I got an ASA 5505 recently and i'm new to using firewalls but have forgotten the username and password that was set on it for login using SSH (putty). Is there a way i can stiil login to it or even reset the password so i can login using Putty?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe've a Cisco ASA 5505 connected directly to Verizon FiOS Circuit (ONT) box using Ethernet cable. As per the existing documention that I have, the previous configured this as a dedicated router to establish a seperate VPN connection our software provider. They assigned both Public Static and Local Static IP address. When I try to ping the public IP address, it says request time out; so the public IP address is no longer working.
When I ping the local IP address of 192.168.100.11, it responds. The SolarWind tool also shows Always UP signal. How can I login into this router either from remotely or locally to check the configuration, backup and do the fimrware upgrade?
I also tried to connect my laptop directly to the ASA 5505 router LAN port. After 3 minutes, I'm able to connect to Internet without any issues. However I don't know the IP address to use to login.
There is an issue with my OS remembering the network password... Every time I log on to an account (I have only 1), the wireless network is disconnected

When I reload the device it prompts me for the username, then the password and it fails and just asks for the username again. I have even tried to delete the username / password combo but it still prompts me for it. When I do password recovery the confreg is 0x00000001.

1: on ACS 5.x i create a new user & Set " Change password on NExt Login" option.
2: Logged into the device through Telnet & Password can be changed after i authenticate successfully. however the same is not happening when i login to the devices through SSH.
is it because of the fact that SSH is encrypted session ?
Because changing password through a telnet session is not accepted in many fanancial organizations as per PCI Standard.

While trying to edit the login page, I have to create a new Customization file from CLIENTLESS SSL VPN ACCESS -> PORTAL -> CUSTOMIZATION in the ASDM. When I do that and I try to edit the login page, it comes up with 2 forms of authentication and an internal password prompt like this: IMAGE 2

I have recently aquired a Cisco SGE2000 switch and the first thing I did was update to the latest firmware and change password. Now I cant login? Neither my admin / admin dosent work nor the new user I have created. Is there any characters that this dosesnt support like backslashes or forward slashes for password? If not then what can I do to get access to the switch again?
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy RV042. The main login password has expired but it will not let me change it at all. Basically I try to login but get the error 'The old password has expired. Please change the password'. But with no prompt at all for a new password and just a return to the login page. Tried various different browsers, tried the old default password but nothing will work. There seems to be no way of changing it and I cannot login.
I really don't want to reset it to default as I have numerous VPN tunnels configured and various other settings.
