?
View 1 Replies View Relatedgetting the E1200 and was reading over the PDF user's guide re. guests. It says "The first time your guest tries to access the Internet through a web browser, they will see the Guest access screen To continue, they must enter the password you provided in the Password field, then click LoGIn." Should I take this to mean after the first time it won't prompt them again for a password? I was wondering If my roommate wants to use my internet account if she can use the guest account every time without a password or not. If she has to enter it each time it might be easier to just add her computer to the network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy does my E1200 forget my Parental Control Password? This happens almost weekly and I have to use the "forgot password" option. It asks my security question, I answer it and set the new password to the same password it keeps forgetting. Why does this happen? Also, is there anyway to have total 24hr control on the Block Internet Access?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with. It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult. As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?
